  1. Thanks for your answer, it helps a lot to know you won't mess up so much money.
  2. He said the two cards have different power consumption, therefor would break something?
  3. Should I SLI 2 different brands of graphic cards? My friend says the power output would prove to be a trouble. But as stated above, I'm afraid of heat output as well.
  4. Planning on a 1440p@165hz monitor, there are these two which currently in my affordable range. Which one should I buy? Also if there are better options which are around that price tag (~$700), please enlighten me.
  5. Currently I have a Zotac gtx 1080 Amp extreme and planning on buying another gtx 1080 to SLI. But instead of the same card I was thinking of a hybrid card such as EVGA FTW hybrid, since the gap between the two graphic cards is too small, the heat output would prove to be very annoying since the first card's fans would probably fail to perform its best, that is where the hybrid card kicks in. So I was thinking, I'm planning on 1440p@165hz and a flexible bridge just would not do... so I'm looking at this MSI HB bridge since my motherboard is also MSI's. But the two cards have different sizes and the bridge looks to be fixed on two cards with the same size. Anyone knows if the SLI HB bridge would work or not with 2 different sized cards? Also a EVGA 850W Gold PSU should be enough for x2 gtx 1080 + core i7-6700k, right?
  6. Alright I think I'm gonna go with the Zotac Amp! Extreme one... gonna need a new power supply as well, any recommendations? Using a core i7 6700k, I might SLI my card in the future so 750W should be fine, yes?
  7. 1080p@144hz I'm thinking of the 1080 with hybrid water cooling, is that any good?
  8. Currently I have a budget of $800 for one gtx 1080, I'm really confused between choosing a EVGA card and a Zotac one. I heard the Zotac AMP! Extreme one proved to be the best but then my friend said EVGA is the one to go for... Also, should I go for x1 1080 or x2 1070?
  9. By the way, any specific recommendations for RAM? I think 16gb and about 3000mhz should be fine
  10. I'm currently using the BenQ XL2411Z monitor which supports 1080p@144hz. I'm wondering if in games, I use a dynamic resolution instead of my native one such as 1440p... will my refresh rate remain the same or will it be reduced?
  11. Alright, thanks for your help. I'll look into it.
  12. Alright, cool... How about the motherboard? Is that a good choice? And which brand should I go for RAM?
  13. I'm using a Corsair CX500 I believe. Is it worth it though? I'm not gaming on 4k and I don't know how much a i5-6600k would be a drop compares to a i7-6700k also with a gtx 1060 and a 1070.
  14. Hey all, I'm planning on upgrading my motherboard, CPU and RAM... Currently I can muster about $700 and I'm thinking of.... Z170A for Motherboard:https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Performance-Gaming-Z170A-Motherboard/dp/B01BIUW9PO/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1480766259&sr=8-5&keywords=Z170-PRO-GAMING&th=1 Intel Core i7 6700k for CPU: https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Unlocked-Skylake-Processor-BX80662I76700K/dp/B012M8LXQW/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1480766383&sr=1-1&keywords=intel+i7+6700k 16gb of DDR4 3000mhz for RAM: https://www.amazon.com/Patriot-Memory-3000MHz-Channel-PV416G300C6K/dp/B0157UQ5A6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1480766449&sr=8-2&keywords=Patriot+16GB+Viper+4+DDR4 The purpose of this rig is mostly for gaming, perhaps along with some development and rendering at times. At the moment I'm using Zotac GTX 1060 3gb, a 500W powersource and a BenQ XL2411Z 1080p@144hz monitor (which I assume should be fine with only 3gb of Vram). Should I go with this upgrade or tune down it a bit and sell my 1060 then buy a 1070? I'm living in Seattle - WA, just moved here and don't know of any good location for building a pc so I'm just aiming my price at what amazon has at the moment. Reason why I need this upgrade: my current motherboard is B85 and it's pretty old, gave me a lot of crashes as well. Also are there places to sell your old computer parts in Seattle?
