  1. Zotac AMP is not really "rgb". It has like 8 different colors and few different modes like breath, static... Also the cooler for it is not that good in terms of noise. I would suggest either MSI or asus strix, depending on what your overall aesthetic is. MSI for the red and black overall theme and strix for any theme really. Strix should also have fan headers so you can adjust your front/bottom intake fans to ramp up by your GPU temperature instead of the CPU temp. edit: To clarify, the cooler is decent if you don't mind GPU going to high 70s low 80s, otherwise the cooler is not the most silent one. My ambients are in 24-26c.
  2. For some reason my other monitor (DP cable) doesn't POST until the PC boots into Windows. This happens with both iGPU and 1070. And also if the DP cable is connected into any of the 1070 outputs with the HDMI cable, I can't get a POST in BIOS. Everything is currently working properly, unless I'm trying to get into BIOS with DP cable connected....
  3. Thanks for the ideas @James_Lutzke Well mobo is ASUS Z170-A. I think Fast Boot was the problem (I had it disabled, but clearing CMOS enabled it). Drive now works properly. However I still cannot get a POST if my I have a Displayport connected to my GPU. With HDMI cable connected it works fine and fast. Tried both with iGPU and 1070, both work, with the HDMI connected monitor. I'm going to try to see if the MOBO DP out gets me to POST into BIOS or not. But at this point I'm thinking there's something wrong with either the DP cable or the slot it is plugged in.
  4. I just got new fans for my PC (corsair HD120x3 + 140x2 RGBs) as well as an HDD (Seagate barracuda 2TB). The problem is the following: 1. Having connected everything as they should be, I can only get post if I let the PC boot into Windows. 2. Restart, smash DEL to get into BIOS. No POST at this point. And the BIOS led on the MOBO stays lit until I reset/turn off the PC. 3. I can get a POST in BIOS if I remove the power from the RBG hub and the HDD. 4. Even with the HDD connected, I can't find it in Windows. I've tried clearing CMOS and restarting and waiting for POST multiple times. Help..? EDIT: forgot to mention I'm currently running stock for the CPU, but XMP enabled for the RAM. PC Specs in signature.
  5. I would save a few bucks getting R5 1600 (non-X) or invest couple more to get R7 1700 (non-X) since they are pretty much the same chip, but the out of the box frequency is different compared to the X. You should be able to overclock it to the same frequency as the X chips. As for GPU, hard to say when you're getting a new one for MSRP or even a reasonable price.
  6. As was said earlier, just tighten the screws well. I have Zotac AMP! 1070, which is really heavy card and there is very minimal sagging once the screws are tightened well. Also, if you fear for the sagging and the screws don't get rid of the problem, just use some support pillar from the bottom of the case.
  7. It might be that your pump is broken. if the liquid doesn't flow, it doesn't take that much time to let the CPU to start thermal throttling. AFter you've changed the thermal paste or even better, before that, try to listen if you hear if the pump is indeed working or not.
  8. @MachoTaco Have you scanned for viruses and malwares already? Also, go to Event viewer (event viewer -> windows logs -> system) (use windows search bar to find it) and check if there seems to be a recurring error everytime you start playing rainbow six for example
  9. Well, what did you do in November: did you change some component? install some new programs? new OS? I don't know how CPU heavy the new rainbow six is, but have you tried other games? and what do you mean your CPU tanks even when watching youtube videos? Please list your PC specs, if it's somehow hardware related, at least we then know what could be the issue. Although I think this is most likely some software issue or windows update which is causing it. One more thing, you said your temps are 60c, that's under gaming load I'm assuming? if that's idle, there's your problem.
  10. Is your CPU usage very high at idle? If so, you probably have gotten yourself something nice from the depths of internet, that's using your CPU to do stuff, a virus or malware kind of stuff. If it only is capping out in games, then you should probably try to reduce the settings that affect the most to CPU usage. Also, maybe you have or windows has done it for you that windows is allowing more CPU performance to background applications hence decreasing the performance when gaming.
  11. Check if you monitor cable is properly attached on both ends, monitor as well as your GPU. If that doesn't work, try a different output on your GPU.
  12. GW2 is stupidly CPU heavy game. It's using the same engine as the first game was, just heavily modified so there's 10+ years old engine also. Running with 6600k 4.5GHz with my 1070 gives me almost stable 75 ( my monitor refresh rate) everywhere and GPU is not pushing itself to the maximum with everything maxed out. At what resolution you're playing at? (1440p --> gives me still 75fps stable, hovers around 140 in empty areas) You can always use for example MSI AB/rivatuner to check if either your GPU or CPU is hitting 100% at some point. Or you could try playing at stock clocks for your CPU and if that affects your fps at all.
  13. Thanks for fast replies, after unplugging i figured out it was my only non-PWM fan so that was the reason it was running at full speed. After I recently updated my bios i had to redo the fan curves and I forgot one of the fans is not PWM. Solved, thanks. herpa-derp me.
  14. I noticed today that one of my case fans (Corsair 400c included 120mm fan) just keeps itself at 100% all the time. Changing the the fan curve in bios does nothing. This only affects one out of three case fans (all plugged into case fan headers, not CPU). The other two use their fan curve. CPU and MB temps are around 30C. What could be the problem?
