hello i recently bought a display port cable to i could play games at 1440p and 144 hertz but now that i have it , windows 10 will still not let me change the refresh rate higher than 60 without compromising frame rate

i recently built my first computer , i noticed that that my 1080 was hovering temps of 79-82 c while playing witcher 3 on the highest settings possible. I have 2 intake fans in the front of the case, and i have 1 fan at the back of the case that blows the hot air out .

forgot to add i am running win 10

when i go to settings > display setting > advanced display settings > display adapter properties > list all modes 1440p X 2560 and 144 hetz is not an option. my monitor mg279q https://www.asus.com/sg/Monitors/MG279Q/ my graphics card is the gtx 1080
