The short version is this: I recently bought a 16gb kit of Corsair Vengence 3000mhz RAM to replace my old 8GB kit, and at the same time I also bought a 3 pack of Thermaltake Riing RGB fans to replace my 2 stock case fans. I have noticed, since this upgrade, my temps in almost every video game I play have gone up pretty significantly, by almost 10 C in games like Squad and Forza Horizon 4. Even my idle temps are at like 45 C! Temps have been getting up to 90 C for my graphics card, under load, and 95 for my CPU, both about 10C hotter than before. Now, part of the problem is just that I have high ambient temps of about 25-30 C this time of year, which is just because I live in New Mexico and a lot of older homes do not have A/C (or, in my case, just a crappy 20 year old window unit). That being said, I am not sure why my temps have gone up by like 10 C after this upgrade. I have checked most of the obvious stuff, like making sure the fans are on high RPM, cleaning the filters on my case, making sure the fans are in the correct orientation for intake/exhaust, etc.. Any ideas on what may cause this, or a cost effective way of fixing it? Obviously,something like a new CPU cooler would help, but I just spent my monthly budget for parts on the new upgrade and a new keyboard. Besides, my GPU is too hot for comfort too! Specs: i7 7700k @ 4.6 ghz 16GB Dual channel Corsair Vengence 3000 mhz Hyper 212 EVO cooler (soon to be replaced anyways) EVGA GTX 1070ti NZXT S340 Elite case ASUS prime Z270 Mobo 3x Thermaltake Riing case fans, 2x intake, 1x exhaust, recently added a second exhaust fan I had laying around, but that did not help much.

I am looking to replace my old Galaxy S7 with something a little more modern, and was looking at a budget of $500 USD or less to replace it, and would like your recommendations on good android phones to fit the job. I prefer buying phones outright, but if you know of any deals for low monthly payments, that is totally an option too. My main use case is for media consumption, namely YouTube videos, memes and music, as that all I really use my phone for these days. So, A high quality, bright screen At least average battery life Bluetooth 5.0 support Durable and water-resistant, as I am pretty clumsy Prefer at least 6GB of RAM, as I do a fair amount of multi-tasking Must be compatible with AT&T, Sprint or Verizon (I work for Best Buy and get discounts on their services) The ones that keep cropping up at the LG G8 ThinQ, V40 ThinQ, Galaxy S9, and the newly announced Pixel 3a. What are your personal experiences with these phones, and are there any others you would recommend? Also, if you have any positive/negative experiences with Verizon, AT&T or Sprint that you want to share, that helps too, since I will be switching to one of them sooner or later. Apparently emulation is a lot more time consuming than i originally thought, lol. I have next to no knowledge about emulation, so it's good to learn that it takes so much time and effort. Thanks for the help guys,

It released right as the mining craze was at the tail end of its height. The bubble would remain for like 6 months after it was released, until it started to fall.

Yeah, I use PCSX2 on occasion, which is great but I figured it would be worthwhile to see what PS4 emulation looks like right now. I doubted anything was available, but hey, who knows?

I've been doing some research, and I was thinking about about possibly buying up a used 1070ti to replace my 1060. My main concern is if the upgrade would really be worth the extra dough. Low end, used 1070tis have been cropping up on Ebay and r/handwareswap for the $300-340 range, but my concern of that a good portion of then may have been used for mining. That, and if it would be worth the upgrade for 1080p 144hz gaming. I figure I can get about $220ish for my 1060, so the whole investment would be maybe $100? CPU bottleneck also isn't much of a concern for me, since I have a 7700k at 4.9 ghz. What's your opinion? Any feedback is appreciated.

Hey guys, just wondering how far along XBone and PS4 emulation has come. My roommate is out of town and let me borrow his PS4 so I could play God Of War and Spider Man, and oh boy, am I HOOKED. I just don't really want to cough up the dough for my own PS4 if I can avoid it, lol. Last time I checked (about two years ago) there was no finished emulator for the PS4 or Xbox One, but I figured I would check in to see if one had come out yet that's worth its salt, since we are nearing the latter part of the current console generation. If not, what programs out there are worth keeping an eye on for the future?

Yeah, I am currently using a ZTE Blade Vantage that I got for $50 as my temporary phone. It's functional and all, but I really want something with a little more finish and horsepower in it to have for the long haul. Thank for the advice though!

So, 6S plus finally died, and I am now in the market for a phone to replace it. I decided that I am done with apple, since nothing after the iPhone 6S has really appealed to me, and I miss my old Android. I have been doing some digging, and for the $250ish price point that I am limited to, I am going back and forth between a refurbished Galaxy S7 or a new Motorola G6. Both seem like really good phones for the money, but I wanted your opinion on it. I am also open to reccomendations if you can think of a better deal. Also, it just so happens that my contract with AT&T is up, so carrier isn't really an issue for me. Any help is appreciated.

Just a cheap Gigabyte Z170 HD-3. I can OC it, but because the VRM is pretty crap I won't exaxtly be breaking any records, lol. Probably why it was so cheap.

Yeah, was considering an i7 6700k, being that it is pretty similar in performance to a 7700k, but about $30-40 cheaper on average. Either that or just going for a B360/i5 8400 combo, but idk for sure. Kinda why i was asking if I am honest.

1080p 144hz

Kinda depends on what games you plan on playing. If you mostly play games like Overwatch, CS:GO, DOTA 2, etc. then a 1060 is more than enough, with both the 1070 and 1080 being massive overkill. Even in more modern games, like FarCry 5, Vermintide 2, rainbow 6 Siege, etc. the 1060 is a champ at 1080p 60 fps, unless you really want Ultra settings over high settings. You would be much better off investing the extra money into a better monitor or processor, or better yet just save it for something else entirely.

I recently got a bargain for a i5 7500 and Z170 motherboard combo, but I am curious as to when I should consider upgrading to keep up with current games. My 1060 6Gb is not bottle-necked at all by it, but I am curious at what point you guys think the 7500 will start limiting more powerful GPUs. For example, will it bottle-neck a 1080, or maybe future GPUs, like Volta? This is for gaming only, as I don't really do anything else with my computer as of right now.

I have a Hyper 212 EVO on my i5 7500 and it works just fine. Basically any aftermarket cooler will do the job though. Even the stock cooler will keep it reasonably cool, even if it is a bit noisy.

So, I recently got a new i5-7500 processor and Z170 motherboard to upgrade my old FX system, but I have noticed something very odd with my GTX 1060 6GB card after I did so. According to Afterburner, I am only utilizing maybe 60% of my GPU at all times, regardless of what game I play. For example, in BF1 I am only getting 45-50 fps at any given time at 1080p (with bad stuttering), and in Rainbow Six Siege only about 60fps and 60% usage at 1080p as well. I don't have a G-sync monitor, so G-Sync is turned off, and I have no idea why my GPU is acting so weirdly. Can someone help me figure out whats going on? Any help is appreciated.

Also should say that if I disable XMP, everything boots and runs fine. My memory just isn't functioning at the frequency I want

So I recently got a new Z170 motherboard to go with my new i5 processor, but for some reason I cannot seem get my 3000mhz GSkill Aegis RAM to go past 2133 MHz. This is my first time trying to overclock my memory, and I can't get it past BIOS. When I try and enable XMP in the BIOS, it sets it to 3000mhz by default and leaves the rest of the settings, like the timings and whatnot, to "auto", but it won't post after that. Pics related. Again, this is my first time with a Z series motherboard, so maybe I'm just being stupid. Any help is appreciated. So, I am upgrading my PC, including a new processor, RAM and motherboard. I remember reading somewhere that your current copy of Windows (in this case, Windows 7) is somehow bound to your motherboard. Will i need to get Windows 10 to run my PC after I install my new components? And, for that matter, where is the best place to get a new copy of Win 10? I know of Kinguin, but $30 for a new copy of Windows almost seems too good to be true.

I am currently running with a FX 8350, 8GB of RAM and a 6GB GTX 1060 for my gaming setup, but I have been looking at upgrading for some time now. Some guy on Craigslist near me is selling a 4770 with an H97 motherboard and a 4x4 set of Kingston Hyper X RAM for like $400. All I ever really use my computer for is gaming, and was wondering if it's still worth it for an older i7 like that, or if I should just buy new parts like Ryzen or something. Any recommendations?
