I just bought an R720 and am currently looking into my options for raid configurations. I am mainly trying to decide between running the card in non-raid mode and using something like unRaid or creating a raid 10 array. The main thing I like about unraid is that is allows you to easily expand your pool. However I've been looking into the raid card(H310) that came in the r720 and it appears the card allows you to add drives without data loss by using the reconfiguration utility. Does anyone know how this reconfiguration works? Is the probability of losing you entire array during this reconfiguration high? Does it put as much strain on the drives as say rebuilding the array due to a drive failure?

Did a quick check of application logs around time of the crash. Still no errors or anything out of the ordinary. I can give the old drivers a check, however this has been occurring over 3 months so I have tried multiple driver versions with no change.

Ok so looking through the event viewer I see the critical error is Kernel-Power 41 which to my knowledge is just saying that windows was shut down unexpectedly, which corresponds to me having to do a hard restart after ever lock up. I then looked at System events around the time of the critical error. I see an error EventLog 6008 which just states that the previous shutdown was unexpected. There are no other events of note around the shutdown time. Is there any other place I should look in the event viewer?

I built a PC a couple months ago (see part list) and from time to time it will just completely lock up. The screen freezes , no blue screen or auto restart, and I have no ability to use my mouse or keyboard. The only way to return to normal operations is to do a hard reset by holding the the power button. I should note that the LED's & fans are still running even after the freeze. It appears that the freeze most commonly occurs when the GPU is under load and I ALT-TAB to my browser. However it will also occur when the GPU is under load and no other programs are running in the background. This freeze probably happens once a day or every other day. I have tried a couple things to troubleshoot the problem but had no success. Things I have tried: I have been monitoring temps and both my GPU and CPU are around 40C when the freeze occurs. Ran a memory test overnight. Returned no errors CPU Stress Test GPU Stress test BurnIn test Removed and Reinstalled graphics driver Updated Bios HDD Tests Removed HDD and ran everything off SSD Ran a quick check of my components to make sure my PSU was adequate. Do you guys have any suggestions to troubleshoot the problem? Thanks in Advance!
