  1. The main reasons that companies don't do that in the first place though, is for future generations of the product. For example, when apple came out with an ipad that had the front facing camera, they could have done this in earlier generations of the product, but withheld so they would have a new "feature" for future products.
  2. Alright, sounds good. It was just something weird that I encountered and figured I'd share it on the forums
  3. CPU Overdrive is what AMD is now calling there overclocking software in the Catalyst Control Center. It use to just be called AMD Overdrive, but they switched the name in the latest version of CCC I'm using an Asus M5A97 mobo
  4. That's what I planned on doing originally, but the CPU overdrive doesn't allow you to do your own tweaking anymore (which is really annoying). Also I still don't understand how it could be reacting to instability if I set the overclock back to the default stock speeds (not really an overclock anymore) and the games where still reacting the way they were. It wasn't until i turned cpu overdrive off completely that my games started working normal again.
  5. Okay so earlier today I decided to OC my AMD FX4130 using AMD's CPU Overdrive (the new updated version, which is actually quite nice). I got my CPU up to 4.3GHz (stock is 3.8-3.9) and noticed that it had removed the windows 7 aero transparent theme to a solid color. When I tried switching it back, it refused to let me. I didn't really mind because I'd rather have my computer running faster. So I went to open up skyrim and it was twitching in both the menu and loading screens and when the game actually loaded in, the game itself was running at super speeds. By "super speeds" I mean this; Imagine putting a movie into a DVD player, now imagine fast forwarding the movie to something like x4 the original speed. That is how my games are running, except I do not control the speed. I tried this in multiple games as well and got the same results; menu screens twitching, and the game moving ridiculously fast. Now I know that is is the overclocking software doing it because I tried multiple things. 1. I tried restarting my computer and the Aero transparency theme was back to normal, but once I opened up AMD Catalyst Control Center, the theme changed back to the solid theme 2. I tried setting my overclock back to the default; I was not able to change my windows theme back to the Aero theme and my games were still running at super speeds 3. I turned off CPU Overdrive completely, and my games ran perfectly fine. I tried switching to the Aero theme = and it would not let me, but I think that's because I need to restart my computer. I figured out what was causing my games to speed up (the overclock), but I still don't understand why this is. I kept mentioning the Aero theme, because I think that it's involded in whatever is happening. If anyone could tell me why it is that the overclock is doing what it's doing, and how to make it stop doing said thing, that'd be awesome.
  6. Yeah I think the 750d will be my choice, I'm leaning more towards it.
  7. Preferabley, airflow (I think silenced optimized cases are cool, so I'm open to looking at them)Window No door
  8. So I'm deciding to upgrade to a new computer case. I currently have a Thermaltake Level 10 GTS (note it's a GTS, not a GT) and I don't really like it for several reasons. To start, I can't mount the H100 that I bought in it . Another huge flaw that I have with this case is that it has 4 hotswap bays, but only one place to mount hard drives internally. I don't really need hotswap bays and half of them don't even work... But now I want to upgrade to something different and I have been trying to decide between a few cases. So, tell me which you would suggest! Case Corsair 750d Corsair 650d Corsair Air 540 NZXT Phantom 530 I'm also open to other case suggestions. Typically I like simplistic looks (hence all the corsair choices), So I'm open to things such as Fractal Design or Bitfenix cases. Any help would be appreciated!
  9. from NY to CA. I had the foam laying around from an old case, decided to use it.
  10. It's closed cell, I can assure you. If it wasn't, I know for a fact that Linus would not approve.... ever....
  11. I had to make a profit on the card some how!
  12. So I sold my old Graphics Card today and I wanted to make sure that when I ship it out, it wouldn't be damaged. As we all know, Linus has a foam fetish. So tell me, do you think Linus would approve of my packing job? [spoiler=] [spoiler=] [spoiler=] *Note, the images are pretty big for whatever reason.
  13. Regardless. The only reason for beta anymore is server testing. They usually run older versions of the game. But still, if that's your excuse than the devs have A LOT of work to do in one month before release. It's really just EA and DICE being lazy and choosing a bad version of the game.
  14. I actually have a question that can be thrown onto this topic. I recently upgraded from a 550ti to a 7950. I still have my 550ti (haven't gotten around to selling it), would I be able to use that for physX while still running the 7950 for everything else?
  15. I bought the MSI Twin Frozer for several reasons. It has extremely good cooling, although not as good as Gigabyte's. But, it does not have a voltage lock, where as I believe that the Gigabyte windforce does. So, it's extremely good for overclocking and being able to get as much performance out of it as possible. Also it has the same pcb as a 7970, which from reading, can give slightly better performance. I'm not an expert on the card but all of what I said, I read from multiple sources, which pushed me towards the card. Also, I've had it for over a month now and I'm loving the card, I have no regrets in the purchase!
