I saw true purpose of this connector. If you want to show your LED's without connection all stuff (CPU, MEMORY, PSU) and turning in on. (For demonstration only) I saw that applying power to it will cause mother board LED's to show demo effect.

If I'll get cheapest Z170 mother board, compared to mid-level z170, what are problems I cat expect? I think that mother board for $120 from MSI should not be a bad quality, I suggest there will be some limitations in upgrading options. Did you heard about overclocking non-K skylake CPUs? Is it worth trying?

Did I done smth wrong, or it's not much to say about my original post? I'm new on this whole forum stuff. I'll appreciate any help or advice.

But what about base clock overclocking ability that in theory can provide much higher CPU frequency? And it's for $10 less or $20 more if I throw additional $30 CPU cooler?
