i think ill just stick with the original plan of getting a modi 2 uber + a magni 2 as i plan on getting a pair of 6XXs/HD650 in the future

switching audio sources with a button press is a convince ill happily pay for, also afaik the AKG 700 serise is gernally really pikey with amps, will the shciit fulla power it properly anyway?

i need a dac with both USB and optical out, im fine with using USB for my PC but i doubt consoles with crappy motherboards and PSUs will supply clean power and audio signals thru USB.

ill get straight to the point, i can get both for around the same price and i was wondering which one is better?, AFAIK the 7xx is based on the K702 annies with K712 pads but i dont know anything about the K712 pros, ill be using them mainly for gaming competitive and non competitive, music listening piano violin voila orchestra game OSTs etc... ill be pairing them with a schiit stack modi 2 uber & magni 2 non uber, unless getting the magni 2 uber makes a difference with these headphones.

how do the mids compare in your opinion?, also regardless of what headphone i chose im going with a good separate amp and dac and a mixer setup, i like to buy things that last so i can reuse them later, i also heard the K7xx is very similar to the 65th annies, but you get matched drivers, slightly more bass, tame highs, and they are made in china

aright, thanks alot for the help i think ill go for the K7xx seems like they have everything i want in a headphone, ofc i would have liked the slightly better mids, but either way both will run circles over my A50s, after i get the K7xx maybe i should start saving for a pair of HD800s lol.

i heard from someone that the shciit magni 2 non uber might not be enough to drive the K7xx, but i have also heard that it can even drive HD800s, so should i spend an extra 50 and get the magni 2 Uber or save my money?, ill also get a Mixer to mix PC+console audio to use both at the same time, the Shciit Modi 2 uber is a must for me as i need both optical and usb in the same dac.

that's pretty detailed thanks alot, imo looks don't matter, but i quite like the Ivory 598s the 599 even more so, if i may ask what AMP are you using to drive the K7xx?.

hey i have been looking to replace my astro A50 with some real headphones, and after a lot of searching i narrowed it down to either the HD598 or the Massdrop K7XX with a schiit stack, i considered the DT990 & the AD 900X , but im sensitive to the higher frequencies so the DT990 is not for me and the AD 900X probably wont fit on my small head.i have a maximum budget of 500USD but i'd like not to break the bank, ill be using them mainly for competitive gaming and music listening, i listen to pretty much everything except for jazz so a natrual sounding headphones with punchy bass and a good sound stage will be best for me, the A50s have that muddy Bass rumble you get with ''gaming'' headsets but from my understanding that just creeps up on the other frequencies in the spectrum, so if i have to let it go so be it, im not bass head.im going to be using them on both my console and pc, so im most likely getting the schiit stack Modi/magni 2 Uber, using optical for console and USB for PC, for chat audio i can always get a modmic or a USB mic so that's not an issue.i don't have access to either of these headphones so im having a hard time deciding between them. TL;DR HD598 or K7XX, going to get a schiit stack as i need them for both console and PC.
