  1. Hello to everyone! finally desided to buy a new laptop! I want a portable light & powerful laptop because i move a lot between houses. Now i have two two candidates : 1. Asus Zenbook Pro 14 OLED - with i9 , 32gb ram & rtx4060. 2. MSI Stealth 14 Studio - with i7, 32gb ram & rtx4070. Nanoreview link The difference in price is around 180$ in my country(asus cheaper) . My usege involves : 1. Light gaming - 60 fps in full hd is all i want and mostly i play JRPG or strategy game (really want to play homeworld 3 when it will be out) 2. Photo editing - lightroom 3. Engineering work with matlab. Docking support is also very important to me I tend to lean towards the asus since it has better screen, sd card slot, cheaper and overall the design ia very slightly more appealing to me. Am i missing something? How's your experience with thous laptops? Do you recommend something else?
  2. i have found a solution. i used Beyond Compare, and used the "ignore folder structure" and then switch to the "same" option.
  3. it seems only a search engine. don't see a way of finding multiple files
  4. i have two dirs with two attemps to recover the same data, one is sorted and the other is not. the sorted has many of the unsorted files aleardy (maybe all) i need a way to see what exist and what not.
  5. Hello!! due to unfortunate circumstances. I am in the middle of recovering my files. I managed to recover two parts of my picture directory: 1. came sorted in the old folders & subfolders 2. came as a big chunk of pictures that are not sorted of course, much of 2 already exists in 1. but I don't know how much. 2 has 8000+ pictures so manually checking would take too long. is there software that can automatically do the checking? online I only found coding solutions and I don't want to learn python only for this... thanks!!!
  6. that sound nice. is there a softwere that does such incremental backups that you recomend?
  7. yes your right about qnap. i guss some things you learn the hard way. is there no sync software solution that can detect when files are encrypted? even simpler: a softwere that you can define in a way that will only add\remove files but will not alter the file itself without approval.
  8. So, like many others with a qnap NAS, all my files got encrypted by deadbolt attack. before the attack to protect the important parts of my data i built an automatic sync(with qsync) between the NAS and 2 computers. that was very comfortable since any change in one of the computers would auto-sync to the nas and the 2nd computer. so I innocently thought that I was protected from anything. if something happen to the nas or the computers I have 2 more backups. but that were deadbolt rocked my world. when it attacked the nas the automatic sync had automatically synced the encrypted files to the 2 computers... destroying my backups... so now after a long time of recovery (i managed in some ways to recover some data) I'm thinking about how to step up now. how do I sync my systems so that won't happen again. will I have to do a manual sync each time? my nas doesn't have a RAID since i don't have much space. (would that even helped? or would the files on the raid would also be encrypted). how do you sync between your systems? worth to note that I work on the 2 computers and would like that files on them will be up to date. Thanks for the advice! My device: Qnap TS - 228A
  9. hi guys! i am studying engineering in a university, and until now in order to connect to my home computer from the library computers i used teamviwer. but now teamviwer has kicked me out because it suspects the library computers to be commercial use... so pls help me to find an alternative! what i need: a remote control program that doesn't have to be installed(cant install nothing on library computers ) what i tried: * anydesk - keeps disconnecting without reason couldn't find case *chrome remote control - library doesn't have chrome *parsec - cant install in library *aeroadmin - horrible quality of connection my home computer has heavy programs like ansys, matlab and etc that i must have access too. so please help!

    Will it die?

Thanks for your reply! I actually understand in the field a Little and i don't think its a loose connection. thats becouse: * i dont close the lid. By this point the laptop became stationary. And i just turn off the screen when i am finished with my work * the phenomenon happens only in the first minutes after its being turned on, if that was a loose connection it would be coming and going. *i tried pressenig on the broken part and arround it to see if it has any affect of the Phenomena and it doesn't. I even went as far as shaking the whole laptop to see if it will make it go away. It didnt. Unfortunately my laptop is crucial to my work and study and i cannot part from it(for the near future).so i don't go the electricion. But i have no problem replecing the screen myself. ( but new one is coslty) Thats why its importent for me to know if i might loose the ability to use it.

    Will it die?

Hi guys! I have a lenovo laptop y700. Around a year ago it fell and cracked the screen a Little on the edge. The crack it self doesn't bother me that much its small and on the edge. But since i got a wierd phenomenon. Each time i turn on the display there are pink lines flashing on the display. First It stoped after less then a minute. So i didn't care. But as time went on it stayed for longer and became more drastic. Now it takes it arround 5 minutes to stop. Does someone knows this phenomenon? Will the screen die in a few months? Thanks for the help!
  12. ok i did it. and this is what it shows me(in the pics). any idea what know?
  13. all my pcs at home are laptops so that will take some time(and not the easy once with the hdd available in the back). i tried to mount another hdd to make sure that the mount itself is ok. do you still think that connecting thru sata will help?
