  1. Saw the vid on LTT a while ago, was hoping something like that endeavor just with a m-itx and less space; basically was looking for m-itx case size like the Steiger Dynamics console sized m-itx but fanless or dead quiet
  2. Would a custom full fitting industrialized gpu block with fins (like on a cpu cooler work) ; assuming I underclock the card; not looking for OCing here or anything crazy, more like a single screen 4k, max graphics playback on not flagship gpu intensive titles
  3. Was looking around google and couldnt find any true silent gpu's out there that aren't mid tier (gtx 750 , 1050ti was all I found), I am not big on watercooling or fans (even the strix smart cool fans on my 950ti are kind of pushing it) I was wondering if anyone knew any ways or any brands that sell passive cooled 1070s or 1080s or even a Titan, that are entirely passive cooled OR if there is some sort of site that manufactures custom fanless aftermarket passive cooled heatsinks for such cards? ,thanks yall
  4. Alright so I made a mini-itx build with a core v1 case and realized I need two pcie cards, not just the video card. Since the video card im getting takes up two expansion slots, I plan to just get a case with 3 and get a pcie splitter. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a pcie splitter that splits x16 (x16 speed) into two x16( x8 speed) , I am trying to find something along the lines of the RVZ0-1 from silverstone where there is a 90 degree pcie extension but for two pcie ports and being able to fit in a typical m-itx case (not necessarily my core v1) , thanks yall, any help will be much appreciated!
  5. Quite a bit, I've almost exclusively had dual core comps for most of my life, aside one or two quad cores, but didn't use em much to make a noticable impact; now that im on the comp all day, im strongly considering it (seeing as the CPU is the most important part for the purposes of this build)
  6. So I am building a PC which is going to be EVENTUALLY used for software development as well as a general personal use PC; however, I am initially going to use it to convert/re-download over 2TB of video (lots of small files, not a few large files; about ~100k video files of various formats alone), as well as to convert and edit my 10k song collection of flac's. Time is not too big of an issue, but my dell laptop running an N2840 is just not cutting it; especially when I am also always compressing/decompressing files and running 2 dozen tabs on Chrome. So far my build plan is (owned items are italicized): -Gigabyte H170n m-itx motherboard -Corsair 250D case -2x 2tb WD green drives -Samsung 850evo 120gb (currently running OS on the laptop) -16gb DDR4 2133 kingston hyperfuryX -Intel 600p 256gb (Will be main OS, 850evo ain't cutting it) -500W silverstone strider bronze modular PSU (settling on silvestone cause I already own modular cable kit PP05E for it) -GTX 750STRIX (used to game, not much anymore) -Finally, I can't decide whether to doll out the extra $100 for an i5-6400 or stick with an I3-6100 (dilemma here is whether I need the 2 extra cores, the i3 has HT) budget wise, I can't afford an i7, and the 16gb of ram choice was made since im currently topping 6gb of ram usage on my pc currently tl;dr: If im building a PC strictly for file conversion, compression, storage, compiling, and web browsing (SIMULTANEOUSLY); would I be better of with 4 cores or is i3 with 2(4) cores enough?
  7. Hello, first time poster here; I was wondering if anyone, knows of any brands, company's, or just legacy hardware that provides daughter boards, custom motherboard making, very large motherboards, or the like for systems with sockets of the era between ~2000-2012 ish; What I am particularly looking for is perhaps a daughterboard like in Linus's 8 gamers on a single pc video, where there is a daugherboard connected to the motherboard which acts as a riser for a large number of pci or pcie slots; moreover if anyone knows any large motherboards (year/decade is irrelevant) that supports potential 2+ cpu sockets, and (preferably a mix) of pci and pcie slots (9+ , preferably 12 or so). Speed of the ports is irrelevant here since the build will most likely use one GPU, and the rest of the slots being populated with either rs-232 or DB-25 connector cards, along with scsi, ipmi, and a variety of proprietary ports. Price is irrelevant. The case for this build will most likely contain some variation of a mountainmods case , if not a custom built case. If anyone has information on any sites of such hardware (aside Ebay, Craigslist); please let me know ,thanks yall
