  1. Ya, ended up doing exactly that. thank you very much @Bender2k the firmware works a treat and I FINALLY have my Spotify back. now, how long til it blows up an amp or some shit…
  2. Any idea how to initiate the update without the remote for the AVR? Managed to get to the usb update screen but I can’t press enter since my remote has gone walkies.
  3. Hmm, could do although that was TEN years ago so I highly doubt he’ll respond, let alone remember the solution.
  4. I'm hoping that if I just keep badgering support they may provide me with it, but I highly doubt its gonna work. Did catch them lying aswell, claimed that spotify dropped support for connect for these AVRs in 2023 when Denon made them legacy but Spotify connect has been working up until the moment I ripped the board out of it and switched it...
  5. Thanks for your input @aggie113 i came across that thread too, I believe up until around 4-5 years ago Denon used to host their firmware files on their site available to download and install either via USB or the web GUI but according to another thread I found elsewhere (maybe Reddit?) that has apparently beeb shut down. Plus my box is now considered “legacy” so seeing how they’re operating, they’d probably have removed the firmware files from their site.
  6. Anyone got any sources on how to obtain firmware for AVR's that Denon now deem a legacy product? Have an AVR-X2000 I picked up cheap a year and a half ago that had no HDMI output and just the other day I bought a second one that had a dead amplifier circuitry and I switched the board with the HDMI switching from this new one into my existing one which worked no bother. Unfortunately, that board also has the main processor and firmware chip on it too and its not been updated to support Spotify connect like I had done with my one. And it now refuses to update since Denon have now marked this unit as legacy since June last year according to the entirely useless Denon customer support person who also seems unable to send me the firmware directly. So now I'm torn, cause I use the Spotify connect feature more than I ever actually use the video output of the thing, but it then makes my entire purchase of the second reciever a massive waste of time and money. I also probably could locate the ROM chip on my old board and switch it to the new one, but I don't have the equiptment or skills to be able to pull off such a procedure without entirely destroying everything... It's just frustrating casue these have the ability to be updated "locally" via the web gui as far as I'm aware, and failing that, there is a USB port on the front wired up for data and I'm led to believe It can be used for updating, but Denon just seem to refuse access to the firmware. Anyway, I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone has any suggestions.
  7. yeah, turns out cablemod do a cable for it but you have to custom order the cable and it would cost me a ton with shipping and everything to the UK so imma just use the adapter.
  8. Thanks for the response but my concern is that the 3070 FE card has the port mounted flat on the board (see pic attached) similarly to the 40 series shown above and I dont think there is clearance for the 4 sense pins
  9. Do the 16 pin 12VHPWR cables work with the 30 series cards, Working on my new system and I have an RTX 3070 FE and a Seasonic PSU with no cables and im looking at some cablemod cables but i was wondering if the 16 pin connector fits in the older cards which dont have the 4 sense pins. I have the dual. 8 pin adapter that came with my card so I can use that and just get regular 8 pin cables but the adapter is so friggen ugly. Any advice is welcomed.
  10. Thunderbolt does appear to be working as the booststation shows as authorised in the thunderbolt menu in setting and the 3070 shows when i run lspci so I assume a thunderbolt connection is working. Edit: also just checked bolt and it also shows a 40Gb/s send and recieve Thunderbolt connection.
  11. Hello all, Having some difficulty getting my external 3070 to work in ubuntu with my XPS 15. Booting to ubuntu with the egpu connected puts me to a black screen with no output to any of my displays. If i connect the EGPU after the fact the whole thing fires up and ubuntu recognises the 3070 and selects the correct driver for it but it doesnt engage. I expect that hotplugging wont be an option and a reboot will be required to make it work but it appears to be a no go, i suspect its something to do with the dedicated 3050ti in the laptop messing things up but im not certain. Worth noting that all other aspecs of the egpu box work, usb, ethernet etc. Any input is welcome. Thanks Specs: Dell XPS 15 9510 Intel i7 11800H 16GB Ram RTX 3050ti (internal) RTX 3070 in Lenovo Booststation enclosure
  12. I'm having this issue with Twinkle Tray where my monitor becomes unresponsive once the screen has timed out. The monitor is a Dell S2721DGF connected to my Dell XPS 15 9510 via an RTX 3070 in a thunderbolt eGPU enclosure. I have a secondary display connected, an Acer S241HL which manages to behave normally when twinkle tray is active. Basically when i return to the computer i wake shake the mouse to turn the displays back on and I can see that both monitors turn back on and the panel on the acer monitor lights up but the Dell monitor does not, the power light shows as though it's on and the lighting on the back of the monitor also lights up but the panel is totally black. I have read that some dell monitors have some power saving sleep features that can cause similar issues to arise but this monitor appears to not have them (since its a gaming monitor I imagine its more performance oriented than the office monitors that are more likely to be deployed in professional settings and therefor lacks these options) I also have gone through the twinkle tray app and prevented it from modifying any settings on the monitor other than the ability to alter the display brightness but no luck. I also tried disabling the automatic input switching feature on the monitor as some people had issues with this montitor and other dell gaming monitors becoming unresponsive with that but again it hasnt helped. I have tried a different display control method via the "Monitorian" app and while its able to control the brightness of the dell monitor and not cause it to freak out, it for some reason is unable to see my secondary acer monitor, and generally the look of the twinkle tray app is alot more polished. I also tried the Dell monitor control app but its bloaty and generally annoying. Any input is welcomed
  13. I have a mid 2015 5K iMac with a dead logic board but a fully working display and was wondering if it’s possible to swap out the board for a late 2015 one. From what I’ve read, it’s not possible as the display panels are ever so slightly different between the 2 models (and knowing how apple operates with this kinda thing I can believe it) but I have access to a cheap late 2015 board and can’t find any evidence of anyone trying this, just people saying that the 2 are incompatible. Also, does anyone know what the differences between the panels actually are, as far as I can tell from images they look pretty much identical.
  14. this seems like it would disable biometrics outright which isn't quite what I'm after
  15. I'm not looking to outright disable biometrics, more just wanting it to always default to the password screen. maybe an external windows hello webcam is the answer but honestly its more effort than just clicking a button each time i wanna log in at my desk. Why microsoft felt the need to separate the login methods seems crazy to me, i recon it must be a holdover from a previous version of windows cause it seems awfully backwards for me.
