What is your specific budget?? Under 300 Euros?? If you don't require your laptop for anything much apart from video playback and some web browsing then a tablet would be great for this. You will easily get a much better display than cheap laptops and battery life will be better maybe 4-5 hours or longer.

Yes, under 300 euros. The cheaper, the better to be honest.

I have read good reviews on the Lenovo Tab 3, it has an IPS Display and decent sound according to the reviews. Do you have any other recommendations?

No you will not, only AMD.

If that is the case, I could always cap the frame rate with RTSS depending on the individual performance of the game.

Do you know any G-Sync monitors which have a similar VA panel and spec?

I have found this LG monitor but the reviews state it doesn't have the same coloration as the Samsung panels. Is it worth waiting for the HDR monitors instead?

  3. I am looking for a gaming monitor with excellent colour reproduction and I have noticed that many of the freesync monitors have excellent panels, VA or quantum dot technology. The only other alternative would be to find a G-Sync monitor with a VA panel but they seem to be a rarity.

Excellent contrast ratio and colour reproduction but my concern is the refresh rate. If I buy a freesync monitor, will I be able to take advantage of the freesync feature if I have a Nvidia card?

I have also seen the Acer Predator XB271HU G-Sync 165Hz monitor with an IPS, how does it compare to a VA? Will it have the same level of colour reproduction?

    Thank you.

NVIDIA is reportedly asking retailers to stop selling its graphics cards to miners in a bold move by the company to remedy the catastrophic GPU shortage that we’ve seen take hold for the past several months. GPUs are consistently out of stock in all major retailers on a global scale and graphics card prices have seen a two to three fold increase over original MSRPs.

Unfortunately, I have read that there are bots that buy high-end graphics cards as soon as they come into stock.

  5. Skyrim Special Edition is extremely well optimized and better than the original Skyrim in many areas, either card will work fine.

You can even sustain 50fps+ with a i3 4150 and a 1050Ti, the game is not demanding at all. The game runs at 40-60fps on my laptop with a i7 6700HQ and a 960m 2GB at 1080p high settings, Bethesda have done a great job with the optimization.

Most Samsung TVs (KS9000 included) and high end "LED" TVs use VA panels. IPS isn't nearly as good in terms of black levels (causing poor contrast).

Is it correct that high end VA panels suffer from worse viewing angles than IPS? Which display technology provides the best uniformity?

  7. The recorded input lag is 29ms in game mode and 46 in standard mode, it isn't the best television for gaming but it is very acceptable for a television in this range.

If you are looking for 10-bit HDR panel, you are not going to find it with the premium UHD certificate in that price range but for the price, the Phillips television is good value for money if you receive a panel with minimal issues.

Fallout 4 will last you far longer than DOOM

And if you like atmospheric games like fallout, I would just get fallout 3 and NV which might be on sale as well, and imo better than 4

I recommend Fallout: New Vegas over Fallout 3, many people have had compatibility issues with Fallout 3 running on Windows 10.

  9. The video is more focused on the HTC Vive and not VR technology overall, VR will provide many purposes outside of gaming.

The Oculus Rift has attracted a large market of the simulator fanbase, that is because they focused on the perfecting the seating experience. In comparison, HTC Vive focused on shooting galleries and fruit ninja variants, it was great at first but it was only a matter of time before Sony or Samsung developed cheaper versions of the technology.

For the simulator market, the major titles are already there with Elite: Dangerous, DiRT Rally, Project Cars and Euro Truck Simulator 2 but for other genres, there is still room for major titles.

Its sad that overhyped half finished shit like mafia 3 is a topseller for 60€. And a 35€ Gem is not.

I agree, many people buy based on the marketing and the name of the IP over the production values or optimization of a title. Developers that try something different rarely receive the recognition they deserve as most people play what they regard as a popular product.

Many people in younger generation never played old school first person shooter games, they only know the typical hand holding cookie cutter "cinematic" Call of Duty or Gears of War clones.

  11. If you can stretch your budget, you should consider a FreeSync panel to eliminate stuttering in more demanding titles that the RX 480 will struggle with. Personally, I think FreeSync and G-Sync are more important technologies for gamers over a wider colour gamut if you are not planning to use the monitor for colour sensitive work.

Bought it yesterday and I have loads of fun with it as well. The PC port is very good, the combat feels very meaty and has a lot of impact, good thing that they "fixed" the gunplay compared to SW1. The soundtrack is nice and Lo Wang is classy as ever. The only thing I do not really like is the massive ammount of trash loot, I always prefer the "less, but better loot" approach. But that is a minor issue in a game that overall feels very refreshing in the mostly stale FPS market (this and Doom in the same year, joy!). Polish developers seem to be the golden standard these days. Go Flying Wildhog, go CDPR! Also, the people who complain about the price .... In a world where even the shittiest so-called-AAA game dares to cost 60 dollars/euros this is a steal at 35€, and the 35€ in relation to the cost of your machines, I don't believe you guys are that "poor".

I agree that it isn't a lot of money but it came out so close to big releases, Sid Meier's Civilization V and Dishonored 2 are on the horizon. The all-time peak player count for Shadow Warrior 2 isn't high for a major title but I think more people will pick it up when the steam sale is on.

  13. It is good that run and gun old school FPS games are making a comeback in the mainstream market over the the run and gun cover shooter, I enjoy games that just throw you in the deep end of the action without a tutorial or hand holding.

    Something to contribute now :3

According to Steam, 1080p is the most common resolution at ~37% of those surveyed.  Next is 1368x768 at ~25%. 1440p is about 10th in line. This basically means developers are probably going to optimize for 1080p. Or crank up the effects to keep the status quo of common resolution at 60FPS.

So until higher resolutions become more common place,  I don't see developers caring about targeting them.

That is an interesting statistic,  you can run the majority of the most popular multiplayer and indie games at 1368x768 on a Dual-Core i3 and Intel HD Integrated Graphics or relatively similar hardware.

The only popular titles on Steam that require mid-range hardware are Grand Theft Auto V and the Bethesda titles but even they are relatively well optimized. I thought Virtual Reality could push hardware sales long term for enthusiast tech but with consoles offering HDR and virtual reality, many consumers will just pay a few hundred instead of spending thousands on a custom built machine for the latest Virtual Reality or HDR experience.

  15. If you want to learn to troubleshoot and repair computers, you should look into studying for the CompTIA courses and applying for help desk positions in the IT industry.

PC market sales are at a low point and the market is declining at a home user level, many people prefer to use tablets and smartphones for home use. Businesses order laptops that are covered by a warranty and many laptops are covered by a warranty, new or refurbished.

  16. VR will be revolutionary but it will take time for the major developers to adapt, I think we will see a huge rise in popularity in VR when Fallout 4 and Doom are released for the platform. Major developers are working on VR titles that will for the PSVR as well, I think there will be a few major titles for VR in 2017 that will push the technology to mainstream popularity.
