  1. typical coating?does this mean I should expect the same thing if I buy one of those? or do u mean an isolated incident with this screen's coating?
  2. It's not that bad,the camera exaggerates it a little. But this should give you an idea of what I'm talking about
  3. Hi everyone, a friend of mine recently purchased an asus pg278qr, a monitor which I am considering as a secondary monitor myself. However, when sitting down infront of it, I felt as if there was some sort of filter/glass/net between me and the image.Kind of like a very fine net would be the most accurate way of describing it. It is subtle, but it's there alright. I did not notice such a thing when using a benq monitor, and definetly not when using the pg27aq which is ips. So my question is, is something wrong with the monitor? or is this common among TN panels? if so, why doesnt the benq show it? Thnx for the help
  4. you never told me what 1440p 144hz monitor you are considering and how much is it going for? how often are you planning to keep your new gpu? and what is it?
  5. if you are going to end up paying double the 1440p 144hz for a 4k with gsync. get the 1440p 144hz. trust me on that. for the same price 4k vs 1440p 144hz or not go for the 4k. but if the 4k is much more, then go 1440p 144hz
  6. hmm tough to say I got the asus pg27aq which got gsync and an ips panel, but is even more expensive. twice the money is a lot, so I don't know what to say. had the acer been an ips panel as well I would have considered it if your budget allowed. but if its a tn panel as well then probably not. gsync alone is not worth it. dont destroy your budget in pursuit of a marginal difference.twice is probably too much. I don't know, I'm not in a position to give advice here since I got a gsync monitor
  7. Ok so at 28 inches you will be able to see a difference, specially in sharpness. The image will be "in your face" more. It's got freesync which is great if you plan on getting an amd card. You may not be able to run all games in 4k, but you can still run some in 1440p.for people who will claim that playing at lower than native res will blur the picture, you can avoid that. first of all at 4k the pixels are so small that the problem is much better than playing 1080p on a 1440p screen. second, what you can do is play at 1440p while setting the internal game resolution above 100% that will make things sharper and cancel out that effect, or alternatively you can play at 4k and set internal game resolution as lower, that would be even better. and it will still look better than 1440p.You will be sacrificing the 144hz though! personally, I was very close to buying the 1440p 144hz monitor, but I couldn't justify paying the same amount of money on a 1440p monitor as I would on a 4k.144hz or not. yes 144hz is better, but its not like 60hz is unplayble, we have been using it for ages perfectly fine. But then again 4k is better but 1440p is perfectly fine too .had I found a high quality 1440p 144hz one that was cheaper, I may have done it. Either way you are going to be getting a good monitor . Hope you enjoy. Let me know what you decide on and buy!
  8. may I ask what 4k monitor you are considering and what games you usually play?
  9. ok so I was recently in the same boat as you, deciding whether to go for 4k 60fps or 1440p 144hz with my gtx 1080. let me say something most people won't. yes, between 4k and 1440p you can tell there is a difference on a 27 inch monitor, and its not a small difference as most people will have u believe...but that is not always a good thing IF YOU PLAY COMPETITIVELY. more detail and sharper images are not always better in competitive games, as your eyes will need to see more detail and that may distract you sometimes. I did get the 4k 60hz, because even though I play competitive games, I don't do so with a very competitive spirit. So I value a beautiful experience more than a competitive edge, which to be frank is quite small but there non the less!.If you are the type that is trying to shave every ms off his response time, forget the 4k. not to mention the 144hz will give u a ~10ms boost anyway. so depending on your play style decide. Keep in mind the following, while 4k looks better, 1440p is by no means bad and will look gorgeous!144hz maybe an advatage depending on your playstyle. 4k will require more power,is much more "future proof", and is better in every aspect for anything non gaming. keep that in mind.
  10. turned out to be a loose cable.what about the case fans? can you help me solve that?
  11. while trying to trace the cables after reading ur post, the moment I moved the cpu fan cable, it became normal, when I removed my hand it went back. So i unplugged and re-plugged and the noise is gone!!!! My ears send you their warmest wishes! as for the case fans. are they supposed to be idle if the case is still open and the temps very low?
  12. msi z170a m5 + thermaltake frio advanced cooler
  13. So I just finished building my first pc. and from the moment I turned it on, the cpu fan(frio advanced) is running so loud its giving me a headache. cpu usage is at 1% and the fan is screaming. it doesnt seem to be the bios. what else could be causing this? cpu temp is around 24 degrees. Also the case NZXT h440v2 fans are not running at all.perhaps because the case is still open and there is no load? do they activate when needed only?
  14. alright thnx I will use the top right for my 12v, the one just below it for my gpu, and the 24 for the 24. a random 6 pin on the leftfor my ssd. about the i-PSU, I'm not sure how gd that is but since it is there I might as well use it. I assume it will connect to any usb header on the mother board right?
