  1. Update pulled the Mobo out and threw an air cooler on with nothing else besides ram in it. Booted right up to the bios. Now I am thoroughly confused. It's not the motherboard.
  2. I did. I removed all the plugs and tried just with the psu, ram, and motherboard plugged in. I tried to start it with the start button in the back and nothing. Looks to be a short somewhere. Bummer
  3. In my original post I mentioned I tried another PSU. I tried with my EVGA 1300w psu that I know works as well still the same issue.
  4. Alright so I tested my system and everything worked. Took it apart this weekend to install some water cooling parts. Now everything is back together and I have a weird issue. The motherboard lights up, no error codes shown. I turn on the power supply I get a flash of light from the case then gone. The power button doesn't turn the system on. The start button on the motherboard doesn't either. I cleared the CMOS and tried again and nothing. I double checked my power switches to make sure they are plugged in correctly to the Mobo. I tried without the GPU plug in, with one stick of ram, and with no ram and nothing. I tried with my alternative psu and still the same issue. So I plugged in a speaker and there are no beeps. I also tried two different fans in the CPU fan header just to be sure it wasn't that. I'm just running out of ideas because the whole system worked prior to taking it apart. This isn't the first time I have water cooled either. There wasn't any spills or anything to worry about. The only think I can think of is a bad motherboard, however I didn't even remove the motherboard after I checked it worked. It was the only part I didn't take out. For what I can tell it's like the system won't power on at all. System: Asus impact VIII Z170 Intel 6700k GTX 1080 Intel 750 u.2 nvme 400gb Sf600 Corsair psu G. 5. The Dell 2716dg will go on sale from time to time at $450 and lower if it is open box at best buy. It is gsync, 144hz, 1ms, 1440p, 27" and looks professional not like the stupid gaming monitors. I had one and the colors were on point. Viewing angles are good but it is a TN panel so not as good as ips. But you don't have to worry about ips backlight bleed so blacks were amazing and it comes with a awesome warranty from Dell.
  6. Instead of buying the 1080 when it came out I bought a second 980 ti. It was the worst purchase I have done. There are so many games now where sli is not supported at all. Then you can get buggy drivers and weird issues like half frame rates you have to figure out. The second Gpu was turned off more times it was in use and was just wasted. My suggestion sell the 1070 and buy best card you can. Or just stick it out with the 1070. It all depends what resolution you want to play on anyway. If you at 1080p just keep a single 1070.
  7. My knowledge on PCIe slots is not great. Thanks for the info. I did a little research and found exactly what you wrote. I plan on selling it which is one of the reasons I want to wipe it first. I picked up a Intel 750 u.2 as a substitute.
  8. I thought that but the motherboard I have doesn't have a pcie express. Can an express fit in a full length pci lane?
  9. So I moved from a atx to an itx that doesn't have a m.2 socket. I have purchased two adaptors from Amazon but neither of them when used show on Windows as drives in my computer, disk management, or in the command prompt. https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-2-5in-Adapter-Converter-SAT32M225/dp/B00ITJ7U20 https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01KDC16WU/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1488572264&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=M.+2+to+sata Is there an adaptor out there so I can wiped my m.2 without a m.2 socket. I have an Asus impact viii and only have a u.2 or Sata connector. I guess I should have wiped it before I sold my motherboard but oh well.
  10. Yeah tried that. My laptop I am doing it on freezes up. I also tried on my i7 surface and it goes nowhere.
  11. So my system froze while formating the drive for a fresh install of windows 10 on my new system. I plugged it into my Mac to reformat it fresh and get a error saying it can't unboot or something similar. Basically I get the working bar and it never moves when I try to erase it to a exfat or ms-dos master boot. It will sit there for a good thirty minutes trying to erase it before the error. So I tried doing the reformatting on my windows computer I also get an error. I cannot initialize the drive or reformat. It shows on my Mac and Windows as having two partitions a local disk e and f. One of 500gb with no name and nothing available and a 500mb with a name. I tried loading windows fresh again but it doesn't see the drive. I tried reformatting both partitions and still get an error. I have also done command, cmd, disk part, list disk and it doesn't show. I did get it to show once but was unable to do anything. Anyone have any ideas what is going on? I would rma it but I lost my receipt I have moved three times since I bought the thing.
  12. Weirder is in the Nvidia panel it shows 8 lanes. Gpuz shows only one lane
  13. I5 4690k, gigabyte z97 gaming 7, 850w psu. Says only 200mb of vram and freezes up after 15 minutes.
  14. I thought that to but I am unsure why it shows up using 16 lanes on my Gtx 960.
