One last question, do you know of any good way to check that my power source wasn't damaged?

I did. Display turn off is 10 min and computer sleep is 15 minutes. the display goes off on time but the computer doesn't go off at all on it's own.

Good advice, I downloaded Furmark. I for sure have a serious, huge, not messing around surge protector now haha. The disc check that the my C drive is clean. AT the point the only thing I'm noticing is that my computer won't automatically go into sleep mode when it's supposed to now. I can send it to sleep through the power options but it won't go on it's own via the idle timer. DO you think reinstalling the OS and cleaning the system that way would be a sensible way of approaching that?

I'm also noticing that today my monitor will sleep but the actual system won't. Something is wrong.

All the game files are verified. I haven't uninstalled it yet but it feels weird that a week old computer would suddenly start having a performance issue.

So there was a big storm last night and I think my compute might have caught a power surge before I got home and turned it off. My system is a new rig with a gtx 1070 so it should run everything fine. I suspect there might have been a problem because the USB for my logitech G430 suddenly doesn't work & I was playing x com and each time a red alien did the berserk thing on a level the screen would freeze for a second and then freeze for a second. I don't know if that is a thing with the game or not but I've never had any performance issues until that happening today. With X com enemy unknown of all games. I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations of a solid program that will check my graphics card to make sure there nothing happened to it during the storm last night?

I had just built my first PC the other week. Last night There was a thunderstorm and I'm pretty sure lightning hit near the house before I remembered to turn my computer off. I'm also ashamed to say that I *think* that what I had assumed was a surge protector was just a normal power strip (I'm not 100% sure though). Anyway I noticed my mouse and keyboard shut down and turned back on within a few seconds two times today, also the logitech 430g headset doesn't work when I use the USB adaptor it comes with all of a sudden today but the 3.5 jack works so I'm assuming that got fried. I looked at my motherboard which is a Asus X99 Deluxe 2 and it's always displaying the code 40 now. I looked in the manual and didn't see the number 40 under it's Q codes and After a google search I saw different people said the code 40 was different things so I thought I would ask if anyone knows what code 40 is and also if there is anything I should do to make sure nothing is wrong.

Do you know if it's true that MSI gave reviewer's tweaked review GPU's? -
I'm new to this but the Super Clocked EVGA 1070 is 5.29 whle the MSI GTX 1070 is 497.93 I noticed a less expensive EVGA card on new egg but it wasn't pre SuperClocked

Thoughts on difference between EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 and MSI GeForce GTX 1070 GAMING X 8G What in your opinion is better/worse?

on a 1080p monitor like a Asus VG248QEis it even worth it to pay the extra cash upgrading to a GTX1080? Or does it make more sense to save some money and get a GTX1070 instead?
