  1. np Im under the impression that i9 is terrible value Edit: i9* not i8
  2. Thats why I put an 8700 on an H370. I said on the *right* is my counter.
  3. Could use a few second opinions guys. On the right is my counter to his proposal. It is intended just for gaming Edit: Updated comparison counter:
  4. Hey guys, I believe I have a problem. My rig was built in December, slowly just been upgrading away at it but nothing crucial yet. Specs: GTX 1080 Armor OC + Kraken G12 + H80i v2 Ryzen 5 2600 @4.0Ghz 2x8GB RAM, 2933Mhz C15 1440p 144Hz panel netive gaming The issues never bothered me at first, I was just happy. Slowly I noticed I have a little underperformance in some games, noticeably in CS:GO and GTAV. Freshly checking just now, CSGO got anywhere between ~130 - 230fps which was jarring to me, GTA Online gets me as low as 60 in most areas on high-very high settings. If I'm buggin, lmk I'll understand if I'm actually just expecting too much from my PC or if 1440p. Side note: I do have a second 1080p monitor on the side usually playing TV shows or discord chat etc. Help a boy out fellas, TY
  5. as I thought then. Actually I thought maybe 2022 or later. Next year is a tad too close to not hear anything right? Bro thats what I thought too! How cheap can something get you know. Prices like this are never before seen
  6. Hey guys, so I have been out of the PC scene for a while till recently. Its amazing to see how large and frequent the strides in technology development is and I'm proud to be a part of it as it grows. Recently, I was selling my RAM kit to get some better ones and a guy reached out asking for a ridiculously low price because 1. It was was used (2mo) and 2. DDR5 is coming soon and it will outperform. This has the chance to come off as naive or un-knowledgeable but that was my past couple years in the tech field. My understanding of DDR5 is that it hasn't been finalized enough to take onto mainstream and especially because DDR4 is doing so well. But the guy insisted it was coming soon and ultimately I refused to sell a Corsair 16gb 3000Mhz Cl15 kit for 80 bucks. So my question to you guys is, is DDR5 to be expected soon? Wouldn't that mean you will indefinitely need a new CPU-Mobo combo to make use of it? Are there any chances of it having backward compatibility? Will DDR4 drop in price even more so, regardless of DDR5 and if it does come out, can we expect a dramatic drop? Leave your thoughts below please, looking to get as much insight as I can absorb lol Thanks!
  7. Completely agree that its silly, but since I built this in December, I've only added more and more. Performance wide, only big steps left. GTX 1080, Ryzern 2600, all runs coolly and fast. Sometimes I swap out the little things to give it as I said, more flare, lol. Will cehck the lsit to see if it makes a mention though, I'm not particularly familiar with the "dye"s and such terms. Haven't been there yet I'm afraid. Thanks, I'll give it a look haha. Side Note, If I do this sell and buy switch, It'd cost me around 20 bucks and dI love the white aesthetic. Also going forward to selling my soul to corsair's eco system basically.
  8. Hey guys, hoping for some help with something. I'm considering switching out my RAM for some visual flare. Currently I have the Corsair Vengeance White CL15-3000Mhz (though for some reason I can only get 3000Mhz at CL16). The ram being considered are the RGB PRO ones from Corsair. I'm selling my current ones to buy the new, but I can't quite afford the 3000Mhz CL15. Although the 2666Mhz CL16 I can. I was wondering if anyone could help me get an idea on how well the cheaper one overclocks so that maybe I can just get that and run it 3000Mhz CL16. I ask because my impression of Corsair ram is that they overclock poorly compared to my old G Skill sticks. (perhaps I just have a bad kit). Some purchasing advice would be appreciated too. Thank you! - Current Kit
  9. Yes I've heard this before. Thing is, I have mATX builds anyway so the shift to ITX and remaining the same size might seem a bit crazy and costly but ultimately, I'm a fool obsessed.
  10. Thanks a lot for your extremely detailed and helpful response. Honestly feeling supported and enlightened. I thank you!
  11. Its for the aesthetics. I like the sort of crammed and curvy look of it. Thermals may be an issue but that I can manage. Any other reason you this so or is it just an opinion from you?
  12. Its been my dream case for years, what can I say i like the style. Now that I have a job and the resources to get it done, I can't seem to find it anywhere. I found a couple on amazon.us and some 200usd for another retailer but nothing in our native CANADA. If anyone has any idea where to look for or if you happen to have one youre willing to sell, I'm all ears. P.S. I live in and out of Alberta, and I'm hoping to find the window panel white version.
  13. I didn't think I would even find 1070's retail anymore but if I see it I'll grab one. However since blender is the top choice for render guys in our locale, I think the vega 56 will do fine considering its cheaper and more designed for workstations than single programs.
  14. From what I know, they will hire someone to render stills of architecture and pools etc. My guess would be to prepare it to use blender and 3ds. Any further knowledge, I lack in the matter. Eddit: I also think some walk through animation style things might be in the scope as well.
  15. Hey guys, So my office needs a build for our new render position. I'm putting together something budget and will be buying the following parts - CPU - Ryzen 2600 Mobo - Asrock HDV B450M Ram - Corsair 16Gb 3000Mhz Storage 1 - Kingston 120Gb SSD Storage 2 - WD Blue 1TB HDD PSU - Corsair CX550M 80+ Bronze GPU Option 1 - Zotac Gaming RTX 2060 IceStorm - 6GB GPU Option 2 - Saphire Radeon Pulse RX Vega 56 - 8GB I've reached a conundrum with the GPU section because it was my understanding that the Vega 56 was one of the best budget options for rendering tasks. However, the slightly more expensive RTX2060 seems to be a bit more, (shall I say) solid option with less chance for hitches or other notoriety like crashing. If anyone has any experience with the two for blender/3dsmax or other mainstream rendering apps, please let me know below. All opinions are welcome. Thanks!
  16. Thanks man, I'm really happy with the cahnge. imo the MAX is beefy af compared to the other two. The prism is taller than the stealth but doesnt have enough "hunk" to soak up the heat you know?
  17. This should be a PSA cus I couldnt get enough info on it before. I have an R5 2600 that I used with the stock stealth cooler. My first horizontal facing cpu cooler and I loved the aesthetics. Sadly, I couldnt overclock worth a damn, and just let it turbo to 3.700 while hitting 70-75. (I live in the mideast) Recently I built a PC for a client and he got himself a 2700X but wanted an aftermarket cooler I grabbed the unused Wraith MAX rgb and by golly... It turbo'd to 3.850 from the get go and kept under 50c idle. I was blown away and now I just used this headroom to OC to 4.1 at 1.35V and its kicking STILL UNDER 60. People out there should know that a wraith MAX rgb is a stylish af cooler that also does performs brilliantly. Thanks for reading my little flex
  18. This was yesterday by the way and, indeed they did disappear after a simple restart. Thanks! Well luckily no such thing happened. And would it still be right to call it bricked if it still functions even with the artifacts?
  19. Yesterday I was testing out the performance when I OC my GTX950 to see any difference in my working applications. Harmless checking really, then when I hit the memory clock hard as I usually do with my othe rcards like GTX1060 and 1080, I saw these appear shortly. It was weird, they moved around and didn't go away until a full restart. I've never seen em before nor do I know much about visual issues on displays. Is this threatening to my card or PC or harmless side effects of a bad OC? Could use an expert thanks!
  20. Thanks a lot for your input, talking penguin. I've tested all those parts you mentioned on a secondary rig and have confirmed that they run perfectly fine. Its just the dead mobo and uncertain psu. I think that, from what you say, the psu is fine too. The pin test spun the fan, no pops or lights were noticed and these are all top of the line parts so they should have failsafes if anything. Tomorrow night I'll get my new mobo (MSI B450M Gaming Plus) which costs half as much as the last mobo. I feel safe enough to plug it into my psu. I don't have a voltmeter to do any tests so faith will have to do.
  21. Hey I was wondering something else. Maybe this will be the information you need to diagnose this certainly. Before I saw smoke coming out of my motherboard, There was a different combination of wires that I don't remember. There, it wouldnt boot at all. In fact when I pressed the power button, I noticed a faint "switch sound". Something like a hum click as if it was failing to start up by possibly a safety mechanism. It came from the power supply. Would this indicate that it protected itself and still working fine? Sorry I can't describe the sound any better. Think a whistling hum switch off sound. similar to like, iron mans respulsor blast or something lol I really cant explain better. *click* *hums to zero* Edirt: additional info: the soudn only happened once each time I reset the psu switch. I turned it on, pressed pwr, heard the sound, nothing happens, pressed pwr again and again, nothing. Until I turn off the psu and back.
  22. Thank you my man. You summed it up as I'd hoped. Also, Thanks to everyone here for your responses, especially those pictures. I'll be doing these tests soon and will get back to you!
  23. I was also wondering if I'm on the right track here. Can such a mistake mess up the psu?
  24. is there a way of knowing which pins? all these wires are black..
