  1. Can it be dead if I can still read files that are on it? Apparently the xbox managed to put some random files on that i can see?
  2. I plugged a usb into my old xbox 360 to transfer some files for safe keeping. So i formatted the usb on xbox then started copying files. I came back later to an error that said the action couldn't happen or something along those lines then it would not longer let me try to copy files. I plugged it into my pc to see whats happening and it is now apparently write protected. I attempted to do the DiskPart fix but after i use the clear readonly command and it says it as successful I use the attributes command to check and that clear did nothing. After following the rest of the steps and restarting my pc, nothing happened, still blocked. The usb says its "current read-only" state is Yes, but its "read only" state is NO. I also tried doing the RegEdit fix but that didn't work for me either. I'm not sure how to fix this or how this could all happen from plugging it into an xbox... help
  3. o jeeze duh.. AIDA64 test pops it back up. Thanks
  4. so i had my 5820k overclocked to 4.7GHz at 1.3v today I updated to windows 10 and now cpuz says it down to 1.2GHZ with multiplier 12 still has 1.3v tho. i went into the BIOS and everything is the same as before, any ideas?
  5. Skylake is taking to long and I need my pc for school. So should I go Asus X99 Deluxe or X99-A or x99-pro?
  6. Didn't even think about compatibility any more than if it was DDR4, thanks
  7. I bought a dual channel kit of ram for my Z170 build but I've heard rumors that 6700ks wont be available in the US until late september or even later? Would this RAM still be fine if I go X99 instead? Would it be worth the hassle to send it back for different ram? I'd rather get the 6700k because its new and I don't need 6 cores for what I do but I don't plan to wait two months. Also, is utilizing the quad channel on x99 vs. only having two sticks going to really make much difference?
  8. Im looking into upgrading my school laptop to windows 10. I would also like to upgrade it's ram somewhat soon (within a few months) but I read something about needing to keep the same hardware or windows will deactivate or something? I assumed ram wouldn't matter, anyone know more about this?
  9. Does anyone know when skylake processors will be for sale? Everywhere I've looked seems to have them "out of stock"? I've been debating if I should just go with x99 instead because pc died two weeks ago and the wait is painful. I assume it's probably just a week or two wait for the shops to get them?
  10. I always figured it was better to spread the ram out to all the slots? The board says ATX so i figured it would fit
  11. So my I fried my motherboard a two weeks ago so I'm about to buy new parts and just upgrade my whole rig. I'm wondering if the speed of the RAM I choose will affect it? I heard some cpus don't support certain RAM speeds? Will the 6700k support 3000mhz speed? I assume it wouldn't be a problem. My planned upgrade parts: CASE: Corsair 450D CPU: i7-6700k CPU cooler: H110I GTX MOBO: Asus Z170 - Deluxe RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 16GB (4x4) 3000mhz GPU: old GTX 770
  12. I got up this morning and tried to wake my computer, it wont wake up properly so I shut it off and turn it on (this has been happening for a few weeks) normally it turns on and resumes after it powers down. Today it refused to post and won't start. I get a 00 error code, all fans are running except cpu fan 2 (which is my back fan). cpu fan, graphic card fans, disk drive all running. So far, I've reset it many times, cleared the CMOS, I've repuggled all the power cables on the motherboard to see if they were lose, I tried running a different cable from the power supply to the cpu header, and I tried just running the motherboard and cpu power on different power supply. I have the same error and problem with everything. I assume the cpu isnt getting power and the cpu fan2 isn't either. Everything else seems to have power though. It is possible the motherboard could of broke somehow in the night on its own? UPDATE: Tried moving around the ram in all configurations, no results. While trying to hurry through all the combinations of ram stick i could thing of and each one in every place I failed to notice the ram slots are flipped on each side of the motherboard to I may have damaged something trying to push a ram stick in backwards. Turned it on and it smelled bad (probably fried something) error message no long posts 00, now it does nothing. If i killed my motherboard being stupid with ram would the fan still run? power seems to still go through it to the fans and graphic card but the error light is off. Also tried unplugging the fan the wont turn on, no results. But at this point I may have killed the board myself anyway. perhaps just the ram and/or ram slot is fried, motherboard seems to work somewhat, cmos still resets it, fans still run, error light still off though.. My boot drive is samsung 850 pro ssd less than a year old so I don't think that would be it OS: Windows 7 Home Premium Graphics: GTX 770 Gigabyte 4GB VRAM CPU: Intel i7-3820 Motherboard: ASRock X79 Extreme 4 Power Supply: Corsair RM850 (Power supply #2: Xtreme Gear XG-P800) Ram: 16GB(8x2) G-skill value series (F3-10600CL9s-8GBNT)
  13. I'm just wondering, do i really need the static IP? i cant give my friends a new IP thats not hard, or is the real problem port forwarding?
  14. Id rather avoid it, forwarding should work just as well, problem is i cant port forward.
