  1. I don't mind it but would be concerned how good it will work, when you have your fingers dirty or oily\wet, I love touchID but I always have to wipe sensor and my fingers, as my skin is quite oily for it to work straight away. Lately, I've been more miffed with shoppers that pay in cash, as they always rummage around to find missing fiver or count change couple of times before moving along, while chip&pin just works and takes like 5 seconds, even old people here know how to use it, so I never seen a delay, where someone has to explain to you, how it works, so no delays, also having receipt arrive to you over viber straing aways is nice too
  2. Did some lazy oc on top of my daily oc, this time 290x is running 1150/1600 and screenshots in proper format for sb. Now I'm wondering if I can touch that 390x score with my crummy i3, gotta try it later
  3. Looking at the results, happy my tri-x 290x @1100/1500 holding pretty strong and chilly, even with i3 instead of dead i5 btw, kinda funny how in 8k I have higher score than fury cards
  4. This makes me happy. I was worried AMD pulled Intel on us for a sec
  5. Looks like R7 1700 is star of the show. Pls, don't you dare to drop ECC ram support AMD
  6. I'm not surprised that this happened considering plenty of countries been pushing for it, as there tons of moneys to be gained from all the licensing scheming. I just always thought it would be Swiss or Brits to jump on this wagon 1st.This is not analog tv where killing was justified to clear the way for LTE, so what they will do with all that free space?
  7. Only quadros can drive that 8k dell monitor? Sounds weird as rx480 has couple of dp 1.4 and 1080 has 1.4 dp as well, so you would assume they could drive it
  8. only those lanes have to get bw for them from somewhere, so you end up sharing that with chipset-cpu link, only now chipset is in cpu and announced amount of lanes is not inspiring and rather limiting compared to what you had with AMD's own older platform. Also, I can be lil cry baby and complain how they removed support for raid5 without adding support at least for 6 or how amout of sata ports is pitiful for x370 but I won't do that Let's be real pcie 2.0 is not really outdated io, as it plenty fast for alot of add on cards and you use pcie lanes for that hot new IO anyway, sure having pcie3 is better as it means you can decrease number of lanes without loosing bw for things like usb, sata, lan controllers etc and freeing up some space for new io. If you have flexible pcie lanes setup for you to use, you can add that new hot io yourself, remember pcie can link up slots to form 'one single' x32 link, assuming support for that was added. I used to have old pcie2 x8 ssd drive back in a day which had heaps of bw and it can deliver roughly what you get with m2 drives now, so I don't see why I just can't add m2 support using addon card, sure those drives were not very good and lack of things like nvme held them back but actual pcie link can deliver all bw you need for that hot new io, so having more lanes is always good and flexible way to keep your system updated without requiring to update your mobo or setup.
  9. Only that's not how it works now and there is no option not to update drivers and it decides on its own what to touch or not. Weirdly, it never touched my gpu or intel's rst drivers, also I had a lot of issues with 920c webcam too until I gave up on on Logitech drivers and software, so it works great using generic drivers until you install Logitech software but then webcam just doesn't work anymore and without it you don't have much in terms of controls for it. You have little more options over updates and can do some tweaks and 'hacks' but those only for pro version of win10, your basic win10 has none of that and it's annoying and I'm not paying money to update personal rig to pro version just to get generic functionally back. That's the thing, CCleaner was updated to the latest version and it deleted plenty of other important programs that I used for work like Scilab and Creately, thankfully I had project and settings backed up, so damage was minimal but my point is that didn't had to do it in the 1st place. As for old tvtuner, it just flat out stopped working even after force install of not signed drivers, which is funny cause it worked before anniversary update. I fixed it by moving tuner to my workstation rig and setting up local nginx rtmp to stream all ota channels. I don't mind them deprecating support for some really old hardware and it is old, I bought it back in 04 but how about a warning before update, so you don't have to waste hours to try to get something working when it worked before update
  10. Users of 990fx boards might notice reduction of lanes, especially those like me, who bought amd system as cheaper alternative to x79\99, where you need cores, ecc and lanes for other stuff. I'm still salty that there is no word on ecc ram support, even cheap 760g boards had support for it. I've seen some quotes from MSI and Gigabyte reps that for launch they only target mainstream and midrange segments, with true enthusiast boards coming up later, I don't have link to them but I'm sure hope they're right and there will be boards with better lane setup.
  11. I'm not talking about MS repository servers. I'm talking what MS update system decided to do to your system, when there is no drivers for an older device in its repository or its policy when drivers in that repository hasn't been updated in some time. Every update it always deletes drivers for my Skystar dvb s2 pcie tuner, with alert in action centre saying MS update system removed older drivers, as they haven't been updated in over 6month. Last drivers released for it were for win7 but they work perfectly on win10 without any issues but MS policy is annoying. Anniversary update flat out deleted half of my programs, even updated ccleaner got nuked saying it got rid of old and incompatible software, after that update win10 now refuses to work with my old pci AverMedia analog tv tunner, despite it working perfectly before using xp drivers for it, same thing happened to my HP All in one but I got it fixed by using windows generic drivers not the one that HP supplies. Resetting file type\program preferences occasionally cause it thinks it detected some bogus issue is annoying too, this is extra comical when it resets its own Office 2013 to store version of Office365 that I don't have installed and it always takes you to MS Store page Get Office, if you forgot to change things back when you open excel or word document
  12. I think you missed /s there. Can't agree more, what a nice feature, if you have some older hw that is not in ms repository or drivers for it haven't been updated in quite some, it will just decide to delete drivers for it all together every update, updates feel more exciting with it
  13. Nice, never knew you could fit 480 rad in maker5, always thought it was max 360+240 or is that 420?
  14. Video editing is not really super cpu bound beyond timeline performance, unless you go full software encode or have 4k+ timeline but at that point, you better off getting cpu render farm and that is not for budged editing rig anyways. For any mainstream\family video editing any fx 6 or 8 core will do just as well as i7. Minor difference will be noticeable only when you start exporting like 2-3hrs long videos or have like super tight upload schedule to yt with alot of vids, where you can't afford to just wait another 5min for each video on i5 vs i7. If you go heavy on effects and other things, you will be more gpu limited then cpu, if you want to use hw acceleration, which you absolutely should, as it will be only real big difference in performance vs what cpu you will go with, also Sony Vegas unlike Premiere can really take advantage of extra cores, so if you edit there you might have advantage compared to non ht i5 but it likes chewing ram alot, so you might run out of it before you hit cpu bottleneck, if you hit it at all. AfterEffects sometimes favors more threads when you go real heavy on non gpu accelerated effects too. I have fx-6350 workstation build and l never had any issues in Vegas or Lightworks doing any 1080p editing. What you buy depends on what prices you have locally, as I can get new 8370 with 970 mobo for about 190$ or 220$ if I go with 990x board but i5 6500 non k alone costs 210$ here, so it's better to get 8370 and spent extra money on things like ram, bigger ssd and gpu instead. If you don't have enough ram or your drive is sloooow it will affect your timelines performance alot more then having faster cpu. If you can afford get i7 6700\7700, if not don't sweat it,if you go with fx and just get what you can afford.
  15. I'm not interested in EVGA but I hope this rumor makes Sapphire get off they backs and bring back Vapor-X cards with Vega. Fury Nitro was mostly meh with some nice features but 480 was dud. Last real sexy card they made was 290x vapor-x with that sweet ass custom vrm design and improved trixx cooler
