  1. Hi there, I would like to gain some knowledge which I have hard time to find in google in details about using PCI-E NVME inside of PCI-E GPU slot. Right now I am using Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming motherboard with Ryzen 5 2600 X. Link to mobo: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X470-AORUS-ULTRA-GAMING-rev-10#kf First M2 slot is used already for my OS and software (500GB Samsung Pro 970 NVME), I cannot find good and fast NVME for 2280 slot so I am looking forward to PCI-E NVME, currently for Plextor 1TB PCI-E M9peY. Link to disk: https://www.goplextor.com/Product/Detail/M9Pe(Y)#/Features Problem is - I am using Gigabyte RTX 2070 which means top short PCI-E is unavailable for me in term of usign disk and bottom one (below first PCI-E x16) is covered by cooling system of GPU. I am left with long PCI-E slots. From manual and my techy knowledge, I understand that: - First slot is genuine PCI-E 3.0 X16 - Second is genuine PCI-E 3.0 X16/X8 (shares bandwidth with first slot, change both to X8 when there is second GPU in SLI/nLink) - Third is long PCI-E X4 shared with second M.2 slot 2242/2260/2280. I have never used PCI-E disks before, this is my first attempt so I am looking for theoretical and practical knowledge of how to mount it, which slot should I use, how does it affect CPU PCI-E lines and performance etc. In general also - if it will work in long PCI-E X4 (third black non-reinforced slot in mobo). TL;DR - I am hungry for knowledge so there is no tl;dr Cheers! Michael
  2. No, didn't tried. Hearing stories about 20xx cards dying so fast, no matter of brand, I am thinking first that it might be my RTX dying on me week after being bought (and RMA already one time). Could I ask you to tell me, what kind of tests to do on safe-mode? Iirc GPU drivers are not loaded, Windows is using his own build in once to keep it working (unless I am wrong, then please fix my knowledge, I will be glad about that). Cheers, Michael
  3. Hi there folks, Before we start, all required information: CPU: Ryzen 5 2600X (no OC right now, stock clocks, Ryzen Master: https://cryolite.s-ul.eu/21SL3EfT.png) Cooler: NZXT Kraken X62 v2 (it tend to squeak for some reason while going into silent mode) RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB (2 x 8GB) CL15 3200 (X.M.P. Profile active, default in BIOS, Samsung B-die modules) GPU: Gigabyte nVidia RTX 2070 Gaming OC 8GB (Windforce edition) - 417.22 driver version Mobo: Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming (BIOS ver. F3 [2018/08/08]) OS: Windows 10 Home Edition Detailed explanation of problem: 3D Mark Free edition - passed completely without single fps drop or stuttering Furmark - was running it for 10 hours art 1920x1080, full load - no crash at all Right now, I get random crashes ingame. It looks exactly like that (all games played on 1920x1080, most possible ultra settings with MSAA/TSAA on max): Shadow of the Tomb Raider (DX12 / DX11 - doesn't matter) - game stops for 1-2 seconds and go back to desktop, no crashlog, game just turn off. Monster Hunter World - completely random crash, might be after 10 minut of gameplay, happen after even 6 hours in weekend - same - game closes to desktop Ring of Elysium - first time crashed after 5 min of gameplay, second time after several hours, third time after 2 hours, complete random, same - close up to desktop Worth of notice - SotTR once created BSOD - sound crashed (repeat of 0,1s sample, game stayed frozen for 2-3s), Windows went into BSOD and immidiatly restarted, dump file corrupted completely (had like 40kb size). Now, from other way: Crysis 3 - works perfectly on highest possible settings with ReShade (around 70 fps @ 1920x1080 with Eye-Candy reshade settings on grass place in the beginning), was playing for several hours, not a single drop below 60, not a single stutter, nothing, just pleasure to play. Assassin Creed: Syndicate - same as Crysis, never experienced crash Black Desert Online (eye-candy reshade too) - around 50-60 fps at mass fight, around 80-90 normally in city, was running it for long time and not a single crash. Computer setup is new. I had one situation where first time, shop got an broken RTX (didn't even passed 3DMark, while on first test just crashed system and started spitting artifacts as they told me), they got new one - friend who works in shop took care to note card serial number and second one which came after they RMA first one was other. I do plan to OC this setup pretty heavily, already invested into Grizzly Kryonaut Thermal Paste and temps on CPU are way better, I think about disassembling GPU cooler and change thermal compound there too before any OC. Right now, I don't know if this all this crashes are: - dying GPU - crap m$ windows - nvidia being derp as always with their drivers I am open for any suggestions to do more tests and possibly find out what should I do. GPU is registered for 4 years warranty so I can fight Gigabyte until they hate me. If you need any more information, post, I will try to check this thread few times each day, depends on workload. Cheers! Michael
  4. That's amazing point. External PSU is not a problem for me. Mobo looks great, i don't look much for CPU since its usage will be minimal anyway. Didn't knew that my case supports mini-ITX, good point, thanks for it. About this one fan, if i for example put one at back, which one would you recommend from this "quiet" once? Thanks a lot for help, appreciate it! Michael.
  5. Hello, I figured out lately that i have unused CoolerMaster N200, not even unpacked etc. So how to use it when i have 6 PC in home and family like to watch movies from internet. I decided to build up small file sharing/media center machine, based on linux distribution. The problem is - room with router is pretty calm, unfortunately while my home was build, ISP got a cable to my sleeping room (hey, it wasn't sleeping room before!). I really would love to sleep without any noise so this machine needs to be completely calm, silent, passive cooled. What i have right now: - CM N200 case (already removed all fans from it) - Kingston V300 240gb SSD What i need: - Older parts like CPU and motherboard with integrated GPU which can be completely passive cooled - mobo needs to be microATX to fit case. - Passive PSU If you give parts name, i will note if some of them not ship to Poland. Your ideas how to build this. I am not specialist in building such machines, only thing what i can do is take parts and build up normal PC (without water cooling implementation). I could buy older parts from auction sites, it's not a problem, they don't need to be new and top tier, i am aiming for really cheap budget setup. Custom made parts are not a problem, i am living in small village so a lot of handwork here :). Right now i was thinking to cut top of my N200 and replace it with anti-dust airy material, same thing to side parts so case will have way better air flow. Anything else - i appreciate every help and ideas. Whenever i will build this, i will share vLog/pictures with you and performance tests. Cheers! Michael
