Thanks to everyone for replying (hoping this message comes up in your notifications box) I'm definitely going to consider the 1440p monitors or a smaller 24" screen with the size of my desk which seats me about 35 and a half inches from my monitor.

So I'm looking into purchasing two Asus VC279H monitors (which are IPS) to use for casual gaming and for casual video editing. I've seen some forums around where people don't recommend to use 27" monitors with a 1920x1080 resolution because it's too low. If i'm editing films I want a decent quality monitor for color grading but I want to be sure whether my monitor selection doesn't look bad.
