I have the Logitech G430 headset. Is it ok to unplug them while my pc is running but no sound is being pushed to them? or should I completely turn off my computer first?

Hi I have a Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H I have a GPU which takes up three slots, so my only other expansion slot is the bottom PCIE 16x slot which in the manual says runs at 4x, my question is If I install a pcie 1x sound card into this bottom pcie 16x slot will it take any bandwidth from my PCIE from GPU? and will it run at 1x or 4x ? The sound card is ASUS Xonar DGX PCIE Sound Card: http://www.asus.com/Sound_Cards_and_DigitaltoAnalog_Converters/Xonar_DGX/specifications/
