  1. hi again.... pics sorted :-) thanks for the info: yeh i certainly won't be forgetting the airflow over the PC components. right, first part done, after some initial testing the gpu temps weren't going over 40deg.. and its still mid 20's here in the UK. So i have amalgamated the 2 loops, with no real detrimental effect to the GPU loop (other than minor issues with deciding which parameter to have the single PWM output of my aquaero 5 to react to) This isn't the finished article the loop is currently all soft tubing, i am looking at eventually making it a mix of soft and mayhems glass tubing. In the next few weeks i'll create the CPU loop. however looking at the temps, I will prolly stick with a single 480 push/pull. . you can see the colour of the old tubing... then the big job of creating the desk, this is the bit I'm going to need a pro for.... Something i'm also looking at is lighting. I'm planning on making the res into a desktop light. I've been looking around, but can't get anything definitive, does anyone have experience of using UV LED's outside a case? as i'm thinking of having a mix of UV and white LED strips, probably mounted on the back of the monitor. Is there any reason for not doing this? health and or component deterioration? thanks again, I'll keep positing pics as i progress. Jim
  2. Hi all, I'm about to embark on a completely OTT build. Before i start I though i would like to tap some of the vast experience from within these forums. Basically the build will involve a PC built into a wooden desk, with 2x cooling towers (one for each loop) with exposed reservoirs against the wall to be used as desktop lamps. The cooling towers will be 2x 480mm rads in a primary/secondary heat exchanger type config with 12x 120mm fans in a tri config. Has anyone here had any experience in this config? it doesn't seem to be used very often. The Res will be an LED strip backlit 400mm tube type res, i'm thinking of running a hard line up to the top but that might be a bit exposed. The enclosure will be basically a box large enough to hold the rads + fans partitioned into 3 sections: rad/fan area with intake and exhaust. vertical tower for the air to rise up to the desktop. area above the rads for the pump and fan splitters to sit. The first part of this build will be pure experimentation, I am going to build 1x loop initially, including the cooling tower concept and incorporate it into my existing CPU loop to see how it all works. Then dependent on possible 1080ti release may buy 2x with blocks, or stick with the 980ti's and water cool them. My main priority is a silent clutter free PC, i want all the faff to be hidden and barely be able to hear it. Long term the rest of the desk will be built incorporating a tempered glass panel to show the PC off. I have attached an excel spreadsheet with a rough map and parts i'm planning on using. Any changes or suggestions will be considered (I'm really not sure about the fans). Hope this all makes some sense.... I look forward to any comments. My system is currently: Asus tuf X99 Sabertooth Intel 5930K @ 4.5Ghz (watercooled on 360mm Rad) 2x 980ti (both on air) NAD AMP/DAC - Warfedale diamond 200's Acer predator x34 PS i've also attached some pics of a lot of dust...... under which is my current system :-) GPU loop.xlsx
