It is a good laptop. Looks very sturdy. Loaded with ubuntu 14.04Lts. However, I am facing problems in upgrading to 16.04lts Tried twice and the upgrade fails to install new Linux kernel 4.4. So I have to choose older kernel at boot and it does not work properly. That's after two days of efforts in configuration without success. Thanks for the tip to switch to core i3 though. Works well and got a great deal on the laptop.

Ohkay... so maybe I should begin with core i3 laptops. And I am sure any core i3 would meet with my expectations. Let me get back with some of those.

What if I switch the mechanical hard drive with an ssd? New machine, still cheaper than a second hand ThinkPad.

I use a ThinkPad e420. Its good, but I chose asus e402ma for its weight 1.6kg compared to everything else. Also that thinkpad is 1.5 times dearer. However, if that asus is no good then I guess this ThinkPad is a good thing. Thanks.
