  1. Well, not many peoply have to see it. Just a few teachers and perhaps some handfull of other people. My work is interactive, with buttons, scrolling text, popping frames ect. I know you can export to a interactive PDF. But I don't want it to to open like a normal PDF, were you open it and alles pages are vertical row and you scroll down for ever. (also the zoom-in is also standard on 175% first) If its gone be a PDF like that, then my buttons and the other interactive stuff serve no purpose and will also feel very cheap in my opinion. Or is that what you ment with "Facing pages"? Which will make it feel more like a Ipad/website kinda thing? (haven't read your link yet, but I can see its a very long page )
  2. Hi all, I am making a report for my school, which I am making in Adobe Indesign. The format is Digital publishing. I know what digital publishing is used for (ipad, iphones ect) But I was wondering, can it some how be uploaded on the internet or mabye via a website that can host it. My indesign file is a bit bigger then a size of a normal ipad (1024 x 768 px). Can you some how do this and make some sort of online link? Or something like that is not possable with indesign and I just gotta upload it into my folio builder and make my teachers read it/watch it on a ipad via my adobe content viewer account? Mabye other suggestions from the experience people? Since I want to keep working in Indesign <_< Greetz from Holland.
  3. We have the PC already, just need to replace the HHD and we using mac OS X, not the newest update though (not mavericks). Good question about the budget, I dunno, how much would it cost for the decent server with the stuff we have already? Don't think we have 1gb ethernet connection, gotta check on that.
  4. Uhm yea. For example they take some picture from the server, adjust it with some Adobe prorgramm and then save it again (overwrite) directly on the server. Same goes for other stuff like movie clips. It will primarily be used as data storage but it would be nice if we could let 1 or 2 people also directly work on it. The PC(server) will be ofcourse running 24/7
  5. Hello fellow members, I'm a newbie on this subject so I was hoping to mabye get some advise about making my own server for data storage and perhaps also work actively work on it. My initial plan was to build an avarage PC, put a few 3-4 TB Harddrives in it and connect it through wifi and perhaps install some program on it which manage the HDD's. But I guess thats not how it works  What I want is a working server for storage and if possable also let 2 people max. work directly on the server without stressing it out. We are a small 10 man company which works with alott of Adobe programms and editing programms and a good reliable server would help us out alott. Just wondering if its possable to make a decent server of your own, even for a rookie like me? Or do I need to buy one of those premade servers were you can just pop-in a HHD in the bay and all will be fine ? Greetz from Holland.
  6. Hey WoodenMarker, sorry for the late reply (busy and stuff ) We mostly use Adobe CC programm, a few iMacs still have CS6 but we eventually going to transition those to CC aswell. I do agree a bit with IdeaStormer posts about OS environment, having a PC among lotts of iMacs and visa versa. But it should't be a big problem, not a concern for us really. Just one more question, mabye a bit stupid question but I'm planning to build this PC with the proper components and then install the Mac OS on it (OS X). It should not be a problem right? For example I make something with any kinda of Adobe programm (with the new PC build) and then save it and put the file on a other iMac and continue my work ther. I won't run in errors or bugs I think. I have experience in PC building but I have never made one and put OS X on it. I never manually installed a Mac OS is what I am actually trying to say  Sidenote: We do time to time download a cracked version of some Adobe programm or sometimes the whole suite, like adobe creative suite for cs6. Even though our busness is going good and we have around 12 employers my boss sometimes doesn't feel like paying for those Adobe licenses Just puting it out ther because I know sometimes errors and bugs happens because using cracked versions. Thx for all the feedback btw, everybody. Cheers
  7. Wow. Thx for all the responses guys. I am looking through it and all the stuff you guys posted. As for your comment MarthiniL, the PC stays stationary and he does want the best possible performance, solong it doesn't get insanly expensive (who doesn't ) The GTX 670 is famed among many yea, although my boss is a bit wary about overclocking, just a personal thing. I just wonder, how important is a good GPU for these kinda builds? I was already considering going NVIDIA because of the CUDA's indeed. I was thinking to mabye go for a GTX 700 series although I am not sure if you gona notice the difference between a GTX 670 and one from the 700 series. Thx again everybody, will take my time to look at all of your builds and advises.
  8. Hello everybody, I recently work at a new place as graphic designer and my boss is a really nice guy (lucky me). He asked me if I could build a system that could be a powerhouse and could work under alott of pressure and still work smoothly (using adobe Photoshop, After Effects and Final Cut Pro ect ect and also having other programms in the background). I know my stuff about computer building (build my own PC) but I do not know every thing about every component in detail, still enough room to increase my knowledge. Normally how things would go for my boss is he would just buy a new iMac 27 inch for around around 1800-2100 euro (we live in the Netherlands) The specs on that are ussualy a intel core i5 CPU around 3.0 GHz with 16GB 1600MHz RAM and the GPU most of the time is a NVIDIA Geforce with 1GB. I was wondering if the more experience people could help me advise on what components I should focus on a build like this. For abit cheaper price as a iMac 27 inch I want to build a powerhouse system for editing and the use of visual programms. So any experience people on this subject that can push me in the right direction ? Greets, Javier Catalan The Netherlands
