  1. Update: Underclocking the card hasn't made the problem go away, but it seems a bit better than before.
  2. Haha, unfortunately a swap is out of the question. If I get rid of the card I'll either return it or sell it to one of my friends who haven't been lucky enough to get a card yet. And I understand your hesitation towards people being able to feel electronics, I still don't believe it entirely myself. But it certainly seems like it might be a possibility, after my recent experiences. I think a power supply swap might be up next, from what I've heard from others experiencing headaches from coil whine, that's helped on occasion. Anyways, thanks for your help so far
  3. The phone I have now doesn't have 5g, and I haven't had any issues with it since I received it around a year ago. One thing that is rather interesting is when I had the same problem with my PG279QE monitor, is that the issue was present even when I wasn't looking at the monitor, just when it was turned on and nearby. I've had the thought that this might be psychological, but I did a blind test where another person plugged the monitor in at a random time during the day, with an extension cord to the next room. Even with the monitor facing away from me, I was able to tell within two minutes that it was turned on (brightness was turned way down, there were no distinguishable visual cues). Which is leading me towards the conclusion that I might just be sensitive to hardware that pulls a lot of power, or certain frequencies (or I might be completely out of my mind, I have no idea).
  4. Yeah, refresh rate is the same, and it's not motion sickness. This even happens outside of games and 3d applications.
  5. Don't think I'm just tired, no. What happens to me only happens when using the pc, and I notice it pretty quickly (30min-1hr). After doing some reading I've noticed that it might qualify as a migraine. Super strange.
  6. On the monitors? The refresh rate is the same as before. Can coil whine really cause headaches? Even when using headphones?
  7. Hey, Since I received my Strix 3080 OC almost two weeks ago I've had some strange issues with the card. The performance is off the charts, and I haven't had any crashes so far. The problem I'm having however is that after using the card for a couple hours, I start getting a headache, general discomfort in the head and face, and trouble focusing my eyes on the screen. I also feel a little dizzy and "stoned" when using the card. This gets worse over time, and if I play a whole evening, I can still feel the headache the day after. I've had similar issues earlier with a monitor, an Asus Swift PG279QE, which I had to return because of this issue. Right now I'm using two monitors that I haven't had any issues with before. I also don't use my computer any more or less than I did before. The components I changed to in the upgrade are as follows: - Asus RTX 3080 ROG Strix OC - Corsair RM850x - Asus ROG Strix z490-F - Intel i7-10700k at stock speed This seems very strange to me, since this seems like something that wouldn't be caused by internal components in the computer. I also get this in general use of the computer, not just in games. It seems like I might just be sensitive to certain high-power electronics. Something that might be noteworthy is that I also use wireless headphones, Corsair H2100, maybe there's some weird interaction there. I don't get the issue when I switch back to my ROG Strix 1080. I'm afraid I'll have to get rid of the card if I can't figure out what's causing this. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?
  8. Thanks! I didn't realize just how much of my system was Corsair parts, but I guess if I had to choose one company to put my trust in, it would have to be Corsair.
  9. Today I received my Asus Strix 3080 OC, and finally got to put my new machine together. I'm in the process of downloading all my games for testing, but I'm very satisfied with the results I've gotten in the games I've tried so far. Specs: - Corsair Crystal 570x - Asus ROG Strix Z490-F - Intel i7-10700k - Corsair H150i Pro RGB, Front mounted 360mm radiator - Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 2666MHz 16GB - Asus GeForce RTX 3080 ROG Strix OC - Corsair Force Series MP510 480GB m.2 - 2x Samsung 860 EVO 500GB, running in RAID0 - Corsair RM850x PSU - 6x Corsair SP120 RGB Pro - Corsair Commander Pro I'll be trying to get a good overclock on the 10700k in the coming days. A potential change before the end of the year would be getting some Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 3600MHz ram, although I'm unsure of the performance gains from increased ram speed. To others waiting to receive their 3080 Strix OC cards, I can't speak for other regions, but it seems to me like they're reaching most corners of Europe by the end of the week. Although in relatively small numbers, I'd imagine. I'm over the moon right now. UserBenchmark: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/34070714
  10. Of course this is anecdotal, but I watched a dude with a ventus card test it in games for about six hours, mainly in 1440p and 4k. The card kicked ass, and never went above 75c. I'd wait for a formal review with accurate benchmarks, but it certainly doesn't look like it's under-performing to me.
  11. Does anyone know what's going on with the Strix cards? I've been searching, but haven't been able to find a single person who's gotten theirs yet. Mine is on order, but it looks like they haven't even reached stores.
  12. i7-10700k overclocked to 5.1ghz and RTX 3080, is an 850-watt PSU enough? Got a Corsair RM850x in preparation for the upgrade, but after deciding on overclocking, I'm wondering if I need more juice. What do you think? Other components in the system: - 1x m.2 ssd - 1x standard 2.5" ssd - 6x 120mm RGB fans - 1x Corsair Hydro 150i Pro RGB Might add a standard HDD, but I have no intentions on adding an optical drive.
  13. Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll definitely take a look after I see how my 8700 keeps up with the new card. The most recent unlocked i5's look promising in my case, since I don't need a load of cores, as mentioned.
  14. Like many others, I've recently decided to upgrade when the Nvidia 3000-series releases. I will be deciding between the 3070 and the 3080, leaning towards the latter. And, of course, the big question here is the CPU bottleneck. I'm currently running an i7 8700 (non-k), which has served me well so far. The problem I'm having is that most of the games I play, such as World of Warcraft, don't have good utilization of several cores, so I'm mainly looking for per-core performance, without going above 6-8 cores (since options such as the i9 10900k, while they have attractive clock speeds, are hella expensive). I could stick with the i7 8700, but not having the option to overclock is a bit of a drag. What's the play here? Keep the 8700, or other suggestions?
