  1. Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and I thought I'd give the challenge a go. Using PCPartpicker I've made a list of parts, the prices and the reasons why I picked it. PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/NTsL2R CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($234.39 @ Amazon) - I would have loved a i7-6700k but its to expensive and I was being practical, it's a good all rounder and still a good OC if you want to. CPU Cooler: Scythe Mugen 4 79.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($47.89 @ OutletPC) - Great performer and quit. Only $10 more then the Cooler Master, worth it IMO. Motherboard: Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($144.99 @ NCIX US) - Gotta have USB 3.1 (gen2) Type C. Next time you blink anything with a battery will need it. Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($77.88 @ OutletPC) - Little is gained by spending more IMO. 2400Mhz, Cas 15 and it's pretty. Storage: Samsung 950 PRO 256GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($186.99 @ SuperBiiz) - @ 2.200/900MB/s. That speed. Can't not have it. Storage: Hitachi Deskstar 7K2000 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($65.82 @ Amazon) - Because I also need a place to put my stuff, can't beat it for reliability. Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 6GB G1 Gaming Video Card ($289.00) - It's fast and shiny and can't afford a 1070 Case: Phanteks ECLIPSE P400S ATX Mid Tower Case White ($87.89 @ Amazon) - Sleek design, enough fan/radiator space, just a little bigger then the NZXT S340 and the shiny LEDS of course. Power Supply: Corsair CXM 550W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($39.99 @ newegg after $20 rebate) - It had to be 80 Plus Bronze at least, semi modular. Its a simple build, don't need all the cables. Reliable. At least 450 watt. Monitor: BenQ XL2430T 24.0" 144Hz Monitor ($350.98 @ Newegg) - Good for gaming, but high refresh is nice for any user not just gamers. Bigger, G-Sync or fancier just puts things over the limit. Keyboard: Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2014 Wired Gaming Keyboard ($89.72 @ Amazon) - Good keyboard. Unless mechanical keyboards annoy you. Then no, not so much. Mouse: Razer DeathAdder Chroma Wired Optical Mouse ($60.99 @ Best Buy) -Good mouse. Wireless Network Adapter: Edimax EW-7811UTC USB 2.0 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi Adapter ($15.99 @ Newegg) - It was this or a 120 mm fan ... Other: It's a Boy! Individually Wrapped Blue Bubble Gum Cigar Box - 36-Count ($0.99) - And I shall name him: Walter. Slick never said it had to be a gaming rig, so this is as balanced as my mind will go on building an allround rig. Total: $1699.51 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-07-25 20:23 EDT-0400 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-07-25 20:19 EDT-0400
