  1. Budget (including currency): 300 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games, Web browsing, Streaming, Word Processing Hi guys, need some tips, wondering if I should replace my motherboard with my pre-built. I usually build my own systems but got a pre-built to get a 3080Ti (both for stock and a reasonable price). This PC comes with an Asrock Z590 C/AC with an 8 Phase VRM. CPU is an 11700KF. Wondering if I should upgrade the board to something like an Asus TUF Z590 which has 14+2 Phase VRMs or a GIGABYTE Z590 AORUS ELITE? I just don't know the reliability of this current board though it seems decent. Might do some mild overclocking at most if at all. Does 8 vs 14Phase VRM really matter here? (I'm not too hardup about the other board features) Thanks for your help!!!!
  2. Want to build a HTPC which will also be used for light work (mostly word processing). For the first time in my life I won’t be going intel despite 10th gen chips. was going for 3600X but now hearing rumours about a 3600XT that will be released soon. Should I just jump in and get a 3700X which will probably be overkill, go for a 3600X or just wait but not sure till when probably July? Or should I forget everything and go intel 10th Gen? Thanks fam!
  3. Thank you all so far. Leaning towards an Intel build for now. Might throw in a GPU, 1050Ti or above I think. How good are Iris Plus 655 graphics if I do NO gaming at all?
  4. Hi fam, my previous HTPC was lost by the moving company in the move (so much mover scams in the US) so now I need a replacement for my HTPC. Expert PC builder, but with ATX and not Micro ATX. I will be watching 4K streams, Netflix, Prime Video and my huge collection of MKVs. No plans for any AAA gaming. The resolution I will be driving is a 4K Samsung TV. Other media streaming devices I have include a PS4 Pro but it doesn't play well with MKV files mainly due to the limited audio format support and al less than stellar video player. Looking to spend no more than 1100. The less the better. Need recommendations for CPU, Board (MSI fan but not locked to brand) and a nice ITX Case. Silence is golden so going for quiet too. Thanks!!!

I will be watching 4K streams, Netflix, Prime Video and my huge collection of MKVs. No plans for any AAA gaming, I have a desktop I build for that (I'm sure would have gone missing if I did not transport it myself). The resolution I will be driving is a 4K Samsung TV. Other media streaming devices I have include a PS4 Pro but it doesn't play well with MKV files mainly due to the limited audio format support and al less than stellar video player. Looking to spend no more than 1100. The less the better. I'm debating between an Intel NUC 8 i7HNK: Small form factor let's me mount it behind the TV and it's powerful enough for everything except AAA gaming at 4K which I don't need. OR Micro ATX Build which I will build myself. Questions: Which route should I go NUC or Micro ATX? Can I get away with a normal cheaper NUC with IRIS Plus 655 integrated graphics WITHOUT the Radeon Vega graphics for my usage (4K streaming, MKV streaming, no gaming)? If recommend Micro ATX, any board and CPU recommendations? (I am an MSI fan but not brand locked) Thanks a million!!!
  6. Thanks I already reviewed that thread but wanted more opinions. I will likely be going for closed back more because I want that Extra bass. I'm leaning towards Sennheiser's but I just need to find out which one gives the best sound (I'm happy with fun EQ V shaped curves) but also Bass. I once bought V-Moda 100s a few years back because everyone said they had crazy bass but was REALLY DISAPPOINTED, they did not sound bassy at all, and I even returned them for a new pair but it was the same sound with a lack of bass. In terms of bass, what am I looking for in Senns: 558 < Game One < 598 < HD7DJ < HD8DJ ?
  7. :ooking to get a pair of over the ear headphones, so I don't disturb my wife late at night playing some games or watching some netflix before I sleep. Any recommendations? So many options not even sure where to start. I had the Sennheiser 558s which were great but the bass was too light Beyerdynamic dt770s had fantastic sound but the band was too uncomfortable for long periods. Razer? (lol) Plantronics 800? Sennheiser GAME ZERO? **Mic not important at all. Thanks guys!
  8. Brand new PC i7700K Windows 10. Having a persistent issue I can't fix when I boot up that has never happened on my older PC or Surface Book that are both running Windows 10. I have 3 monitors. Basically only on my main monitor, when ever I open the start menu or any window, my computer, folder etc. the desktop background has this brightening and dimmimg animation that is also there when you minimize these windows. This has never happened with my old PC which was using this same 3 monitors on Windows 10. I have compared all the settings and they are all the same. I have also unchecked animation when minimizing and maximizing windows setting but it makes no difference. This setting has nothing to do with the dimming and brightening of the desktop background when opening or minimizing windows. I have searched google and still can't find an answer. Any ideas guys? This is really bugging the hell out of me. I jsut want this animation to go away and be like it was in my old PC. Thanks.
  9. I'm torn between the MSI Z270 GAMING M5 and the Gigabyte AORUS Z270X-GAMING 5 at the moment. Any ideas? https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/Z270-GAMING-M5.html#productFeature-section http://www.gigabyte.us/Motherboard/GA-Z270X-Gaming-5-rev-10#kf Really can't swallow that Gigabyte color. What;s the story with Mobos from these 2 guys? People always say MSI sucks, but I don't know how true that is. I've been buying MSI graphics cards for years and have never had issues,.
  10. Thanks for the recommendations. I won't be buying Ryzen, I'm just not interested in AMD. Any idea on M.2 Drives? Should I get one or stick with my 840 Pro SSD for my OS?
  11. Hey Guys! Finally going to plop down on a brand new rig this weekend with President's day around the corner and good deals on the i7 7700K. Need some help with choosing a Z270 board however, it's been awhile since my last rodeo (my last and current PC is a i7 860 LGA 1156 from 2009. I usually go for MSI vs Gigabyte, but am open to other brands like ASUS if there's a good recommendation. I usually pick the middle of the road board trims that have some extra nice features but nothing like the super excessive gaming features that some boards come with. I don't need on board Creative Sound blaster sound or Killer Network ports. Need help because there seem to be 234875239786 models for each Z270 board for each brand and I don't know where to start. RAM recommendations are welcome as well! Thanks a million!
  12. Hey guys, just got my Acer XB271HU. COming from a 1080p non G-Sync 60Hz monitor it is amazing. So far seems like some BLB which might all be just IPS Glow anyway with no dead pixel or dust behind the monitor. The only issue I have is with the panel's WHITE (not colour) uniformity. It seems slightly cooler on the right with this bluish tint compared to the rest of the screen. Reading around, it seems like this is a probelm with most of the G-Sync IPS Panels from ASUS and Acer (and maybe with some time and Brun in this might fade). Now these pictures are at brightness of 90 and the screen is as yet uncalibrated, but I'm not sure how much of this will change with regards to white Uniformity. I am hesitant to get another replacement with this as it seems like a panel lottery and the next one might just have all the black light bleed/dead pixel/dust issues. What do you think? Leave it or replace? Here is what I am talking about:
  13. Anyone who has a gsync monitor is this vertical line issue down the monitor a real thing when the refresh rate of the screen changes and when you alt-tab out of games? http://community.acer.com/t5/Predator-Monitors/Line-down-the-middle-overlapping-image/td-p/418751I keep wanting to pull the plus on a gsync monitor but everything I do some new problem seems to crop up and I'm really hesitant to be throwing down such a huge investment on sub par quality products!Appreciate all thoughts and responses. Thanks!
