Turns out it was a faulty cpu, had nothing to do with the nvme drive. Just never had a faulty cpu that would post and nearly boot/install to windows.

Spent 6 hours troubleshooting this thing. This is third motherboard after 2 RMAs, can see the nvme drive clearly in the BIOS, but windows fails to find it. It is running in AHCI mode, in UEFI (not CSM), have tried x16 and x4/x4/x4/x4 on the pci configuration. Have flipped just about everything I can think of in the bios, updated the bios to an 11/13 build, flashed the bios. I'm at a loss. Even tried a couple of old Samsung evos I've got laying around, and both which are clean drives, cause windows to go into a boot loop when attempting to load windows so that was no dice either. Please, please help. Just to note, ssd was successfully installed to and used on a separate Intel based system as a test. System specs: MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge Wifi AM4 board Ryzen 5 3600X HP EX950 Gen3 ssd (for boot drive) 2 x 8 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200 memory RX 5700 XT 850W Gold Certified psu

Matter of a fact it is 1 cable running a split. Its an Antec 750 watt Gold rated modular power supply. Its from my previous build, so its about 6-7 years old. Think it could be that?

I've gotten page fault BSOD, Video_TDR_Failure BSOD, as well as a few others. Windows registry has been repaired, and short of literally replacing components, I've done everything on that list already.

And yes, XMP on or off, its still BSOD between every 2-10 hours. Not often enough to make the computer unusable, but often enough to interrupt gaming/workflow. The memory tests I've run all come back clean.

I've got an MSI MPG Gaming Edge Wifi motherboard, Ryzen 7 3700x, Radeon RX 5700 xt, and 32 GB (2x16) Trident Z Ram (non-AMD optimized). Long story short, I keep getting BSOD with different errors, all to do with atimdag.sys, and from what I've been able to find it either comes down to a driver error with the 5700xt or the RAM settings themselves. I've tried doing a complete uninstall and reinstall of the drivers for both chipset and graphics card, I've ran with both XMP on and off. I did a thorough memory test using HCI Memtest, came back entirely clean. There were some registry errors that sfc fixed, but didn't make the BSODs go away. I tried using a DRAM calculator for Ryzen I found and input the custom settings and the computer wouldn't even post, so I had to reset the cmos again. I've exhausted what I know how to do, and not finding a ton of utilities out there specific to MSI's BIOS gui for RAM settings as the calculator I had wasn't a perfect fit, I had to do best guess on a few of the settings. Any guidance at all would be much appreciated.

Thanks all for the input. The noise from the card isn't something I'm worried about as I have a window air conditioner almost always going beside my computer, I was more worried about thermals. If it just runs hot, but doesn't throttle, that's something I live with, so with that said I'll probably just keep the card then. Thank you all for the input.

I've edited to reflect the correct RMA. Part of the purchase was replace only, the other part, card included, I could get a refund. Just wondering from other people's experiences if the situation with it has gotten any better in the month since through driver updates and such. I could refund the card, just weighing my options. Again, still appreciate the input.

Just wondering, would it be best to go with the Gamer's Nexus fix to get a little better performance out of it, or commit to a full water loop and just put a water block on it? I definitely want the 5700 xt, just I know the reference card gets has a bad rap in regards to its cooling. Had I not gotten so trigger happy on my new build I would have remembered to check for the new cards that are out. Any and all suggestions are welcome, and yes, I know I'm an idiot for not double checking before finalizing the purchase, lol.
