  1. We are using the dresser as a desk, which works great, however it cant fit anything else on there as the tv takes up most of it. I think my girlfriend wants the LG downstairs so it would have a place still. Thanks I'll check that one out
  2. Hi, Im gaming on a 3090ti i7 2700kf, we have an LG 55 inch 4k tv as a monitor. The PC is in the bedroom so we can also stream tv shows at night and its great with it being such a big screen. I do play a lot of driving sims, and its awesome for that and very immersive. I also play fifa with a controller and can sit back, thats great too. However, I also love FPS games like doom and other modern titles, but when playing these its obviously not long before my eyes cant take anymore. Its too strenuous and clearly not doing me any good. I am thinking about maybe going to a 27inch 1440p monitor, I do love the idea of freesync/g sync and also having smoother gameplay as 4k can be a bit sub 60 at times... plus with a 55 inch tv you can see all the edges. So my question is, what should I do? I dont want to comprimise my driving sim experience too much but at the same time I want to sit and play my pc properly from time to time. I was thinking maybe a 27 inch 1440p plus speakers and we could still stream tv... but there are also ultrawides too... Budget is probably around 350-400
  3. Just the overall system power draw, I have a 3090ti and an overclocked i7 12700kf, the psu is an msi 850w gold. When I ordered my pc it was with a 3080ti but they upgraded me. So im just worried that the lighting node pro would tip it over the edge, it uses usb on motherboard and also goes into a sata port. If its only 5 watts then should be good but wanted to make sure it wasnt 40 watts or something like that
  4. Hi, Sorry if this is in the wrong subforum, wasnt sure where to post it. I was wondering what the power draw was in Watts of the corsair lighting node pro with the led strips installed? I cant seem to find any info on it even after downloading the manual. I dont have much headroom so thought it would be best to ask Thanks
  5. Thats good, I did actually play truck simulator last night with dsr set to 4k, and then 400% in game scaling, but I didnt change the game resolution from 1080p as I didnt know how dsr worked. I was thinking "wow im going to confuse this gpu and I need to stop playing" It looked really good though and ran very smooth. I guess if I set the in game resolution to 4k after enabling dsr and then set to 100% scaling it would make more sense
  6. Thanks that makes things a lot clearer. I used dsr last night, set it to 4k. I loaded shadow of the tomb raider and saw it now had a 3840x2160 option, I bottled out from using it as I once bricked a gtx580 after setting the wrong resolution on windows. So at 1080p, if I set DSR to 4k in nvidia control panel, then select 3840x2160 as the main resolution in whichever game using the in game display options, it in theory should be perfectly fine and not destroy my gpu? (Paranoid person lol)
  7. Thanks for your help, makes sense to me
  8. Yes but what im wondering is, when I do get a native 4k display, will the fps be around the same as when I was setting the resolution scaling to full in games?
  9. Are you sure? I thought on a 1080p monitor, in a game like msfs if you set the resolution scale to 200 (3840x2160) that was called upscaling? I am fully aware it isnt displaying true 4k
  10. I mean currently im using a 1080p tv and upscaling in games to 4k. I was wondering when I get a native 4k tv will the fps be similar in these games at native 4k vs when I was upscaling to 4k from the 1080p tv
  11. But is 1080p upscaled as taxing as 4k native? I might try DSR see what thats like. Not having any performance issues but interested to know the difference with upscaling to 4k vs native fps wise and want to see what sort of image quality I can get from 1080p
  12. Thats strange I thought 1080p was a cpu bottleneck and 4k was more gpu driven
  13. Im running a 3090ti so definately want to go 4k. Just wanted to know if upscaled vs native yielded the same fps in games
  14. Hi Whats the difference in performance between 4k upscaled vs 4k native? I am upscaling from 1080p atm until I get a 4k monitor, with 1080p being cpu bound is that still the case when upscaled to 4k? Trying to get a guage of what to expect when I go to 4k Thanks
  15. I remember when they released the 6990, what a beast of a card that thing was
  16. If it were me I would put the gpu back together and just enjoy it, unless you have a lot of money to throw about. My advice to people, buy a piece of hardware and enjoy for what it is and avoid these dodgy bandwagons. I overclocked my 780 years ago, got about 4 extra fps in crysis 3, really dont see the point in messing with gpus
  17. Such a cool graphics card, I remember when I was a kid dreaming about having a voodoo card (may have been the first one). I think they were £500 at the time if I remember right, all we had was an 4mb onboard video and couldnt run anything good. Back then it was like a 3d accelerator card wasnt it? Lol I do miss those days
  18. Mine has to be the i7-2600k, that thing was good for years and years, and overclocked really well too
  19. It just says 32gb @3600 but I know that its dual channel not quad channel, I will keep them in order and after testing install slots 2 and 4 first then 1 and 3, in the same order as when it arrived. Thanks for your help by the way if you dont get back to this on, much appreciated
  20. Ok so I should take them all out and try each stick in slot 2? Then is there a specific way I should put them back in before I send it back to the retailer? I do have the motherboard manual so I'll check that out too
  21. Im not sure as computer was prebuilt, I can take a look later for that info, at work right now. So I cant just take one out at a time starting with stick 1, leave the other 3 in, and so on?
  22. Ok was worried about it had to be a certain order etc. So I can just remove stick 1, boot, remove stick 2, boot etc?
  23. Hi I need to check for a faulty ram stick, I have 32 gb dual channel corsair vengance rgb 4x 8gb Motherboard is Msi z690 tomahawk Was wondering how to physically check all the sticks to see if one is faulty Thanks if you can help
  24. Hi guys got my new prebuilt today but it wont post, gpu fans come on Z690 tomahawk Rtx 3080ti Have put hdmi 2.1 cable into hdmi port Reinstalled gpu still no difference Removed gpu and plugged into motherboard hdmi port, 1 long beep and 2 short beeps I have a 12700kf so I dont think it should post without gpu? Can anyone help? Someone mentioned cmos battery removal for 20 minutes works but its been overclocked by supplier and dont want to reset bios
