  1. Just a heads up, I haven't had any luck with any drivers newer than 17.7.1, and I'm fine with that, because my card is buzzing along happily very stable @1350MHz/2200MHz using Afterburner 4.3 to overclock. The new drivers after this and I have to use the newer beta versions of Afterburner 4.4 beta 15, and my clocks are not as stable using the latest 17.8.1, but the previous 17.7.2 I couldn't overclock at all, but I only tried with 4.3. Also had some graphical anomalies in the witcher 3 re:gamma. Gamma was stuck, couldn't change it, and my clocks were not stable at 1350MHz, the frequency would stay at or below the stock settings occasionally spiking to 1300MHz. NOT GOOD. So again, if you haven't checked out the newer drivers, don't, just stick with 17.7.1.
  2. Yeah my Asus Strix GTX1070 is really good too, got screwed with the micron/hynix memory, I forget which, so it doesn't overclock the memory beyond 9000MHz like all the Samsung boys, but my core goes well beyond 2100MHz, and is consistently at 2088MHz and higher, so I'm happy with it. Not as happy as my RX480 super card though LOL Crazy, I know.
  3. For the first time in a while I've been "enjoying" this little card instead of testing it to death, and man, it's a pleasure. My platform isn't so stable, it's old, Z77 chipset ASRock board, with an i7 3770 pulled from a Lenovo desktop from work. Had to leave CPU at stock clocks, system started getting unstable after a while overclocked. Still have the GPU overclocked to the 1350/2200 at stock voltage (auto) and it's purring along so nicely. The Witcher 3 has my full attention lately, and this little card handles it very well with some settings turned down, and that hair shit completely off. No stuttering just silky smooth gameplay, and temperatures never exceeding 65-67 degrees, and it's not too loud either. This is all on my 1080P TV in the livingroom, on my couch with a controller. Main rig is in the bedroom with a heftier setup for 1440P gaming. (Ryzen 1700 & GTX 1070). I haven't touched my main rig much lately, since I've been playing a shit tonne of The Witcher 3. Starting to think 1080P gaming would've been just fine for me with the 480, or a pair of 480s, one for the bedroom one for the livingroom, but alas FPS gameplay I really prefer high frames & smooth mouse movement, and I can't do that with the 480. Anyhoo' that's my update from this awesome budget card. Still can't believe I only paid $200CAD for it (plus taxes of course, got my rebate in the mail though). You'd be hard pressed to find a used one for this money, also knowing it performs the same as an 8GB card has me smiling even more.
  4. @deXxterlab97 So 2250MHz on the VRAM wasn't as stable as I'd initially thought. Random lockups during games & while browsing, I couldn't figure it out. Thought it was my aging system, but remembered some people saying they could only get their VRAM up between 2000-2200, so I dropped it down to 2200MHz, and all is well! Hours of The Witcher 3 and no problems, when before I could only go for a little while before a lockup. I'm gonna try for 1400Mhz now with no increase in voltages in Afterburner. Without touching that, not sure if it's left on "auto" or if it stays at stock voltages. Temps remain in and around 65 degrees while gaming & benchmarking so I'm not worried about too much voltage ramping up. Power usage is really low as well, below 100watts. Anyone else experience everything before Windows loads, showing up green? So sometimes during a cold boot, but usually on a restart, everything is green, even in the BIOS. So weird. I thought something was damaged, but no problems, just green sometimes. I'm using this card via HDMI to a receiver then to my TV. I thought it was a bad cable, and switched it out, but same thing. Again, no problems, just green. Had this over at my desk on a BenQ XL2730Z via DP, and it was fine though. How's everyone's cards holding up?
  5. Yeah I saw some of this earlier and his post in one of the forums, and this is exactly what I was thinking when that TONY guy did the first flash. That's why I want him to do an analysis of this card. It's budget, but it could have a decent PCB and VRM setup. I think I've got a decent chip considering I can do 1350/2250 completely stable, and not much wavering of the clock with a -6mV undervolt. I tried with -10mV before too and it was fine, but didn't do much testing, temps are great, power usage is low, so leaving it there for now.
  6. Didn't someone take a shot of the PCB in high detail? Or maybe not, can't find the image. Wanted to see if buildzoid would do a brief analysis of our el-cheapo cards to see if it would be OK flashing with the 580 bios or if the card would meltdown b/c of the increase in voltage. Also 4GB cards.
  7. Popular b/c budget performance is a hot topic always. Fast and powerful stuff is fast and powerful, we know this, so I don't find it as "fun" when it comes to tinkering with it. Edit: Making cheap stuff fairly fast and powerful bridging the gap between it and the good stuff is more entertaining.
  8. Yeah it's really counter intuitive and strange. The temps don't go much higher than 70 on my card, and with the way it is now it's usually under 70. Your Powercolor el-cheapo hits 1450????? Wow.
  9. Don't forget the power of social media. Twitter has helped me on numerous occasions from furniture to electronics to general service & issues around the city.
  10. WTF that's terrible on PowerColor's part. Damn. Sorry to hear. At least it's working right?
  11. @deXxterlab97 Wait you're in Toronto, I'm in Toronto, I can give you my box. I'm at Sheppard station Mon-Fri for work 9-5. Let me know.
