  1. Sounds like the results you would get at around 4k not 1080p Do you have any scaling going on? have you tried the card with other games and benchmarks?
  2. Not worried about producer, but samsung just doesnt sell their first party monitors or TVs in Japan. I am concerned about backlight bleed though, it is just so noticeable. I am guessing it is more common on curved displays? I guess finding a solid contrast ratio, high refresh ultrawide panel with good black uniformity is really hard. Kind of crazy that a 4k Oled TV at 55 or even 65 inches which performs better is cheaper than the top 1440p ultrawides.
  3. I see, Thank you for your input. I have been looking around, but unfortunately all the ultra-wides that I have seen have light bleeding from the edges and the IPS displays have the IPS glow issue and poor contrast. Which is why I have been looking for a solid VA panel. The Samsungs are not really sold in Japan though, and from what I can tell the QA seem to be having issues. (besides 1000R curve is too much) No real idea where to go for this.
  4. Hi, As I am in the market for a new monitor and seeing as the best displays are a little on the pricier side I have been quietly been awaiting the release of new panels and models. Recently the following model caught my eye. https://www.lg.com/jp/monitor/lg-34wp60c-b This seem to be a new model from LG, an ultrawide with a VA panel and with an impressive refreshrate for the price. Currently it is going for 57000 JPY which is around 500 USD. I noticed the gtg is at 5ms which is not great, but overall at a glance. taking the makers marketing info as the only input, it seems like a steal? The brightness seem to be at 300 nits as well which may be a little low? considering HDR etc. I haven't found any critical reviews of the display beyond unboxings. Any input would be very helpful. Perhaps the display has a different product code outside of Japan *note: I live in Japan*
  5. Hi. I am looking to find a good story driven game to play. One that is immersive and makes me forget what time it is. Any recommendations are highly welcomed. I am also curious to know your best experiences like this. It is very subjective. so let me provide a list of games that gave this feeling for some context. I guess escapism to some extent is what I am drawn to. The games that did it for me are: Final Fantasy series period. Played everything and love most of it. I have not played 15 though, the setting seem a little off-putting to me, but please feel free to prove me wrong. Nier Automata, Recently played this on a whim since it recently became part of Playstation Now. Absolutely Amazing. I have not played replicant though, is it as good? Cyberpunk 2077, I know it's cool and "in" to hate on it due to a lot of arguably quite valid reasons, but beyond the technicalities.. damn the game content is good. Other games I put in this category: Horizon Zero dawn. Dragon Quest 11 Bioshock infinite Mass Effect 2 Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 Witcher 3 Darksiders 2 specifically, 1 or 3 didn't do the same thing for me. What doesn't fly as well with me: Tactical RPGs like Divinity original sin or FF tactics. Dragon Age Origins is also kind of in this space. The combat is too tedious and just makes my ADD addled brain bored. I do enjoy them and like them, but I just can't make myself play them for long enough and ultimately abandon them. Let me know your favorites!
  6. Let me provide some further context regarding my current hypothesis. The cards that have gone pop seem to at large all be cards that have the 3x 8-pin power connectors. putting the card at the potential to draw power above 500w, way higher than the reference design which as far as I know is around 340w. My theory is that the cards with this extra power are pushing the chip an extra 5-6% by increasing the power draw by 20% or more above what the reference design does. Combining this with the fact that the power stages and capacitors on these cards are 50A rated instead of a beefier design like 70A which we have seen on cards in past generations creates a weak spot when the card suffers power spikes. Something which can occur when the card runs New world. My theory is then that by undervolting the card and setting a hard limit on the voltage, the card is effectively neutered and can safely run. What I don't know however is the relation between voltage and wattage, and if this could in any way help.
  7. Thanks for the answer so far. From my understanding undervolting and setting power draw percentage limits are mutually exclusive methods. I.e. There is no way to do both as undervolting and setting a clockspeed in the curve editor in turn affects the allocated possible power. I may be wrong on this, any input from experienced undervolters would be appreciated.
  8. Running New world has been in particular sketchy with high power draw cards. Most of the cards that have died seem to be the high end nVidia aftermarket cards with 3 PCI-e 8-pin power connectors. I received my 3080 Ti MSI Suprim X earlier this month and my intention is to play New World with it. I logically was quite uneasy after hearing the reports of similar cards being fried by high power spikes blowing out the power stages. With this in mind I have gone to the steps of undervolting the card. Now, I don't know how undervolting or how the voltage applied to the GPU really works. I have, after reading guides on how to undervolt been able to set a voltage of .850 and a clock of 1940. This seems to run fine, but I am still worried. The wattage still looks to hover around 400W on heavy load. Can I in good faith run the card like this? Will limiting the Voltage also limit the potential for high power spikes? Hoping to have a discussion about this.
  9. So the PC has been ordered, This is the list I ended up with and the prices I paid. https://jp.pcpartpicker.com/list/hgzHwz None of the parts have been unboxed and I am still waiting on a few items. Please let me know if anyone think there are better choices I could make. I can still return the items. *Note on Motherboard, the motherboard I bought was the recently released X570S Carbon Wifi, but it is not available on pcparts picker.*
  10. Hi, I have recently made the "investment" in a high end rig. This PC will power my 55" Oled TV, but I am going to add a monitor in a separate desk setup. These are the specs of the PC https://jp.pcpartpicker.com/list/hgzHwz About 4-5 years ago I owned what was a high end rig at the time, and had an acer x34 ultrawide. I think it was the first round of x34 displays. info here I am looking for something similar, but I am a little green on the current display technology and what would be a solid option for me. In recent years I have become quite fond of my Oled TV, so I am not sure I can go back to a low contrast ratio easily. Knowing this I have looked around a little and I understand that current VA panels are quite strong in this aspect. Ultrawide is what I am leaning towards, but I am open to other suggestions. immersion is important. What I didn't like about the x34 I had at the time was primarily the backlight bleed and poor uniformity, especially in dark scenes. this really bugged me. the cap on 100fps is also outdated as the current rig can easily push the frames beyond that. What is not important: Color accuracy. I can appreciate this being good, but I am unlikely to do high level professional work on the display. Insane refresh rates: While I am happy to game overwatch at a high refreshrate I am not looking for a 360hz display. (it is a "nice to have", but not a must) Panel Type: I am open to suggestions here since I haven't kept up, but from what I can understand a strong VA panel could be good for my use. What is imporant: Resolution: 3440x1440 or higher, Black uniformity. Above 144hz. No 48 inch oled, I know this might come up. but this is just too big for me. if LG made a 37 inch oled or something I would probably buy it, but 48 is just too big. It has to be available in Japan where I live, I understand this could be difficult to check, but some panels are not sold here. I would prefer a clean look over a gamer look, but I can deal with it if the panel is solid.
  11. Budget (including currency): The budget is open in the sense that I have the money to spend, although I am not interested in overspending either. I have a build idea in mind, but would appreciate input see below for more info. Country: Japan Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: New world, Newer triple A games in general, racing games etc. The plan is to use it to run games on my LG 4k Oled in the living room through a longer HDMI Cable and having the PC desk set up in the next room over. While I am not doing this right now there is a chance I would use it for video/photo editing. Occasionally I use FFmpeg to slice up bigger videofiles to fit on fat 32 external USBs, but this is not too often. Other details: So no parts have been bought yet, please see below for the current list I am thinking on. What I care about: Sound, longevity and build quality, cost to performance (This is obviously not a sweet spot rig and quite expensive, but I don't like spending twice the cost for minimal gain) CPU: Ryzen 5900x, I didn't see much reason to go for the 5950x and from what I understand the 5900x takes a step up over the Ryzen 7. Cooler: Noctua-DH15 (I prefer big reliable air-coolers for quietness and low maintenance) Memory: 2x16 GB 3600Mhz CL16. This is a bigger question mark for me. I have read up on a number of sources as well as watched the LTT video on ram. but I don't want to splurge on expensive ram for 2% increase in experience. but at the same time I would like to get close to the most I can out of the processor. Motherboard: Honestly this is where I may need some real expert input. I know that I would like a x570 and not a b550. but beyond that I don't know much. I see that there is a revision of the chipset which allows the non-fan versions. The x570s motherboards. This makes me a little curious on the fan part it self. it sounds like a weak point so I lean towards getting a x570s. I have looked at the gigabyte cards, but apparently there is a larger amount of DOAs from Gigabyte? and the recent issues with their power supplies and the RMA process (unsure on how that would work in Japan) makes me question their build quality and QA. I think MSI are bringing out a series of X570S cards which I am considering although I don't know much about them. Criteria for Motherboard: 3+ M.2 slots, Good build quality, no cheap capacitors or lacking power delivery. This is a PC I plan to keep for at least 3 years and I am unlikely to change the processor. If it has good built in sound that would be ideal, I am no hardcore audiophile, but avoiding having to buy an external DAC to avoid noise would be nice. WiFi 6. Storage: I already have 1.5gb across two SSDs I am planning to transfer to this system. for now I am content, but I would probably expand this in the future (hence 3+ m.2 slots) Video card: It is a toss up between the 3080, 3080 ti, I am also a little curious on the 6900xt, although I am hesitant to go with team red on this one. Currently the 3080ti is 175000~180000 Yen, 3080 are around 140000. 6900xt are between 158000~165000. Case: Always like Fractal Design, considering the Meshify 2 Compact. It should fit the newer cards from what I understand PSU: Corsair RM850X, I am a sucker for Corsair PSUs, I had the one I baught in 2010 for 7 years. is there a benefit in buying the bigger ones? I do care for sound. I have heard the larger ones don't turn on the fans unless hey hit a certain load. Any thoughts or in-put would be highly appreciated. Edit: on monitor. I am initially going to rely on the TV, an LG C9. further down the line I am planning to get an ultrawide. I am eyeing the G9, but could go for another ultrawide or potentially a 4k display, but I think I am leaning on the ultrawide side of things. Probably a 3440x1440 or 3840x1600.
  12. Ok So I've baught the 9260, but the antennas I baught with it doesn't fit on the actual m.2 card. the connectors on the card are too small for the antenna cables. what antennas actually work with this? It's real hard to find any proper information. Whats the standard called?
  13. I'll definitively look into those. What about those Killer cards? They seem pricier, how do they perform comperatively?
  14. Greetings. I am building a small form factor build and currently lack Wifi and bluetooth capabilities. The only real option is a m.2 card. since I don't want to slip on performance here and I have no prior knowledge on what's good or not in this area I am looking for some recommendations. It has to be m.2, preferably a kit with antenna included. High quality. I have looked around a bit and couldn't really find a good buyers guide for this, If anyone knows of a good resource please let me know.
