  1. I've had the MSI 480 for a little while now and the is fantastic for the price and looks bad ass. Installation was a bit of a pain for me since no matter what my monitor's resolution scaling was completely off! I didn't realize that in order for you to install newest drivers you need to fully uninstall the previous. I had to uninstall catalyst as well and get the new crimson thingy. But since I sorted all that, it's performed fantastically. I get 60+FPS on BF 1 ultra and 60+ in total war games on high.
  2. Exactly how I feel right now :'[ must have spent a total of 14 hours doing this and no idea what I'm missing
  3. In my list I mentioned that I tried the GPU in my personal system and it worked just fine I don't get an IGPU option in the bios. The only thing closest related to what a GPU does is call "Power on by PCIE..." something and I don't even know what that does, but I tried it and that didn't help.
  4. Hello, My nephew has an old Gateway DX4870 desktop that he wanted to upgrade to be able to 1080p game. I checked the specs and it all seemed compatible with newer GPU's. I bought him a GTX 1060 Windforce edition and plugged the sucker in but get a black screen. Specs: CPU i5 3300 mobo Some asus board, has PCIE x16 slot 8 GB RAM PSU 500W EVGA I've done a TON of things to troubleshoot but NOTHING works!! Here's a list of things I've tried: - re-seating everything and quintuple checking connections, trying one or both ram sticks in different slot, reinstalled CPU with new thermal paste - Test GPU on my own system (it worked) - Install new PSU (500W EVGA Bronze) - Uninstall windows onboard gfx drivers then installiing the GPU - Starting up safemode, disabling windows drivers, reinstalling GPU - Bios Update (No new updates for this system) - Looking for PEG or PCI-E in Bios (isn't there), or other video related options - Installing GTX 1060 drivers before installing the GPU (doesn't allow me to do that) - Tried downloading Driver Fusion but you need to pay for that garbage - Resetting CMOS (Both battery and Jumper) The PC works just fine without the GPU installed. The Mobo has video output. Whenever I even seat the GPU in the PCIE slot, with 6 pin removed/connected, it doesn't allow the mobo video output to even work! This is also the first time a GPU has been installed in this system. There's some other things I tried but it's SUCH a pain and I don't want the little guy to be disappointed. From what I've deduced, the PCI-e slot on the Mobo is dead but everything else on it works. I don't want to have to purchase a new mobo! Is there anything I've missed? Please help! Thanks!
  5. I didn't think about asking him to try his thinking it'd be too imposing, but ill give it a shot! I will update soon!
  6. The fX6300, to my knowledge, doesn't have integrated graphics. I read on a different thread that FX series CPU's need a Mobo with integrated graphics to have video output without a GPU. This is the Mobo i currently have http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131872 I can't seem to find if it has integrated graphics or not
  7. Not really sure how to do that. The card is an MSI one and I purchased it over a year ago. No outputs from the mob I've tried HDMI and VGA to DVI and HDMI to DVI on the GPU inputs and nothing.
  8. Hello.I've been struggling for a while with my hardware problems on my self built PC. Here are the specs:CPU: AMD FX 6300GPU: R9 280MOBO: Gigabyte 970A UD3P(i think)RAM: Gskill Sniper 4GB x2PSU: EVGA Bronze 500wIt worked fine for a year straight and then it started randomly crashing. I would reboot and I'd check errors log and it would say something like a "Kernel power..." something. It stopped Posting after a while.Thinking that this was a problem with PSU or Mobo, I ordered a new PSU(corsair 650) and Mobo(asus) and even a motherboard speaker to check for beep codes because neither Mobos came with one. Still, no post and the beep code has been a consistent single beep every boot. Finally, I gave the GPU to a friend to test on his rig and he couldn't get any picture on his screen either, but the fans were running.Any help is appreciated!
