  1. Unfortunately @Boston_Bruins_SD wants to spend 600$ and for that price you cannot buy a new XPS so...
  2. If you do not need an ultrabook, a good lightweight alternative is Dell's Inspiron 7000 line (Inspiron 13 or 15).
  3. Sync programs (like Synkron) only copy the changes that you make on your folder, each time you schedule a sync, and not the entire data of your drive so you will only have to wait 4+ hours once...
  4. Here is what you need to achieve that: 5 VMs, 5 instances of windows (student version is free), 5 instances of Inventor, Solidworks and Matlab (student version is free I think), one hypervisor (unraid, ESXi). Hardware-wise you will need at least 24 threads (more will be better), at least 64 gb of ram, at least 5 GPUs (1 for passthrough/ 1 for each VM), at least 6 ssds, a case to fit all that and a psu to power all that. Now some other notes on the subject. If you are going to use the Autodesk stuff for educational purposes (light objects) I guess you can get by with cheaper GPUs lets say GTX 950s for example. On the other hand you will have to spend big on the CPUs+MOBO. All and all this is my proposal (+ 4 more 950s)
  5. Well I live in Greece so I don't see that day coming any time soon
  6. Remote desktop streaming on the internet is worse than it should be at this point. I use chrome remote desktop and I can tell you that I do share your point of view on this. Game streaming via the internet is not possible on Chromebooks I think, Remote media streaming on the other hand is great, very satisfied with Plex services. Lets hope android app compatibility solve some of these issues or I will be switching to linux soon.
  7. Actually the post was about me sharing my struggles on setting up chrome os to have some function besides browsing the internets+seeking advice on the subject. It seems that nobody cares so we ended up talking about gaming laptops which is fine by me...
  8. It is just that I missed you guys and I wanted to draw attention back to the post. Oh and by all means feel free to laugh at me. I do post here for fun, no offence taken...
  9. Save some more money and buy a used Y50 or something, you cannot put integrated graphics and gaming in the same sentence. Better yet buy a desktop pc...
  10. I guess I could factor in a membrane keyboard and some crappy speakers (that is what you get on a laptop right?) for what 20$-30$ more? As for a display a really good 15-17 inch monitor costs about how much? oh and 500 Euros = 561.32500 U.S. dollars
