  1. I previously had a dual boot of Windows/Ubuntu, and GRUB didn't read it and would keep my screen on endlessly, but I think it worked on Windows.
  2. Is there a particular reason you want a prebuilt? A few notes: Don't ever cheap out on a power supply. You can get good prices on them, but please stick to recommended brands. It's unlikely that a 3060 Ti can play games into the 250 FPS range. You're unlikely to get much out of it for this reason. You also may want to steer clear of cheaper fans as they can be quite loud and/or inefficient. If you're able to build one yourself, try something along these lines. 3. I've been using Linux Mint on my Thinkpad for a few days now, but it doesn't seem to shut off when I close the lid. To my knowledge, the power settings are applied correctly: But even when I shut the laptop, I know it's still running as it gets hot in my bag and the battery drops, and when I open it it is on the lock screen. Should I look into the lid sensor?
  4. My CS program is primarily C/C++ based, and as a TA for the intro C course, I personally recommend going with WSL versus macOS to be honest.
  5. A great album to start with! I'm guessing you picked up the repress?
  6. They do, but their 2001 release Discovery is at minimum $450 as it was a really small release, and I haven't gotten their 2015 or 2019 releases. I've seen the 2019, but eh.
  7. I am skeptical of using a Crosshair mobo, and the CPU seems overkill. The list you gave uses a PCIe 5 SSD, something you're very unlikely to see much gains on in terms of performance, so I switched it to just a X670 chipset and got two 4TB PCIe 4 SSDs.
  8. I have all of their original records from their debut in 1971 to their breakup in 1985. My exception to that is that I also picked up the 2LP of Secret Messages, since that has more original music on it. Ultimately, I'd like to pick up the UK versions of ELO 2 and On the Third Day as those have different artwork. What all do you have collected?
  9. Just to make sure I have this right, I could install gnome onto Linux Mint? Or would it not really make sense at that point to stay on Mint?
  10. I think the first question is what you use your PC for. When you upgrade your CPU, chances are you'll be on DDR5 so you'd need to upgrade your RAM anyway.
  11. I'm giving a shot to Mint! So far it's been pretty good, and I like the desktop environment. I've never heard of Kubuntu, I'll have to give it a try.
  12. Here's some pics of my new build from May. I'd love to pick up some CableMod cables at some point, since the stock PSU cables do not look good at all, imo.
  13. Hi all, just reactivated my account after migrating from Reddit. I am preparing my biyearly factory wipe on my laptop (Thinkpad X1 Yoga Gen 4) and I'd like to give Linux a try to help maintain performance as my laptop hardware ages. I'd love to get a Framework someday, but I can't justify it while my current laptop should work fine. I previously have tried Ubuntu from time to time, but never fell in love. I'd like to try Linux Mint as it looks relatively beginner friendly for me to adjust to. I primarily use it as a school laptop for CS, so using IDEs like CLion, IntelliJ, etc. It's a 2-in-1 as well, so anything that can work well with a stylus is also appreciated. I also plan to use Bluetooth devices, so ease of use for that is also preferred. I would appreciate any feedback or recommendations!
  14. Try using only the 2 GB modules in dual channel.
  15. I personally have a Gaming X RX 480 8GB, I am extremely pleased with it.
