  1. so I've a relatively old system with a R9 380x and a Xeon e3 1231 v3 and what not. It was working fine however was getting rather dusty so I decided to clean it one day. I did the usual, blowing dust and wiping dust off the case and components, no biggie. I felt rather adventurous so I decided to open up my PSU aswell as my GPU to get closer to the fans and remove any dust buildup. Now I do realise bad idea and should thank the Lords that I'm still alive and not electrocuted but that's besides the point. Didn't mess up anything, quick unscrew, remove dust and screw back together. The problem was, when I turned on my PC, it ran perfectly fine for a quick few minutes before abruptly just shutting down with no warning. Then when I tried to start it up it would simply bootloop with no display showing. I kinda messed around with god knows what and now I'm at the stage where if I have headphones plugged in I can hear the PC starting, as in I can hear the windows sound play through my headphones however there is no display. Should also mention the fact that upon further inspection I found a metal screw stuck behind the motherboard and ahmm....yeah. I've tried removing the gpu and launching it both realised that the Xeon has no integrated graphics... I've swapped out the PSU with no luck. Tried all 4 of my RAM slots with 2 different sticks of RAM together and alone. Reseated the CPU Reset the CMOS and removed the battery Two different monitors both get no signal
  2. I fixed it. Went into the BIOS and under like the DRAM timings and what not, changed everything that was 'Channel 9' from Auto to 11. Seems to work.
  3. If the timings need to be the same, how come the stick won't work on it's own? And it worked on my old motherboard
  4. Alrighty so a bit of a problem. I bought a new 8GB stick of RAM, DDR Corsair XMS, it's identical to my other stick BUT for the part that the new one is 1600mhz, while the old is 1333mhz. Now in my old motherboard there was seemingly no problems, however since then I have upgraded to a new CPU and motherboard and the stick simply won't run. Whenever I insert the stick, before, if it was solo or together with the other one, just infinite boot loop, I couldn't even get into bios. Now I changed some BIOS setting to automatically have the DRAM frequency at 1333mhz instead of ''Auto'', however now instead of just constantly restarting and looping, it just starts up once, fans work and stuff, however just black screen and nothing happens. Just saw that the new stick has a Latency Timing: CL11 while the old has a CL9, does that change anything?
  5. I fixed it. I am dumb. Basically the PSU fan had no air access to it as the case was right under the carpet. Simply put a book under it and it is quiet as night.
  6. Oh yeah it definitely isn't the GPU, I can put my ear right next to the PSU and it is clearly coming from it. God damn it, just got it and immediately replace...aww
  7. Hey. So my Seasonic S12II-620 arrived today and all seemed well and well I mean kinda seems well. My problem with it is, I am 100% sure that it has enough watts as previously I was running a 500w EVGA PSU without a problem. Now my problem with this one is, under no load like Google Chrome and maybe like some light stuff like watching Twitch streams or Youtube videos, it's all good, quiet, how I'd expect a PSU. However as soon as I launch a game, even god damn CSGO the thing sounds like an airplane and is by far the loudest thing in my case, and also generates the most heat. The heat it creates also spreads it up to my GPU, raising it to temperatures like 65'C which I know are normal, however it never hits those temperatures, 55'C max perhaps in like CSGO definitely. Sound = Oh and yes, the main really loud air noise you head is the PSU, not the small coil whining coming from GPU http://vocaroo.com/i/s1A5XmOWfVa8 This is right next to the PSU with side panel open. Then I move away from the PSU, however honestly this recording does not do it justice, it is WAY louder than that when I sit down on my chair. Recorded with a phone so figures. 8. Haha, not to worry! I just ordered the Seasonic S12II-620 which should arrive sometime this week Thanks for the feedback however.
  9. Don't think so, sounds a lot more louder and different
  10. welp that's one way to die. I'd rather buy a new one
  11. Hey! For some time now my PSU has been making strange noises. It literally sounds like somebody snoring or a cat purring which is really strange, I've tried to research it but couldn't find anything with this exact noise. Sometimes the noise gets louder and faster, sometimes quieter and slower, however the tone remains the same. It is an 80+ certified EVGA 500W PSU so that's that. Specs - Xeon e3 1231 v3 R9 380 MSI Gaming edition 8GB RAM 250GB SDD 1TB HDD And of course, the noise http://vocaroo.com/i/s0bZi4BpPooF

  13. lol so I just did some more digging around literally after posting this and found a user saying that turning off Realtek HD Audio removed the coil whining for him so hey...why not try right? I just went into processes and turned it off, and the coil whining is gone, my audio still works too, really strange. Not sure if permanent solution, but hey it is what it is. Maybe some explanation? It appears it also has dropped my GPU temperatures by 30 degrees celsius
  14. Hey! Essentially since today I've been getting this really annoying coil whine is what I believe is called, out of nowhere too just suddenly started. I've done some tests and what not and have figured when it starts, when it stops and what not, and hopefully somebody can tell me 1. Where the coil whining is happening and 2. If I can fix it. 1. When I startup my PC, the coil whining does not begin until about 20-30 minutes of having the PC turned on. If I shut down the PC, as soon as I click ''restart'' or ''Shut down'', the coil whining stops. 2. The coil whining only happens in desktop/Chrome usage. If I run for example CSGO and get into a map, it stops no matter where I look in the map etc. 3. If I run a stress test called Prime95, the coil whining stops, as soon as I close it, the coil whining starts again. I have tried going into the BIOS and turning off anything that has ''Power savings'' and ''Voltage savings'' etc for the CPU, however no luck.
