  1. Also, assuming the refresh rate is 144hz. If I can drive beyond, say, 120fps, does G-sync really matter? Will I be seeing screen tearing?
  2. Can one of you please tell me what I'm missing here? I feel like I'm missing some flaw. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-Z321QU-bmiphzx-Technology/dp/B07BDQNDKY
  3. My monitor also isn't gsync or freesync compatible so I'm really not in a great situation with my current monitor. For browsing or content consumption, sure, but not for gaming.
  4. I actually had that 27 inch freesync one in my tabs already, I opened all of the ones from the freesync supported list and closed all of them that were 1080p or had a critical flaw I could see at first glance
  5. The whole reason behind my quest for a new monitor is the 60hz on my 4k display is killing me with the screen tearing and stuttering
  6. Good response time, 144hz refresh rate, 1440p, HDR which my card supports. It is perfect, except that nVidia doesn't like it enough to make it g-sync compatible
  7. It literally is the same, just with a U on the end. The non-U is 1080p, the U is literally everything I need in my life.
  8. The thing is, because I have an nVidia card, and they have generally been known to not support FreeSync, and since I'm still not entirely clear on what nVidia is doing for supporting Freesync with their 10-series cards, with exception to the 12 monitors they've already approved, I am cautious to grab a freesync monitor that isn't on their approved list
  9. I did some digging and apparently 1ms is best for competitive players, but anything lower than 5ms is good for gaming of any kind, so 4ms or below is good.
  10. I don't particularly need ultrawide. Also, I heard they were expanding g-sync certification to freesync monitors but I didn't realize they were making cards compatible with freesync. I'm going to do some digging into that. In the meantime, i saw this monstrosity. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JVGLJ6R/?tag=pcpapi-20
  11. I just feel like, if I have the hardware to drive it, and I limit that either in resolution or refresh rate, I'm doing a disservice to my hardware and myself
  12. The predator x34 looks amazing, and if I know what overclocking a monitor meant or how to do it, and properly, I might consider pulling the trigger on that, but it's only 60Hz by default, and only OCs to 100 so that's kinda rough for what I'm going for
  13. Thank you for your recommendations! PCPartPicker was a good shout, I completely forgot about that and will definitely be using that in the future!
  14. I have a 4k, 60Hz refresh rate monitor and I'm so sick of screen-tearing and stuttering. I have the specs to get over 60 fps in most games, but 4k doesn't even matter as much to me as a 1440p resolution monitor with double the framerate would. So, I'm looking for a new monitor, I don't mind if it's ultrawide or whatever, but instead of it being ####x2160, I want it to be ####x1440, since even an ultrawide 1440 is easier to drive than a standard 4k. Very Important: Higher than 1080p, lower than 2160p, on the short side. 1440p sounds like a good fit. 16:9 or ultrawide aspect ratio 120Hz+ refresh rate. G-Sync compatible. Low response time. ~1ms. Displayport input. 27" + Somewhat important: Vasa mount compatible would be nice, but not required. I don't particularly care about viewing angles, but vibrant colors, deep blacks, and good contrast and color accuracy is appreciated, as I do love outstanding visuals. I want one with a balance between this and response time/refresh rate. Unnecessary/Unimportant: Additional ports besides 1 Displayport and 1 HDMI and power Speakers RGB lighting on stands Gamer aesthetic Price I will try to answer any questions you have. Thank you so much, I don't know much about panels and monitors and feel like some others may have a better idea on what would be a good fit. If you had enough to afford any monitor, what would you pick? That's sort of what I'm going for. I don't think my specs are important for this discussion, but if they are: 8700k @ 5.0GHz 32GB DDR4 3200MHz GTX 1080
  15. The thing is, whenever this has occured, I would use the task manager to view my gpu usage (post Windows 10 Creator's update) and my GPU doesn't get high usage on Minecraft, even when it lags.
