  1. I'll run every scan and get back to you with the results.
  2. Hello, I recently got a new GPU and updated windows. I don't know if those two changes have anything to do with my problem, but i started encountering intermittent drive errors and freezes. Examples: 1. When playing Elden RIng, the game starts stuttering and the music disappears. This is always followed by HDD usage shooting up to 100% and a stop-start noise (ill provide the audio later in the post) occurring. Also, i noticed that every time that this occurs, it is followed by an error appearing in the event viewer. Specifically the following error: 2. When playing Horizon: Zero Dawn, the game freezes for about two seconds, and is followed by the noise, and 100% disk usage. 3. While scanning the drive for bad sectors, the noise occurs every 3 or so seconds (i will attach a recording of this), but is not followed by the error in event viewer. 4. Epic Games Launcher (installed on it for some reason) was flagged as corrupted, throwing an "the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" error. 5. Other files also seem to be corrupted, one unistaller is throwing a "unins000.dat is corrupted" error. Notes: I have tried almost every possible combination of SATA and power cables. None have helped. The errors started after updating windows and installing a new GPU. The drive model is: SEAGATE ST1000DM003 Other drives in PC: NVME ssd (System), WDC HDD (Media) Tried CHKDSK with only 3 stages. I will run the full scan overnight. CRYSTAL DISK INFO: THE NOISE: 149016.mp3 THE QUESTION: Is the drive dead? Did windows update screw up some files? What are my options?
  3. That's what I'm doing right now. The temps dropped by 8°C and the GPU no longer reaches dangerous temps. I just want to avoid dust getting into the PC as it's sitting close to the floor (on a little stool).
  4. I will, but i just don't want to roast my components while I'm saving up.
  5. Hello, As it says in the title, i am in a bit of a tricky spot. I just got a new GPU and it gets hot while benchmarking (around 86 degrees) while the case is closed. The problem is that my case is bad. I just can't even begin to describe how horrible this case is. It has no holes for air flow at the front (or top), unless i remove the front drive bay protectors (I'll talk about this later in the post). It also has only two slots for 80mm fans and one slot for a 120mm fan that is unusable since it clashes with the GPU 8pin. So i am here with a question. I have one 80mm fan at my disposal and one free fan header on the motherboard. Where should i put this fan? I have two* options at my disposal (illustrated below). Option 1: This option has one 80mm fan blowing air out through the back. Option 2: This option has one 80mm fan sucking air in through the side panel *Option 3: As i said earlier, i can remove a couple of drive bay protectors to open up a 15x15cm hole in the front of the case. This can be combined with any of the options above. NOTES (IMPORTANT): Yes, i know, the cable management is horrible as the case has no dedicated cable management space. I will try to remedy this ASAP. I will buy a new case soon. I will buy a fan splitter and a second fan even before i buy the new case. I'm just asking for a solution to a temporary problem. THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IN THE ROOM IS 22-28 ° C (72-82 ° F)
  6. 2x4gb of Patriot Signature PSD34G16002 I haven't reseated the CPU. The last time that it was used was about a year ago, and the fan was kept on.
  7. I forgot to mention that i did this also. I'll add it to my original post.
  8. Yep, the system powers on, fans spinning and everything. I'm using the MSI H61M-P20 (G3)
  9. Hi, I just decided to finally upgrade my mom's old pc. I basically swapped the mobo+cpu+ram to my old configuration. Everything went fine during the installation part, but when it was time to boot up the pc, i just ran into a black screen. The monitor doesn't output anything. It has a signal, as it doesn't show the "no signal warning", and the test feature on the monitor just outputs a "test good" message. The monitor doesn't even show the motherboard splash screen. I just don't know where the problem is. Stuff that i tried: - Reseating ram (every combination possible with two sticks) - re-plugging(?) all of the motherboard cables (no change) - Unplugging the HDD (no change) - Taking out all of the ram (boot loop with no output, as expected) - Unplugging everything except the VGA cable (no change) - Unplugging all of the front I/O except the power button (no change) - Reset CMOS Stuff that i can't try: - A DVI cable (monitor only has VGA) - A different motherboard (I don't have an extra motherboard) - A GPU (i don't have an extra gpu) - Different ram The new setup: - i3-3250 - 4 gigs of ddr3 ram - MSI H61M-P20 (G3) - Windows XP (i tried the setup with XP because that was on the hard drive. I will upgrade it to an ssd and Windows 10) tldr: Monitor doesn't output anything (not even the "no signal" message) when plugged into iGPU. Can anyone at least help me diagnose the problem, i have been thinking about this nonstop. Thank you in advance. edit: I forgot to mention that i don't have access to any POST codes as the new motherboard doesn't have a speaker or LED. MASSIVE CORRECTION: The monitor isn't outputting black. It just isn't waking up from it's "stand by" state. The power LED keeps flashing like when the computer is off.
  10. Might be that graphics card that you bought from the shady bodybuilder. (I know him IRL, it's a joke)
  11. Hello, I just have a simple question today as i have already posted other things about this problem. I'm having problems with my audio interface. I have switched to Windows 10 a week ago (along with upgrading my motherboard), and the switch kinda broke my audio interface. When the driver works, it works perfectly, but when i stop playing any audio (Like youtube or a game), at some point, the driver kinda just "stops". When i try to play something again, i just hear i slight click, but no audio. Youtube plays the video, but the loading indicator spins endlessly with no audio (it doesn't output a loading renderer error). I have reinstalled the drivers multiple times, tried different cables, different ports, different bios settings, different power settings and some other stuff. I am just looking for an answer to this specific problem. 12. Hello, I have a bit of a problem with one of my devices. About a week ago, i updated my PC to a Ryzen CPU and Gigabyte mobo, from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and everything is working perfectly except for one device. The device in question is my PreSonus AudioBox USB 96. It's having problems with the USB 3.0 port (it cuts out if the PC is left for a minute or so with no audio playing), but these problems are justified. It's officially barely compatible with 3.0. When i plug it into the 2.0 port, the audio dropping problems are fixed, but a new problem is introduced. The device just starts disconnecting and reconnecting incredibly rapidly (more than once per second). I will attach a screenshot of the number of security audits it puts out in the event log, just to demonstrate the frequency of the disconnects. I have tried everything; power management, a new cable, multiple driver reinstalls, disconnecting the broken front panel USB's from the Motherboard, compatibility mode and every single bit rate and sample rate option that there is. My question is: Is the problem in the Motherboard? All other devices work in the 2.0 ports, but this device is struggling. Is it not receiving enough power? Is it my BIOS settings? Any advice is appreciated, i am loosing my mind trying to fix this thing. OTHER THREAD ON THIS FORUM: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1134916-audio-card-help/
  13. Thanks for the info, but it doesn't really help me.
