  1. So, I'm using EVGA precision to overclock my GPU. I am also running an application in the background called Razer Synapse which all that does is it allows me to quickly change keybinds and such on my Razer hardware. However, for some reason both Razer Synapse and EVGA precision is using my GPU which is causing me to run at base clock while idling at desktop. The weird thing is though, that going into Nvidia control panel and changing the setting "Power management mode" to something different and then back again will cause the applications to stop using my GPU completely but still work exactly as they did before, until I reboot my PC and they will start using my GPU again? Any help / tips would be greatly appreciated since this is annoying me greatly. Thank you and have a nice day :-)
  2. I put the settings on the medium preset and that really didn't give me any increase in fps, but the game definitely looks worse. However it seems that the spiking is still happening but both the GPU usage and CPU usage seem to spike down to even lower numbers than before. I sadly cannot. Can an SSD affect actual gaming performance like that and not just load times?
  3. Just tried this and CPU usage seemed to do the same going all the way down to 82 and back to higher numbers and just spiking up and down around that while doing laps in the city, rarely ever went to 100% usage.
  4. So I've been playing The Witcher 3 now for a while on ultra settings (minus nvidia hairworks because I think it's a bit silly and not worth it) and I get above 60 fps 90% of the time. However in the big cities it manages to BARELY stay above 60 when running around a lot, however while doing this I see that my GPU usage goes from the normal 100% all the way down to 78% and spiking up and down around 95% - 80%. What could be the cause of this and how would I go about fixing it? I am running a GTX 1060 6GB and a i5 2500k 3.30ghz. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks :-)
  5. Awesome, I'll apply new paste and then start looking into some overclocking and see how it'll perform, and then I guess I can upgrade when I feel that it's actually needed. Thanks so much for all of the replies, really helped a lot
  6. I am running a Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz, 3601 Mhz 4 cores. Is this good enough to play the current AAA titles paired with a GTX 1060 6GB? Should I just reapply thermal paste (haven't done that in like 5 years) or should I upgrade it? Any tips would be greatly appreciated Thank you and have a nice day.
  7. Hey ! I am starting to get slightly triggered by my games insanely slow load times, for example I was loading up a game earlier, and getting from the double click on the shortcut to actually be in the game menu took about 2-ish minutes. And then loading into the map taking anoter 40-ish seconds, all this to then get into the game running with max settings and getting a delightful 80+ fps. It seems as my only issue with gaming performance is my slow HDD. Now here is my question, would it be worth it to just buy a 240GB SSD to store all the games that I am currently playing, and then have my OS and my other apps on my old and slow HDD, or would it not be worth it compared to getting a bigger SSD for both my OS and my current games. Or maybe it would be even better to store only my OS on the SSD and then have my games on the HDD? My OS feels surprisingly fast with the only issue being slow transfer speeds. Any tips are greatly appreciated :-) Have a nice day.
  8. None whatsoever, I tried over and under clocking a slight bit but turned it back after I saw it didn't change anything.
  9. I have been having DX11 issues for a few days now, running games with DX11 would crash them after a few seconds, when they would normally run fine. It would launch, give me a "driver crash black screen" and then if I wasn't fast enough to ALT-F4 out of it, it would stay black and I'd be forced to do a hard reboot. I never ever get any sort of errors from the application or from Windows 10 OS. I had tried everything from reinstalling drivers to slightly overclocking my GPU or slightly underclocking it but nothing, NOTHING would work. Until someone told me to put my system to sleep and wake it up and then try again, and somehow this was able to make the games run with DX11 completely fine with no issues at all. Except after every reboot I have to put my system to sleep and wake it up before DX11 will function properly again.. How does this make any sense? I spoke to NVIDIA and they told me that it is an issue with my OS. I'm running Windows 10 64-bit. Any help / tips would be greatly appreciated. I am personally suspecting a BIOS issue, but I could be completely wrong and I am not sure how to properly navigate the BIOS. Thank you
