  1. I saw true purpose of this connector. If you want to show your LED's without connection all stuff (CPU, MEMORY, PSU) and turning in on. (For demonstration only) I saw that applying power to it will cause mother board LED's to show demo effect.
  2. I found guide for overclocking non-K skylake CPUs: http://overclocking.guide/updated-msi-z170-non-k-overclocking-guide-new-bios/ Have anybody tried to do that? What are results?
  3. If I'll get cheapest Z170 mother board, compared to mid-level z170, what are problems I cat expect? I think that mother board for $120 from MSI should not be a bad quality, I suggest there will be some limitations in upgrading options. Did you heard about overclocking non-K skylake CPUs? Is it worth trying?
  4. I found this guide about overclocking i5-6400 cpu to 4.5GHz by installing special bios version & setting base clock frequency to 167MHz. http://overclocking.guide/updated-msi-z170-non-k-overclocking-guide-new-bios/
  5. Did I done smth wrong, or it's not much to say about my original post? I'm new on this whole forum stuff. I'll appreciate any help or advice.
  6. But what about base clock overclocking ability that in theory can provide much higher CPU frequency? And it's for $10 less or $20 more if I throw additional $30 CPU cooler?
  7. Hi everyone. I'm considering building a home desktop PC. Currently I only have a 13,3" laptop (HP ProBook 430 G2) and since I've got a place for a Desktop and some budget I want to build new shiny work-entertainment machine. Main tasks for that system: Working (Software development, small game-dev.); Gaming (FullHD on Very High details will be great for me as currently I only playing indie games like Terraria on 720p resolution); capable for VR Gaming, maybe some basic development PS: I'm trying to build system in Black-White colors, so I choose matching parts. PPS: I live in Ukraine so items prices can be little to high comparing them to ones on Amazon and other sites. Case - Fractal Design Define S Window (~100 USD) (Black with some white parts) Power Supply - Fractal Design Integra M 650W (~90 USD) I've already bought it. Monitor - Old cheap 24" Samsung LCD panel that I have. Storage - Old WD Green 1TB HDD that should still work well. - I want to have ability to install NVMe M.2 card in future. GPU - Asus PCI-Ex Radeon RX480 ROG Strix 8GB GDDR5 (256bit) (~345 USD) Note: With Intel I5-6xxx CPUs I want to run system on integrated graphics for some time and spend some extra on other parts. And buy discrete GPU cart later. CPU + Mother board + RAM I haven't decided yet what platform should I choose (AMD AM3+, Intel Z170, Intel B150 or Wait for Zen) The options are: Intel Z170 setup (following some OC guides CPU freq. can be raised to 4+ GHz for daily usage) Intel I5-6400 2.7Ghz (boost 3.3Ghz) (~200 USD); MSI Z170A PC Mate (~120 USD); Kingston DDR4-2400 16GB PC4-19200 (Kit of 2x8GB) HyperX Fury Black (~125 USD); CPU cooler for OC. Intel B150 setup (non-OC but with better CPU base freq.) Intel I5-6500 3.2Ghz (~235 USD); Asus B150M Pro Gaming (~100 USD); Kingston DDR4-2400 16GB PC4-19200 (Kit of 2x8GB) HyperX Fury Black (~125 USD); AMD AM3+ (It was my first choice because I like AMD) AMD FX-8370 4GHz (It has Wraith cooler) (~190 USD) Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P (~80 USD) G.Skill DDR3-1600 8GB PC3-12800 (Kit of 2x4GB) Sniper (~60 USD) AMD AM4 (In some future) ??? ??? ???
