Without going into too many detail I have a friend who's been a very long time fan of Linus who is going though some serious medical stuff. Id like to make a request on behalf of my friend but not sure as to how to ask. A forum post with request and detail explanation might be inappropriate, mail or a other social might be over looked, I'm not sure where to start. Any suggestions would be amazing, I just really want to do something special for him if I can.

My girlfriend noticed my headphones were old and were on their last legs... So she surprised me with a new set! The last time I bought headphones, I bought (see below) as a door crasher for 50 bucks Canadian 7 years ago! for the price compared to MSRP I didn't really care https://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDRXB700-Headphones-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B001UE6PE0 Sony MDR-XB700 My girlfriend bought me (see bellow), and they seem super nice, and specs at a glance look pretty similar, only not falling apart https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CIEBU54?ref=emc_b_5_t HyperX Cloud Revolver Just curious how they compare as MSRP on release seems similar

I tried using google today to do a few quick conversions of MB to GB. In the past its always been 1GB = 1024MB but now its showing 1GB = 1000MB. Even though storage capacities use the later measurement, i'm a little shocked to see it as the standard measurement that cannot be changed. Even top results use it as an answer, and 1024 comes after those. Have a I missed the memo and 1024 is no longer the standard outside of marketing? /nerdrage

I can't seem to recall what it was, I used to hear it all the time before "smurfing" was a common term, and it wasn't sandbagging. Any ideas? I know Linus mentioned it once on the live stream and everyone made fun of him for being old

Ive never dealt with a PoE device before... Don't I need a switch that specifically supports PoE?

Me and my girlfriend recently moved into a new place and would like to setup our own wireless connection. Our landlord was kind enough to let us connect a power line kit from his router upstairs to our basement suite; the router then plugs into a switch. This works great for everything that has a wired connection, but for phones, our laptops, and chromcast doesn't really do too much to help. Would anyone have any suggestions to getting a wireless connection in our new basement suite? I was thinking either picking up an access point or configuring a router to act as one. Budget ~$100

Replacing 12 year old Inspiron, how's my build?
Helepolis replied to Helepolis's topic in New Builds and Planning
1. He uses discs regularly 2. Doesn't that disable dual channel? 3. He has a large digital movie collection, so sdd wouldn't be ideal. 4. I considered that, wasn't sure how to adjust as its already 40 over. 5. I have no rubutle -
My friend asked me to build him a 1000 before taxes build to upgrade from his old laptop. He wants to join the PC master race to game, primarily overwatch and whatever shooter/moba happens to catch his attention along the way. Oh and stream/play 4K content He's located in Edmonton and would like to pick up from memory express so they can build it for him(I'm out of province for school). He already has all his peripherals, and I'm supplying the OS. http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/rfR89W howd I do? hes ecstatic to have a windowed case so any suggestions to improve looks with the chosen case are welcome!

Recently I purchased a 50ft HDMI cable to run from my office to my 4K living room tv. Currently I'm using triple monitors for productivity, and switch to single monitor for gaming, and the living room tv for digital movies/ controller optimized games. It works great but it's getting to be a hassle constantly reconfiguring my displays. I was wondering if there's a program that could toggle between different display configurations? if it matters at all, I'm using a MSI GTX 1070 Gaming, and Windows 10 64-bit

My MSI 1070 Gaming card finally showed up today and installation went pretty smoothly, getting my monitors to work was another story. Initially I daisy chained my Dell U2414H using the suppliees cables, alternating from DP Mini to Full DP, In then out respectively in DP1.2 mode. Only one Monitor turned on (the one connected to my computer). After googling around Turns out my Monitor has a LOT of issues daisy chaining, so I decided to directly connect my monitors, mini to full DP to my 1070. This resulted in the same issue where only one monitor would turn on; though it was remedied by switching my monitors back to DP 1.1a mode. At this point I'm tidying up my cables and I realize my monitor furthest from my tower wont reach without the cable awkwardly going across my desk, so I buy a 10ft full DP to full DP since they didn;t have any mini combos in stock. Now when I plug the last monitor in its detected as a generic monitor with a black screen, forcing it to load the proper driver has no effect. stumped I try an HDMI to DVI cable I had laying around which miraculously works and all 3 monitors are running. Specs P67 Sabertooth 2600k MSI gtx 1070 Gaming Dell u2414h monitorx3 Windows 10 64bit education Is something amiss here or am I a dunce?

It's worth noting the msi card is fatter and with a side panel fan in my r3 has 1mm clearance

The US and Canadian sites keep different listings, not just price conversions
