So I've recently plugged my laptop onto an external monitor through HDMI. Specs of the laptop (if it matters) i7 7700HQ, GTX 1060 6GB, 32GB RAM. Using the Duplicate option, I get better playback and better scrubbing when video editing in DaVinci Resolve. I also get better Chrome performance (scrolls smoothly, playbacks video smoothly). But when I use the Second Screen Only option, it gets laggy and choppy. Now while gaming, using the Duplicate option yields me lower framerates and it gets choppy in games. Using the Second Screen Only makes it smoother and has higher frame rates. Anyone know why? Thanks

Hi guys! How you been? So there's this problem that I've had for quite a while now. My desktop icons keep switching places every time I play a game or use software that goes into fullscreen. I have a 4K display and most of the games that I play are in 1080p. Let's say I Alt Tab, when I go to my desktop, all of the desktop icons are jumbled and I have to put them into their places everytime. What seems to be the problem?

My only choices are an i3 2c/4t and an i5 4c/8t (i5 8250U)

The processor that I'll be getting is an i3 8th gen. Depending on the price I might go with the i5 8th gen which is 4 cores. I'm wondering how the i3 will do.

Can it do simple cuts in Premiere Pro? My plan is to get a laptop for portability which then I can use to cut videos on the go. Only cutting will be done as my main PC at home will be for the bulk of the work (color grading, transitions, effects, and etc) Btw I'll be cutting 4K videos.

So my SSD slows down halfway during the transfering of files. HDD to SSD it is around 120MB/s but when it transfers the half it goes down to 40MB/s. My SSD is in an Orico USB 3.0 Enclosure. Yesterday speeds were great, getting around 400MB/s Read and 300MB/s Write. But today it is crappy. Anything I should know?

I mean of course there would be an Nvidia GPU.

Do they work together when exporting in Premiere Pro?

So I'm on the verge of buying a speaker. I want to get the Logitech Z200 (White). It costs around $20 and OH BOY, I AM HAVING A HARD TIME LOOKING FOR ONE LOL. Soooo, if I can't find one, are there any alternatives or even better speakers than the Z200 that are color white (Yes because my desk setup is white themed). Any speaker ranging from $20 to $30 that is white. Thank you! PS; I live in the Philippines and I can't find a single Z200.

So this is my revamped workspace. I removed everything and put my desk at the side of my door which lets in way more natural light than my previous location. Help me design this A fake white pot plant is on the way, a monitor arm, and a white wireless mouse is on the way too. Any tips or inspiration that I could get for the wall behind my monitor? I'll also be putting black adhesive wallpaper on my desk to make it look "new" PS; I have no idea if I am on the right thread.

Is Resolve's Render Cache Fusion Output (formerly Render Cache Clip Source) similar to FCPX's Background rendering? If it is then I'll be gladly switching full time to Resolve than Premiere.

Another follow up question. Can an overclocked 1700 beat the 3600 in multicore performance?

Does Premiere Pro use all cores?

Which is better? I am planning to overclock with an MSI B450M Mortar. Planning my build today and would love to build this on my birthday. I am also hoping that 4000 series Ryzen comes out so that prices will drop for the R7 2700 or at least the R5 3600. Let's say I were to build as of this moment, what would be my best bet for video editing only.

So my PC hasn't been turning on lately. I press the power button and nothing happens. I did tests and re-seated every part of my PC and found out that re-seating the 24 Pin Motherboard cable works. I have to plug the cable halfway then press the power button so that it would boot. I 'vealready tried re-seating the CMOS battery, re-seating RAMs, cleaned my PC, and re-seating the whole PSU. What seems to be the problem? Is this a faulty motherboard? Or a faulty PSU? I want to have it fixed so that I can continue on with my regular life lol. PS: Oh and yeah, every time I re-seat the motherboard cable, my BIOS resets all my settings including my overclocks and my storage configs. Any help? The only thing I've yet to try is to buy a new CMOS battery.

So I found a very exciting deal in my area for a Spyder4TV HD. It was listed for only $40. Never been used and still kept inside the box. Being a video and photo editor, can I use this to calibrate my monitor? Found out a few articles that it COULD be used. But any other insights on this?

So I have an idea. It would be helpful if fellow video editors also see this post. Yesterday I was wondering if I could build portable SSDs on the cheap side. I tried an Orico USB 3.0 enclosure and a WD Green 120GB SSD. Since on YouTube most desk setups rely on portable SSDs for editing on-the-go, I tried mine. Here are the results. First image is the SSD connected to SATA and the second image is with the Orico 2.5" USB 3.0 enclosure. Only a 10% loss in performance. QUESTION: Is the 10% loss in performance noticeable when video editing? Compared to a Samsung T5 SSD, this portable SSD matches or sometimes exceeds the T5 (According to benchmarks I saw on YouTube) but with a lower price. WD Green SSDs go for $53 (480GB), $33 (240GB), and $23 (120GB) with the enclosure just around $7. You'd have a 500GB external SSD for much cheaper.

Hi so I'm planning to do a DIY external SSD enclosure. I'll be using a WD Green 480GB SSD and an Orico USB 3.0 2.5" enclosure. How much of a loss am I getting with it on an enclosure? I'm planning to edit videos off of it plugged in a USB 3.0 dock so I can also use my laptop to edit the files on the go (PC to Laptop if I need to go workflow). Any thoughts on this? Any enclosures that you recommend that can get me closer to the advertised read and write speeds of the SSD? Question #2: Are the real world read and write speeds of USB 3.0 enough for video editing? I'll mainly edit 4K footage from Sony A6300 Thanks!

Cinebench R15 scores for the Ryzen 3600 are 1600cb and the Ryzen 2700 are 1200cb In real world experiences are they much different? I use Premiere Pro, which is better? The 2700 is cheaper though.

So yeah. My computer won't turn on every time I shut it down. I have to remove the 24 pin motherboard cable before it powers on. This problem started around a few days ago. At first I thought it was the power button, but after shorting the connector, it still won't turn on. When I removed the 24 pin cable and re connected it, it then turned on. And btw, every time I do that my BIOS settings reset so I have to do my OCs again and again. Oh and every time I shut my PC off, it will turn on back again automatically. Any help?

Checked it just now. Windows said that it already has the best drivers for it.

Recently switched to Windows 10. As far as I know all of the drivers are okay. Why am I getting slow speeds on my USB 3.0 External Drive? 34MB/s when it should around 120MB/s Already checked the USB 3.0 controllers and they are up to date. I also checked the policies, Write Caching is enabled. Am I missing something?
