  1. I want to stream both video (plex?) and steam in home streaming from my pc to my 4k tv. What would people suggest as a htpc to connect to my tv for gaming and watching video from my pc in the other room in 4k. Some other information. I can get a copy of windows for free, I do have a cat6 to my tv to my router and I am in Canada so Canadian dollars.
  2. is the used 970 included in the $500 - $600 price? if yes, how much is it? (assuming you have one lined up already) Also is your price in us dollars? Is this your first pc or do you have parts you want to re-use? Edit: also why ddr3? ddr3 means you are locked into old cpu architecture.
  3. Here is a link to Nvidia's tos, can be found at the bottom of "Grant of License." Here is a link to the Reddit thread where i first saw it. Is there any reason why they would do this other than to try to bully people into paying for their Quadro or Tesla lines?
  4. if i were you i would go with a single 8 gig stick instead of 2x4 since that mb only has 2 slots and we are coming dangerously close to the point where 8gb may not be enough in some situations. best to leave yourself with options imo.
  5. A lapdesk like this one can work but get a tenkeyless keyboard or better yet one of these guys and some velcro or something to hold it in place since keyboards really like to slide around if they are on a moving surface. other than that get a good, big mouse pad (i have the steelseries xl) other option is steam controller or xbone controller for games that support them but that isnt every game so ymmv there. probably also going to want to get some usb extensions, if you go over 6 feet i would recommend getting a powered hub. (I have this one.) edit: what keyboard do you currently have? the corsair lapdog may also be an option if you already have a compatible keyboard. I also have one of these for general web browsing, watching movies, ect. it works great for that but it is kind of terrible for gaming so you will probably want that to supplement other options, not as your main option.
