  1. I picked up 2 HP 586444-001 NC550SFP and placed one in my NAS and the other in my PC. The one in my NAS is working fine but the one in my PC is showing up as an unknown device, I went to HPs website and got the driver installer. Except when I install it nothing happens, even after a reboot. Anyone ran into this issue before as well? I'm running on Windows 11 with a zen 4 platform if that helps.
  2. So I've been needing to get some drives for my NAS as several of them are at risk of failure (Old drives from old machines) but I've seen a lot of reviews on multiple websites saying that they get drives without warranty or that were clearly refurbished. How best to avoid this? or is it just something I need to accept the risk for?
  3. Sweet thanks for the advice! I'm not looking for a huge jump for now I'm just looking to get a larger cache drive and some faster networking to take advantage of it plus try some new tech I've never gotten to work with before. Thanks for the links too!
  4. So I finally have gotten my Unraid server set up and am transferring data but I am wanting to speed up the process a bit. I've been wanting to dip into fiber optic hardware so I thought why not begin with networking so I watched one of Linus several guides but I am just wanting a little clarification before I accidentally pull a bonehead move. So my parts list is: Transceiver https://www.ebay.com/itm/165425301254?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=CvlQ154ETKC&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=6nwrp2jltms&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY NIC https://www.ebay.com/itm/224992359085?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=egWVjkadSDa&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=6nwrp2jltms&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Cable https://www.infinitecables.com/fiber-optic/fiber-optic-duplex-cables/50-micron-om4-multimode-1.6mm-ofnp/multimode-duplex-short-boots-om4-aqua-fiber-cable-1.6mm-jacket-ofnp/?variation_id=23514 A few questions I have is that it says Cisco compatible or ubiquity compatible does that mean it will not work peer to peer? On both ends I have Intel CPUs and I'm just looking for better than gigabit speeds. Also how do you decide on cables there are so many options and nothing is terribly clear. Thank you for any help!
  5. I just got a new Gpu and it needs 2x8 pin for power in. My PSU has 2 separate 6+2 and 6 pin connectors. Is it okay to power a Gpu using just the 6+2 pins from the separate wires and just leave the 6 pins unplugged or is there an issue with using 2 cables for a single Gpu?
  6. It's working on air so I don't believe its an issue with the internal thermal compound, again my pump has died so I have to wait for the new one to ship some time next week. De-lidding runs too much risk of breaking something and I honestly don't have the cash to replace it at this time.
  7. Idle temp starts in the 30s and after about 2 minutes gets up to 100. I remounted the block twice to make sure there was good contact and I confirmed my pump was not flowing and would not respond to power. I have an i5 7600k with a 5ghz OC. I have gone back to air cooling until a new pump can be sent and hopefully a d5 will be more reliable than my DDC pump to which I read can be prone to failure.
  8. Pump could be dead, at some points it seems to be turning off.
  9. So I noticed some growth in my loop and took everything out and cleaned it but when I put everything back now it's instantly going to 100 C, I know my pump is working because it filled. And Im sure the block is getting water because I feel heat in the tubes so my only guess is the rad. Any ideas of what may be going on with that? I'm fairly new to custom loops and what I do know comes down to the other components mostly Update: I used a spare PSU I had and plugged my pump into it as well as switch my fans to push instead of pull(I'm sure that didn't do much but still) and I'm now fairly normal will reopen thread if issues return)
  10. One of the benefits of the podcasts that I support on Patreon is that I can download add free copies of each episode, I created a file so I can have them all play in order but the only realistic option I see to have them in order is to put numbers at the beginning which seems really clunky and I'm not a fan of. So I am using the properties of the file to add a number to each one except stupid File Explorer is not saving it the first time so I have to open each one twice to get it to save which is a massive pain in the rear. Also having to select each file one by one press F2 and then rewrite the title is tedious is there a faster way to do that too. Is there a better way to do this/ what are some options that work with windows 10 to replace file explorer because it is garbage. Additional note: I have not used PLEX but I intend to in the future and that is one of the reasons I want to number them as a file property because I read on a forum that it can make things easier later.
  11. Software RAID using storage pools in Windows, I've seen Linus and other YouTube people set up software RAID for storage. Each are 1TB Raid isn't exactly needed but preferred for simplicity sake. That is the problem, unless I delete program files I can't get any more space on my C drive. That's why I'm doing this in the first place. I am using a bootable USB I've used this one in the past it is a 16GB. The specific error popping up is saying there is something wrong with the ISO
  12. So I am trying to move my OS from my old SSD (Kingston A120) to the new drives I got (2 Samsung 860 in Simple/RAID 0) but I have been running into issues. There was a software that I saw recommended by a ton of sites but it requires payment and it wont let me target my Storage Pool anyway to clone my C: Drive. I tried to just fresh install and move the files over after as I need them but I can't get the dang ISO to work. Windows media creation tool won't run when I tried to use that because it says I need 8 GB of free space on my C: drive but I don't have that much and there isnt anything else I can take off of it because its all system files. I tried using Rufus and the ISO but every time I tried I got some error popping up about how the ISO wouldn't transfer. I saw this post: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-update/how-to-restore-a-windows-10-system-image-to-an/e20992ca-5641-4f7c-bb09-3895d0732162 and it said that I can use a system image to do the same thing but It also said something about needing an ISO. What can I do to remedy this? I just want to get my stupid OS onto the new drives so I stop getting errors from having my C: drive full. Thank you
  13. I'm looking to make my audio setup more straightforward for me. I have 2 main ways of consuming my audio either via my headphones which are plugged into my USB DAC or via my speakers which uses a single 3.5mm jack. I also have several devices I play my audio on (my phone, PC, and consoles). So I was wondering if my best option is to just find a mixer than can handle those inputs/outputs or if there is a better option (or even just another option). All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  14. I just swapped to a different usb extension and it seems to be working now but I'll look into one of those for a better long term solution
  15. I looked into those a few year ago they mostly were only on the intel HEDT series mobos which I dont have
