    What ya got?

@lewdicrous No worries. I was honestly confused from what you were saying and just wanted to make sure I understood you.

    What ya got?

@lewdicrous So what was the point of your post above?
  3. Grabow

    What ya got?

@lewdicrous That's what this post is for. Determining what would be a fair price for someone willing to buy this pc.
  4. Grabow

    What ya got?

@lewdicrous for the person I am trying to sell this too the performance difference at 1080p would be barely noticeable. They won't want to build their own pc and just want something they can buy and then play games on. These specs at 1080p still crush it with almost every title at ultra. Some need to go to high or maybe medium depending on title.

    What ya got?

@PacketMan Yeah that does sound more realistic. $800 might be hopeful and $700-$750 might be more realistic. @DarkEnergy It seems like $800 might be the "highest bidders" price. $750ish seems more doable.

    What ya got?

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cPHGzY This is my current build and I am wanting to sell it. It is just so hard to put a fair price on this build because the hardware is still so capable, especially if you are gaming at 1080p. I was thinking $900 - $1000 That seems fair because if you were to build something new at this price point you would have to compromise on quite a few pieces.

    Dell XPS dual boot

I need to do some thinking on this. You have raised very good points and that article makes me rethink my wants.

    Dell XPS dual boot

@Mira Yurizaki I use my mbp 15 primarily for web dev environment. Almost anything I do on that CAN be done on windows 10 or linux setup. I just prefer when it comes to working in that territory with colleagues and other projects I find mac to be easier to setup and get going instead of win10 or linux. HMMMMM what if i got new mbp and just ran boot camp to get windows 10 to work on that?!?! wonder if eGPU support would be an issue here though. Was hoping this would work on the dell xps lineup because it seems like a better setup. (more ports, better thermals, etc)

    Dell XPS dual boot

@lieder1987 I was thinking about this after looking at a lot of hackintosh builds. Most of them lose a lot of features that you would get on just a plain mac. Like airdrop, imessage, bluetooth, sometimes wifi, or ports don't work.
  10. Has anyone seen a successful dual boot of Windows 10 and MacOS on a Dell xps laptop either 13 or 15 variety? I have a dream of an ideal TRULY all in one setup. This setup would be as follows: A xps laptop that on startup up gives me the option to boot either into windows or macOS. Has thunderbolt3 capability to run an external GPU. When I am at home I can "dock up" with one cable and have the external GPU work with both windows and mac. That way I can go mobile with the same system I run at home instead of having to have multiple setups. (currently MBP 15 and my custom desktop win10) Specs would be: at least i7 8750H 16gb ddr4 2666mhz 1TB Nvme SSD (70% for macOS partition, 30% for win10 partition) 2TB SSD for win10 eGPU enclosure with possibly vega 56 or 64 depending on price and compatiblity with with both OSes. 27" 1440p monitors for desktop use when docked to eGPU Am I living in a fairy tale world with fairy tale dreams?

@jstudrawa Yeah it seems like the CPU is still perfect for my needs. Seems like what most people are saying. Upgrade the monitor which would also mean I would need to upgrade my gpu.

Current setup is as follows: CPU: i7 4790k 4.4Ghz CPU Cooler: Corsair H60 (2016 maybe?) MOBO: MSi z97 sli krait edition RAM: 8Gb(2 x 4Gb 1866mhz ddr3) GPU: EVGA GTX 970 4Gb SSD: WD Black NVME 256Gb HDD: x2 WD Black 2Tb Case: Phanteks 400s TG PSU: Fractal Desgin 750w 80+ Gold Monitor: Acer 27" 1080p ips 60hz I feel like it is time to upgrade something. However, I am getting decent to great frame rates on almost everything I play. Currently BF V is the most graphically intense game I play and I get anywhere fro 60 to 90fps depending on the map. My ram currently seems to be the only real bottle neck but when I hit my system the hardest it still stays at 80 to 90% usage. I guess I can't really pin what I need or should upgrade. Everything seems to working just fine and I have no real issues with the games I play. My brother tells me that I should upgrade to a 120 or 144hz panel but that would most likely mean I upgrade my GPU seeing my 970 cant even push 100fps on the games I currently play. The only thing that I think I should upgrade is add more ram to 16Gb total (ddr3 seems to be more expensive than ddr4 and less in stock though) or replace my Corsair H60 (seems to not really handle the 4790k especially long gaming sessions the radiator gets hot to the touch. Feel like I should keep this system and maybe tweak a few things to get another year or so out of it.

    Is it time?

Wow, the nvidia side of the gsync and freesync battle is a lot more expensive. The monitors that offer gsync are a lot more than those with freesync. Plus amd graphics are cheaper right now.
  14. Grabow

    Is it time?

If thats the case and it seems reasonable. Should I go for AMD's solution of freesync with a rx 580 or something? Currently game at 1080p on a 60hz panel Keep hearing that 144hz refresh rate is like seeing a completely different game.

    Is it time?

There is no concern of bottlenecking a 1080 with this setup?
