  1. It is a $10 USD price difference, it would have to be up to him on which one he chooses.
  2. I am just a little worried for around $1700 in total (since the 3070 is above msrp) that the 5600k will seem a little underpowered compared to the 10700k for the hefty price tag. The results seem accurate compared to other videos I have seen.
  3. Would the 10850k and 5800x be overkill for a Flight sim rig and VR?
  4. For $60 more without sales tax, he could get a 5800x ($2047) rather than the 10850k ($1987). Would that be worth it?
  5. Sorry for responding so late, but the z590 Vision G and the B550 taichi are the same price with the micro center rebate, from what I have found, the build with the 10850k is right under the budget of $2000 (1949.99) including a monitor and keyboard if we price match. Hopefully he will decide to go the route with the 10850k
  6. The 10850K is a good deal, but with tax + the 3070 it pushes the budget over by a little. I will try to persuade him to get a 10850k though.
  7. How much longer will the 500 series chipset be supported on AMD, I was thinking of having him get a higher end board like the B550 Taichi or X570 Taichi so that he can have a upgrade path since intel will probably have a new chipset for 12th gen.
  8. My friend is building a PC and at Microcenter they have a i7-10700K for $269.99 and a R5-5600X for $279.99. He is getting a 3070 but we are stuck on what CPU to get since they are around the same price. The PC will mainly be used for Flight Simulator 2020 and VR. From the reviews I have seen, the 5600X has a better IPC than the 10700K, but the 10700K has 2 more cores and 4 more threads. Any help on what CPU to pick would be appreciated, thanks.
  9. I know I have already asked this a week ago, but after doing some more research about the monitors, I have heard that the ASUS has really bad overshoot at lower framerates. If I was going to play a game like flight sim that never runs above 75 FPS with a 3070, would it be noticeable? I am still wondering about the LG also due to the worse contrast and bad black uniformity. Right now where I am in the US, the Asus and the LG are within $10 of each other and it is making the decision really hard. I am still wondering about this due to some of the issues that they both had, and if it wasn't for the issues with the Asus, then the decision would be easier. Which monitor should I get for the games I play? Any help would be appreciated.
  10. The GL850 is not in the budget for the monitor, do you mean the Gl83A?
  11. That would be a option, but it is not compatible with gsync. GSync is important since I will be playing Flight Sim, which can't really reach 144 fps on any hardware at all yet. Even at 1080p ultra with a 3070, it can't reach 144, it will sometimes hit 60-75, but on average, it sits at around 35-50. But it overall fits all the boxes except Gsync.
  12. I just got my 3070 back in December and I am thinking that it is time to get a new monitor. Right now I am using a 1080p 75hz TN monitor (Asus vg245h) and was thinking of upgrading to a 1440p IPS 144hz monitor. Right now I would like to know which of these monitors is better. The highest my budget can go is $400 USD and I am willing to go a little above the budget for the ASUS if it is worth the extra $30. I have heard great things of the LG 27GL83-AB and that it uses the same panel as the GL850. The Asus VG27AQ is also one of the ones I was looking at, but it doesn't have the best reviews about how they can sometime break and have dead pixels. If there are any other 144hz IPS 1440p Gsync panels for around $400, please let me know. Any help would be appreciated.
  13. Yeah with those specs I would lean towards NVIDIA's recommendation of a 750W unit. I would leave some more room to grow too. I would say from experience to get another corsair RMx just a 750w one. I would also recommend waiting until they actually release to see what it actually is.
  14. What are the other specs of your system? I would definitely recommend at VERY least a 650w PSU but would say a 750W would be much better. The 2080 had a 225W TDP while the 3080 is supposed to have a 320W TDP. I personally use a RM550x too but I am planning on getting a 650x for the 3070.
