  1. Ohhhh gotchya. Well, at least I know if I go that route I'll have a rough idea on that then!
  2. I don't use a whole lot of Photoshop for editing. I use a lot of Lightroom, and also a large majority of my time is spent in Illustrator
  3. What cpu are you rocking? I may have to contact you in the future for some tid-bits on over OC. I've overclocked in the past, but it was very minor and I didn't tweak much but the speeds. Mainly because I didn't need to.
  4. In the end, I'll be roughly at the same amount of money. If I go the 6600k/6700k route, I'll be selling the Asus board, and my current setup, and go for a new build and be at about the same as if I get the 4790k+ram and sell my current build.
  5. Well I also stream a little, and do a very heavy amount of photo editing. Not so much video, but heavy photo. That's why if we are talking about turning of hyper-threading, I would rather spend the money on a newer i5 rather than an older gen 4790k
  6. No no, you're fine. This is why I started it. I know what each cpu is capable of, but I just want to see what everyone has to say and their input. Now is that OC'ing it to 4.5 with turbo off? Or Setting it so the turbo hits around 4.5-4.6
  7. then, in this instance, what would be the point of buying the 4790k? If I'm going to turn off hyper-threading, than I'll just buy a newer 6/7600k
  8. If I got one, I would probably delid it and put new compound on and such. I've seen 10-25 degree differences, especially now that the chips are older and the compound is old as dirt. I have a cryorig H7 that is amazing, but yes that is a current concern
  9. Oh hello guys what's up? Stuck in a little bit of a dilemma right now. So I'm currently rocking a 6600 with a B150 mobo. Originally I was going to go with a 6600k but I snagged a 6600 for only $160 last fall. But lately I've been wanting to upgrade and contemplating selling my 6600 and mobo, and going with a K build. Until today. Someone came to me with an old i7-4790k. FOR ONLY $210. The glory of this, I have an old Asus Maximus VII Gene mobo lying around. But I'm struggling because I haven't heard much but people having troubles lately with their 4790k's. So, do I go with a newer 6600k/7600k setup and sell my old Asus board, or sell my 6600 pair and go with the 4790k? Just seeing what everyone's thoughts are
  10. This is very true in regards of being able to see more of it, no doubt. And, I am well aware that they provide better cooling benefits over an ITX system. Building this case isn't to save money, or provide a cooler system. I've been doing woodworking for quite some time and gaming even longer, and while building my last custom case, I got the idea for a wooden one. And, while there are a couple out there, there really isn't much, or at least that I have found. Most of them are just hodge podge jobs that someone threw together with plywood. I have yet to see a nice looking pc case that was made from wood. Not necessarily custom, just a nice looking case. Sorry, that isn't meant to come off as a rant, I just started typing lol
  11. Hey you know what, sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do haha
  12. I will find a way, and a way shall be found. I'm just building this case for fun, but maybe I'll build a wooden open air for my mATX build
  13. Maybe I'll make an open air ITX case? I've yet to come across on of those yet
  14. At first, I thought an open air would be quite easy, but the more I think about it and look at designs, I feel like this would be more of a challenge. But I like it. How are temps on an open air?
