  1. Since the PC itself won’t turn on, I cannot.
  2. I just checked, and the fan did not spin when I ran the test. Eco mode was disabled. And yeah, that’s what’s confusing me too. It was working perfectly fine, so there really shouldn’t be a reason for it to stop. I’ll triple check all my cables first thing tomorrow. I’ve reseated my RAM, but have held off reseating my CPU, but since nothing has worked for the past 2 days, I’ll probably end up reseating my CPU tomorrow. Edit: I have tried turning on my PC by clicking the “START” button on my motherboard as well, so I don’t believe that it’s a Front Panel Connector issue.
  3. Well, nothing really happens. Right after I hit the power button, my PSU makes a slight clicking noise (which it has always done at start up), but nothing happens. Edit: a friend of mine thinks the clicking noise I hear is coil whine from the PSU, but since this is my first PC and I don’t think I’ve ever heard/dealt with coil whine ever before, I’m not sure what it is.
  4. Hello guys, So I just upgraded my PC from a 7700K and Maximus IX Formula to a 9700K and Maximus XI Code. However, my PC won’t turn on. The motherboard and keyboard (which is hooked up to the motherboard) light up, but the PC won’t start up. A friend of mine suggested using the 24pin cable tester that EVGA provides with their PSUs, so I gave it a shot, and as far as I can hear my PSU fan isn’t spinning. Could my PSU be the issue? If it is, how come my motherboard’s RGB was still functioning? How audible is a PSU fan? PSU is EVGA G3 1000watt, and full system specs are in my signature. Thanks!
  5. I thought the Maximus XI boards were designed for Intel’s 9th gen CPUs? And would this prevent the PC as a whole from turning on?
  6. Hi guys, So I recently upgraded my PC from a 7700K and Maximus IX Formula to 9700K and Maximus XI Code. However, after installing everything and pressing the power button, the PC won’t boot. The lights on my motherboard and keyboard turn on, so they’re receiving power, but when I hit the power button, the PC turns on for the slightest fraction of a second, then turns off. I assume that my issue doesn’t have to do with my RAM or the cables such as SATA cables, Fan cables, and USB cables, so that means my issue probably lies with my power cables, CPU cooler, or CPU/motherboard itself. Am I right to assume this? What should I try to do next? Full specs in signature. Thanks!
  7. Ok, so I thought about it over night and realized that the problem most likely doesn’t have to do with my RAM or cables such as SATA cables, USB cables, Fan cables etc. I’m pretty sure that my issue lies with my power cables, the CPU cooler, or the CPU/motherboard itself. Am I right to assume this? What should I test first?
  8. Yes, all stand offs are installed. Well, even though the motherboard manual shows a stand off in the center of the board, I couldn’t find one, so I removed the center standoff from my case before installing my motherboard. Cable management behind the motherboard is... acceptable imo, and in the front is quite good.
  9. If I can’t find anything else that’ll fix it, I’ll do this first thing tomorrow. It’s starting to get kinda late where I live.
  10. Hi guys, So I just finished installing my Maximus XI Code and 9700k as a little upgrade from my Maximus IX Formula and 7700K. However, when I plug in the power cable to my PC, the motherboard lights up, but when I hit the power button, the PC starts up for the smallest fraction of a second, then turns off. Ive tried removing all cables to the motherboard and connecting them back again, as well as taking out my ram and trying different configurations with that. My full specs: 9700K Maximus XI Code NZXT X52 32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 3600MHz EVGA GTX 1080Ti FTW3 Hybrid EVGA G3 1000w Samsung 960 Pro 512GB Samsung 850 Evo 1TB WD Black 2TB Corsair Fans + NZXT case lighting Phanteks Enthoo Evolv Not really sure what to try next. I’d really hate to have to take off my CPU cooler and try and reseat my CPU.. but if that’s what’s necessary.. Thanks
  11. Ah ok. So after I’ve completed the steps in settings before I remove my CPU and motherboard, and then after I install my new CPU and motherboard, it should just automatically ask for my Activation Key and then I’m done?
  12. Hey guys, Man, it’s been a while since I’ve used this site, but it looks like I need some help again. I currently have a i7 7700K and ASUS Maximus IX Formula motherboard, and I’m planning on upgrading to an i9 9900K and Maximus XI Code very soon. I’m wondering if all I need to do is just take out my current motherboard and CPU and install the new ones? Will my M.2 (with Windows on it) work perfectly fine when I install it on my new motherboard? Is there any software I should uninstall/install? Thanks!
  13. Hey guys, So I recently decided to refund my Astro A50s after they served me well for 2 years, and I’m in the market for new headphones. I primarily use headphones to play video games, but I enjoy listening to music and watching movies from time to time as well (Id say it’s 80% gaming and 20% music/movies). As for the games I play, I mostly find myself playing FPS games like Rainbow 6 Siege and Battlefield 5. After much thought I’ve narrowed down my headphone search to the Sennheiser x Massdrop PC37X, Sennheiser x Massdrop HD6XX, and Hyper X Cloud II’s. Ive heard of the infamous reputation that Sennheiser has and am quite intrigued to try them out. Both the PC37X and HD6XX, however, don’t have 7.1 Surround Sound, which I felt I enjoyed much on my A50s. I do realize that the PC37X’s and HD6XX’s are made for entirely different purposes, but after reading some online, I saw that quite a few people recommended the HD6XX’s in combination with a stand-alone mic for gaming over the PC37X’s. For the types of games I play (FPS) and the decent amount of music I listen to, would buying the HD6XX’s over the PC37X be the better choice? As for the Hyper X Cloud II’s.. well.. I think we’ve all heard about these. From what I read, they are solid overall headphones. Nothing very outstanding, but nothing too bad either. How would this headset compare to the PC37X/HD6XX? I guess it’s somewhat worthy to mention that the Cloud II’s have Surround Sound. TL;DR, PC37X or HD6XX or Cloud II’s?
  14. Hello, So I have been experiencing a random problem for the past few months where my GPU randomly drops 5-25% Usage while in game for seemingly no reason, which causes weird "hitching" and stuttering in games. I spent months trying to see if resetting my Overclocks would work, resetting in game settings, and seeing if cleaning out old drivers would work, but nothing helped. Lately, while messing around will some more stuff, I have discovered some potentially interesting clues that have brought up some questions: -I have my PC connected to a modem/router combo from Xfinity, and while my speeds are excellent, my "BufferBloat" is extremely high, sometimes exceeding 1200ms. Using WireShark, I discovered that during a five minute session of Rust, my internet experienced a lot of "TCP Retransmissions" and other TCP related issues. Could getting a new router/modem fix this problem, and maybe even my GPU usage issues? Furthermore, this GPU usage issue only occurs in multiplayer games, like Rust, Rainbow Six Siege, and COD BO4. -I usually have my frames capped at 144 to match my monitors refresh rate, but I recently decided to just uncap it and see how it goes. My GPU usage was much more stable, but it did sometimes still drop 5-10% for seemingly no reason. -I am using CableMod ModMesh cables for my whole PC. I read somewhere online that custom cables can sometimes cause power delivery problems to components. Should I try using my default cables that came with my PSU to check? -I have my PC plugged into a surge protector from Tripp Lite, could plugging directly into the wall help? I don't think there is any bottlenecking occurring or anything in my PC, as it is fairly new. My CPU and GPU temperatures are good, below 70c on the CPU and 55c on the GPU. My CPU usage also looks fairly normal as well. Here are my specs: -i7 7700K @4.8GHz 1.300v -EVGA GTX 1080Ti FTW3 Hybrid @2075MHz -Corsair Dominator Platinum 32GB @3200MHz -ASUS Maximus IX Formula -EVGA G3 1000watt PSU (with custom cables as mentioned above) -NZXT X52 CPU cooler -Dell S2716DGR 1440p 144Hz What could be my issue? I've spent so many hours troubleshooting my CPU and GPU that I'm starting to think that they are not the direct problem. What should I try first? Again, this is a random problem I've begun experiencing since about April/May of this year.
  15. Hi guys, So I have finally found out that my modem/router suffers from really bad BufferBloat, which is what is causing a lot of the frame drops I am experiencing in games. A fix that I have read online is using OpenWRT to mess with the router's SQM settings. However OpenWRT doesn't support the modem/router combo I have, which is the Cisco DPC3941T (provided by my ISP). I plan on replacing my modem/router combo with the Motorola MG7550/AC1900 modem/router since I am currently paying rent on the DPC3941T. Will replacing it fix my Bufferbloat problems? If not, what should I do? Thanks
  16. Sell it it is. Thanks guys. Oh, and if someone’s looking for a lightly used EVGA GTX 1070 FTW2 in the US, message me .
  17. Hey guys, So a couple of weeks ago a guy sold me his EVGA GTX 1070 FTW2, which he thought was broken, for $25. I managed to fix it (it was just a driver issue lol) but I don’t exactly know what to do with the card now. I already have a PC with a 1080Ti, so I can’t put this GPU in it. I’ve thought about selling it for around $300-375, or building a mining PC and using it. Right now, selling it seems like the better option since the crypto currency market looks down and using the 1070 would give me about $1 a day, but I feel like in a few months or so the market may go up and mining might be a more viable option. What do you guys think? Sell the GPU, or keep it and mine?
  18. Followed the steps in the guide (I posted the link above). I enabled the option for safe mode in the Boot Menu through Command Prompt then restarted into Safe Mode (from the screen that asks me what OS I would like to use). I then used DDU and let that do its thing. Then I restarted the chose to run the normal Windows 10 OS.
  19. This didn't exactly work. After I open msconfig, under the General tab, I have Selective Startup chosen by default. If I chose Normal Startup and hit 'Apply' and then 'Ok', It asks me to restart, which I do. However, After restarting, I still get the screen that asks me what operating system I would like to run. After choosing the normal Windows 10 and booting, I checked msconfig and it had reverted back to Selective Startup. I can't get it to actually stay on Normal Startup
  20. Hey guys, So I wiped my GPU drivers for the first time using DDU while running the Windows Safe Mode with Networking option, which I enabled by following this guide (https://windowsreport.com/add-safe-mode-boot-menu-windows-10/). Now, after having installed my new GPU drivers and having entered the normal Windows operating system, whenever I turn on my PC or restart it, I immediately get a screen which asks me whether which operating system I would like to run (Normal or Safe Mode with Networking). While its not really a major problem, per se, its kind of annoying. Is there a way to disable this, or just have it default to the Normal Windows 10 without it asking? Thanks.
  21. My monitor has pretty basic color adjustment features, so yes
  22. Even color adjustments I had applied to my monitor?
  23. Hi guys, So I've been encountering a weird stuttering issue in some of my games and thought that new drivers may be the fix to my issues. I have new drivers available (398.36) and decided to go ahead with the installation. I've always just done an "Express Installation" option in the GeForce Experience software, but I clicked on "Custom Installation" and there is an option to "Perform a clean installation". I assume this is what I should do, but there is a little sidenote next to it saying that it will "restore all NVIDIA settings to the default value and remove any profiles you have created". What does this mean? Like. the OC profile I have saved in Precision XOC? Thanks,
