Hi all, I plan on making a Hackintosh in a Ncase N1 V4, and I'm looking to get some extensions to make cables bend better, and have better length so I don't have cables all over the insides. Just used a calculator from @InVis and it looks like I'll get 16TB of space ! And yes, it will run off of the this motherboard's SAS HBA Perfect! Sweet! I didn't know Virtualbox was able to run inside of FreeNAS! I gotta do some digging for what else I need to run in this machine.

After months of contemplating & saving up $ on my broke college student budget, I have decided to finally move forward with building a FreeNAS system instead of buying a QNAP/Synology NAS. Here are a few things that I'm looking to accomplish. - Around 100MBps read/write speed to Multiple Clients - Going to have a Cisco switch that allows for static link aggregation to link two 1GB ports together. - 1080P Streaming (with transcoding) via Plex ! - Potential Upgrade to 4K Streamable content (I just want the flexibility to do it someday). - Of course, I'd have to upgrade to a 10GB nic. - Good Redundancy via Raidz2 ! - Backup to Google Drive (need to look if there's some plugin that I can add to do this) - Because I have unlimited google drive. - External Network File Access - Would like to access it via Android/iPhone app; not videos, but document files etc - iSCSI Targetting for VMware! have you looked in the bios ?

I wouldn't recommend cloning the drive. In some software.. it is impossible because of the non-identical storage sizes. Just install fresh, format the drive for a clean start. If you don't format the drive and use it as is, you'll have files lingering in the old drive that will just look bothersome and take up space. I'd say get an external drive (if you have one), and put files on there in during the transition.

Thanks for clarifying. That definitely gives me a lot more insight. Okay. So let's just put the concept into play with ZFS. My mobo fails, so I can just slap on another mobo, even with the same SSD/flash drive that I boot up from? That sounds great to me as long as data integrity is good.
