  1. Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I just ordered a Corsair H60 V3 AIO cooler, I heard they are very silent, maybe I can even overclock somewhat with it. Although I don't expect very much from it.
  2. Everything is running just fine. However the stock cooler gets really loud and during stress testing all cores were at 4.1 GHz with 70-80 degrees Celsius. Definitely gonna need to invest into a better cooler, yikes. I have yet to hit the advertised 4.4 GHz on a core, highest so far was 4.3 GHz. Did I just get unlucky in the silicon lottery or this normal?
  3. Yeah I was worried about that the plastic around the pins might get too hot. I don't know what the durability is of the plastic used but if the Pins already can get that hot I think everything will be fine.. I hope.
  4. I got the cheapest Asrock X570 board, I doubt it will report socket temp. I am currently putting everything back together, so haven't been able to check if it does either
  5. So, we all know that the heat plate of the CPU can get pretty hot, but what about the Pins that are attached (in case of AMD) or connected (Intel) to the CPU?? This question popped up in my head when I applied the AMD Wraith cooler and cooling paste just squirted out of all sides since there was way to much stock cooler paste applied, Thanks AMD. So I had to clean that up and when I took out the CPU some of the paste happened to fall into the socket.. GREAT. SO cleaning that up as well, very carefully, I noticed that there still was some traces of paste left I couldn't clean up with the contact cleaner tool. I am not too worried about the system being broken as the paste isn't covering any pins to connect with the MB and it is not conductive, but it is still thermal paste.. so I am worried about how hot the socket might get now due to heat transfer with paste and pins? Odd question, but hey maybe someone had this investigated here!
  6. No we can present an idea and if they are okay with it you develop a plan. If the plan is good you just implement it and write down the thesis + opposition.
  7. That's a pretty broad statement. In which way do you think they are bad?
  8. A comparison of raytracing RTX vs. GTX Compute shaders would imply that I need to buy a RTX card.. so probably won't do that ^^
  9. Hey Guys, In about 2 weeks I will start working on my Bachelor Thesis in CS. My educational background is Game Programming so I think they would like to see some relevence to game development for the thesis. Anyways, I have some ideas for what framwework I would like to work in: - NO user studies - Should be performance related - Something with DirectX 12 The scope is 15 ECTS credit points and the time span is about 3-4 months. A teacher of mine suggested to maybe look into data traversel for big scenes in DX12 (Harddisk->Memory->Graphics card). This would be relevant for something like open world games, which has become very popular amongst developers these days. Anyways, I'm really terrible at coming up with ideas.. so I hope you guys could help me with ideas or just hint at something that you think I should look into. Thanks in advance!
  10. Sorry for the late response, been on vacation. But yes, you were right about the connection. The SATA-cable was the culprit. I changed it with one from another Drive and now everything seems to be fine for the 3TB HDD. The SSD that got the HDD's cable is now suddenly not even showing up anymore, but when I switch to yet another cable its there and the drive that got the problem-cable has well.. problems. Time to go and order new cables!

    help

I think its possible. But for this to work chrome must be the last previous application used and the youtube page must be the one in focus on the browser. The sequence then becomes something like this: F2 = Alt+Tab -> Space (only works if the video player is focused) -> Alt+Tab (back into your main application) Another approach might be to make use of some smart Add On in Chrome, which I don't know if it exist, that makes sure that even if you are unfocused on the video player it makes sure that during a certain event (like pressing Space + Alt or whatever keybind it might use) it pauses it for you. In that way you can set up your sequence in a more failsafe manner. As always you can tweak the sequence to make it more failsafe. There are surely more ways to approach this problem, maybe you come up with an more elegant solution than this.
  12. I'm gonna leave this thread now. I stand by my point: Gsync isn't worth in my opinion, there are free solutions to deal with common problems such as screen tearing and vsync input lag. Though it can be gimmicky to setup properly, it's still cheaper and more worth your time. You also learn some new things about technology which is always great.
  13. Latency is the Ping you have in your game but from what you said you won't have to deal with bad ping anyway (assuming the games servers aren't shit)
  14. Also a good way to deal with the input lag you have when enabling Vsyn is to limit the Application to just below the monitors refresh rate. That should deal with the input lag and you will have the benefits of vsync. EDIT: So if you have 60Hz on the monitor make sure the application is running at 59 Hz.
  15. well that's just your bandwidth, we are talking about the latency
