My desktop hasn't been on for longer than 2 days probably, but I don't think my server has been off in around 2 months. I have a UPS so power outages are a thing of the past.
I'm looking for a cheap KVM solution to control 2 PCs with 1 peripheral setup.
PC1 has HDMI, DVI, and VGA out
PC2 has DVI and VGA out
Monitor has HDMI, DVI, VGA in
Keyboard and mouse use a single USB each.
I'd really prefer to have the monitor connected to PC1 via HDMI or DVI. I don't care how it's connected to PC2. So does anyone have any suggestions?
8gb of RAM is way overkill, and a 1TB drive? Sure the maps get big, but they don't get nearly that big, at least for our 6 players. Besides, like I said in the original post, we're limiting the map size to 3000x3000.
There's not many mATX PSUs, though. And the max power usage of this thing is 134w. So even if it was at max usage 24 hours a day, which it would definitely not be, it would consume about 35 cents of electricity.
Thanks for the input, but I'd rather keep the SSD and form factor for world loading speed and the ability to stash it somewhere out of sight. The only thing you really improved was the ram, and I can fit 8 gigs in with my build if I up the budget $30.
What makes you think a 6 person server needs 8 gigs? Any of ya'll have experience in running an FTB server? Just want to know before I throw more money down.
Pretty sure the standard server application uses more than 1 core, though. I'm only planning on having close friends on it, so management isn't an issue since I trust everyone. Would I be better off with just the standard FTB server then? Since an i3 is significantly more expensive.
