  1. I actually started looking into QLED. I saw a Samsung Q60 on display in a store and I really liked it. Looking at reviews as we speak and checking out some other models as well.
  2. I already got rid of the CRT. There were lots of downsides to it. It predated HDMI so it was only able to display about 15-20 channels out of the 100+ I get from my package. My monitor display is actually LCD so this is a good reference point for me. The viewing angles are not good on it but I'm used to the image quality and I'd say it's pretty good but I don't really have anything to compare it to. I'm checking out electronics stores and kind of comparing the screens there to see what I like but the whole burn in concern has been keeping me from buying a TV. I'll keep my focus more on LCD TV's then. IPS panels seem to be quite popular but I'll keep my mind on the downsides you mentioned like the low contrast and IPS glow. Thanks.
  3. I want this topic to be mainly about which panels to look for when choosing a TV. I'm taking a huge technology leap right now replacing my 20-some year old CRT TV with a 4K HDR TV and I'm having trouble finding any info online about screen burn in resistance. There are like millions of pages dedicated to avoiding burn in, but as much as possible, I don't want to change my habits. I want the TV to be able to handle my habits. I want a TV that will last me 10years without any major burn in. I plan to watch movies & shows on it but also have very long gaming sessions. If you wanna drop some suggestions in the replies, you can but note that the max size I can fit is 50inches and it's mainly this size screen that I'm looking at. I'm not too worried about price but assume I want to stay under the $500 price range. Some of the TVs I currently have my eyes on: Philips 50PUS6203/12 ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-Ultra-Smart-50PUS6203-12-Black/dp/B07HM8GR4G ) Samsung UE50RU7172U ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-UE50RU7172UXXH-UE50RU7172-TV/dp/B07SD5GCSW )
  4. Was looking up their Chromax coolers. Good news! "In the chromax line, Noctua showed all-black versions of the NH-D15, NH-U12S and NH-L9i, which are scheduled for release in late 2018 or Q1 2019, as well as black versions of the NF-A20, NF-A12x15, NF-A9, NF-A9x14 and NF-A8 fans." Source: https://noctua.at/en/noctua-at-computex-2018 I guess I'm waiting! Totally buying a black NH-D15. I watched some Computex footage and they look so badass. I can't wait to stick it on my 1700 and try to OC again. It's kind of ridiculous that I'm hitting 75°C at 1.1v on the VCore. I'll buy a couple of extra fans as well. I really want the Riing 14mm fans. They look so good.
  5. Yeah, on the stock Wraith cooler. It might be that the case airflow is bad. I do only have the stock 1x intake and 1x exhaust fans. The case I've got (Define S) is also huge so probably hot air just gets stuck in there. I'm gonna buy new fans anyway but I've also been thinking of getting a smaller case so it will recycle air faster. I wanna upgrade the CPU cooler to NH-D15 or Dark Rock pro 4. I'm not too fond of noctuas poop colored fans though.
  6. I lowered my clock speed and voltages way down and I'm still hitting 80°C in prime95. That's running the Small FFT test. I've got MX-4 paste on the cooler if it matters. I guess I need to buy a CPU cooler before I can push it.
  7. I did a 10min test just now with HWinfo open. Voltages stay the same (1.33v). I'm reaching very high temps on the CPU tho (80°C+). I'm not reaching those in real life scenarios tho. I'm gonna lower my dynamic range a bit and clocks.
  8. CPU-Z shows 1.0v and peaks at 1.344v or so. Here's HWinfo: https://i.imgur.com/ocHFy2K.jpg I don't really see voltage in HWinfo. There's CPU Current but it doesn't update.
  9. I'm having that "seems too good to be true" feeling. I have an entire thread on reddit dedicated to my first OC which only I am replying to. It's pretty lonely in there, so now I'm here. I'll just get straight to it. CPU: Ryzen 1700 (OC 3.85ghz at 1.35v) RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200mhz CL16 (OC 2933mhz at 1.25v) MOBO: Gigabyte AX370 Aorus Gaming K7 BIOS: F20 I documented some stuff and took BIOS screenshots. https://imgur.com/a/wIP0GaZ Everything is on default except what's shown. I just need someone to tell me if I forgot anything that'll turn my computer into a fireplace overnight. Also check my voltages please. I set dynamic SOC to the lowest possible and I'm assuming that puts it on 0.95v to 1.1v range. Playing it super safe with voltages. Note that this is a 24/7 build.
  10. Yes. I drew them in as a reference photo since the real ones don't show on camera. The CPU looks really clean on camera for some reason.
  11. So I cleaned off the thermal paste that comes with the CPU cooler with Isopropyl alcohol and before I put new paste on it, I noticed circles on three corners of my CPU. They're perfectly round. Almost like screw holes. I tried taking a picture but it wont show on camera. What are those? Picture for reference:
  12. I wanna go with Ryzen but even if I went with the R5 1600, I would still end up spending over 500€ (rough 1:1 conversion to USD) for the full upgrade(cpu+mobo+16gb ram which is the bare minimum). Someone also mentioned going with Intel Skylake which would also be around 500€ for the i7 6700k+mobo. I've checked for used hardware as well and everyone is trying to match retail prices, even with the FX chips. Some cost even more than retail which is ridiculous. People here are mostly living on minimum wages so that's why they try to get as much as they can for their used hardware. I've always saved (hence the athlon) and always something would come up and I'd have to dig into my savings. I really don't wanna buy an FX but it's within my budget right now and the Athlon 640 just isn't capable anymore. The stuttering is bad even at what some people would consider low poly count. Until Ryzen 1600 represents better cost per performance ratio than FX8300, I don't see why I should save for it other than having newer gen hardware. The fact FX uses DDR3 is even better for me as I'll save 150€ by not upgrading to DDR4.
  13. I'm currently on an Athlon X4 640 machine and badly need an upgrade as I want to do more intense 3D modeling and rendering. Because I'm on a tight budget (250€), I can't really afford a Ryzen machine so I decided to use my current DDR3 ram and stay with old gen and just upgrade my CPU & mobo and stick a Hyper 212 evo on it. The FX8300 looks like the right choice as it's only about 100€ (I'm in Europe). Now if I were to get it, I would want to OC it to about 4Ghz but I've read that a 970 board wont be good enough especially for long render times due to the mobo overheating. Apparently MSi boards are pretty bad for OCing too, so my eyes right now are on the Gigabyte 970A DS3P. Can I OC an FX8300 to 4Ghz on this mobo or do you think I need a better mobo? I'd like to stay around the 100€ price point for mobo because it would be a waste of money to spend more for an FX chip. This basically means my options are either Gigabyte 970 or AsRock 970 boards. Asus is expensive here. Intel is of course not an option due to low performance at such a low budget so I need to stick with AMD in this case. Gigabyte 970A DS3P https://www.caseking.de/en/gigabyte-970a-ds3p-amd-970-mainboard-sockel-am3-mbgb-125.html FX 8300 https://www.caseking.de/en/amd-fx-8300-8-core-3-3-ghz-piledriver-sockel-am3-boxed-hpam-115.html Hyper 212 Evo https://www.caseking.de/en/cooler-master-hyper-212x-cpu-kuehler-120mm-pwm-cpco-060.html Total cost: 227€+15€~ delivery. What do you think?
  14. I have an Athlon II X4 640. I used to have it paired with an AMD HD 6670 512mb card which would run at 85°C at full load. The whole system was in a small ITX case with only a single 80mm exhaust fan. It actually provided enough heat that I didn't need to turn on the heater during winter. Then I switched to an R7 260X and ever since, It's been cold in my room. On the up-side, my framerates are better.
